Bug#360714: Works

2006-04-07 Thread Max Gilead
Hi Rene!

Sorry for making trouble -- I guess it was issue with some library
upgraded during recent system upgrade. The machine I was having problems
with is at work and it's not rebooted or even X aren't restarted very
frequently. This time restarting X server fixed the issue.

Thanks,
Max

and note that openoffice.org-common does depend on dictionaries-common,
which *does* contain the script. You broke it somehow yourself.
True, but this 'somehow' is by typical use of apt and re-installing
OO.org packages, so it's possible that control scripts of some related
package contains dangerous code which broke dictionaries-common install.

It looks like the same from a quick look at the reports only. Just for
comparison with the other report: Which graphic driver do you use?
Nvidia's binary driver version 8178 with xinerama on dualhead GF6600.

Which version of udev are you using ?
Debian package version 0.088-2. Default generated /dev nodes permissions
are: crw-rw-r-- root root.

Bug#360526: libgphoto2-2: Fails to properly set permissions on usb device

2006-04-02 Thread Max Gilead
Package: libgphoto2-2
Version: 2.1.6-7
Severity: important

While there are numerous bugs filed with problems similar to this one all of
them either are reported for previous versions of kernel/libraries and/or are
not exactly the same. I tried solutions offered in the bug reports (if
available) but nothing I tried worked.

After system update two days ago importing photos from camera stopped
working as regular user. It works fine when 'gthumb --import-photos' is run
as root or I run 'chmod -R a+rw /dev/bus/usb/' before trying as regular user.

Output of gthumb is attached below.

Max

Bug#356030: Upgrading from 3.26-3 to 3.26-8 breaks system configuration (moved stunnel file)

2006-03-09 Thread Max Gilead
Package: stunnel
Version: 2:3.26-8
Severity: important

When upgrading from stunnel 3.26-3 to 3.26-8 its main file has been moved
from /usr/sbin to /usr/bin. I guess there has been a good reason for that
but such change can (and, in my case, did) break some system scripts and
configurations. I suggest that, when doing such upgrade, at least a warning
be issued so that users know that they need to fix their systems instead of
being surprised that suddenly their services became unavailable.

Cheers,
Max

Bug#327282: xserver-xorg: Looks much like the problem here, but mine is more generic: Ctrl key combos not working

2005-09-20 Thread Max Gilead
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-7
Followup-For: Bug #327282

My problem looks much like the one described here but is a bit more generic:
no Ctrl+modifier+... key combos work. I can't switch to text consoles
(Ctrl+Alt+Fn),
can't open new tabs in gnome-terminal (Ctrl+Shift+T) etc. but *CAN* open new
tabs in Mozilla (Ctrl+T) or save files (Ctrl+S).

My current workaround is to add

Section InputDevice
...
Option XkbOptionsctrl:swapcaps
EndSection

option to /etc/X11/xorg.conf but it's obviously highly non-optimal
solution. With this option set everything works fine, CapsLock works as
Control, Control works as CapsLock... the only problem is they're switched ;-)

I made no changes to hardware or configured X in any special way and
everything was working fine until ~2 last weeks.

Regards,
Max

(who just turned on CapsLock while trying to save this file ;-) )

- enter wrong password to mail account and decide to save it in password
manager
- get mail (fails as expected)
- remove saved password using password manager
- get mail
- misleading password alert is displayed (reported as bug #326476)
- password prompt window is displayed (enter correct password)
- server is contacted, nothing happens

Problem is it's necessary to click 'Get Mail' again to actually get new
mail.

What setup are you running? IMap/Pop? What specific server? Did you try to
find an equivalent bug posted in http://bugzilla.mozilla.org ?
Using POP3 with SSL on my own mail server (yellowhedgehog.com). I tried
to find similar bugs in Debian bug database only, not in Mozilla's one.
Should I bother mozilla.org people with issues with Debian's
Thunderbird? I suppose they'd tell me to report bugs to Debian instead.

Interesting ... at least for imap it worked for me IIRC. Maybe your
server closes all connections and thunderbird determines the bounds of
a session by 'ImapSession' and not application session.

 Please state your specific setup.
Using POP3 over SSL and connecting to my own mail server
(yellowhedgehog.com). A few days ago the certificate expired and I'm yet
to renew it, maybe that's causing problems? Before warning described
above I'm getting 'Server certificate expired' warning. I know I have to
fix this certificate thing, but it's still a problem with application :-)

I cannot reproduce this. I do it that way regularly - e.g. if I want
to train my junk filter - and AFAIK it always worked as expected.

Hm, maybe my Thunderbird is a bit special considering the number of
problems I'm reporting :-) but it doesn't work here in the configuration
I described above.
To clarify things:

Setup A:
[ ] 'Move incoming messages determined...'
[X] 'When I manually mark messages as junk'

Marking mail as junk makes trash can icon appear by the message, but it
stays in the incoming folder.

Setup B:
[X] 'Move incoming messages determined...'
[X] 'When I manually mark messages as junk'

Marking mail as junk marks it with trash can icon AND moves to Junk folder.

I believe when marking messages as junk manually both setups should
behave the same, which is like setup B.

What do you mean by 'reconfiguring app before and after ...'?

I means turning 'Move incoming messages determined...' on and off before
and after marking messages as junk.

Max

Bug#326477: mozilla-thunderbird: All mails incorrectly marked as junk

2005-09-03 Thread Max Gilead
Package: mozilla-thunderbird
Version: 1.0.6-3
Severity: important

I'm just moving to Thunderbird from Mozilla Suite and after first
downloading mails I ran Tools-Run Junk Mail Controls on Folder only to find
that it marked _all_ my mail as junk.

What's worse, everything disappeared. I had to restart Thunderbird for mail
to be visible in Junk folder (I configured it to move junk to this folder).

Max

Bug#326481: mozilla-thunderbird: Junk mail control creates 'Junk' folder making 'junk' folder invisible

2005-09-03 Thread Max Gilead
Package: mozilla-thunderbird

If user creates 'junk' folder before junk mail controls are used for the
first time new 'Junk' folder is automatically created, making old 'junk'
folder invisible in Thunderbird.

I believe either old folder should be renamed (eg. to 'Old junk') or,
better, junk mail controls should use this manually created folder even if
letter case doesn't match.

Mail is not moved to Junk folder if 'When I manually mark messages as junk'
option is selected _without_ selecting 'Move incoming messages determined to
be junk mail to:' as well.

I don't want Thunderbird to automatically mark new mail as junk because of
problem described in bug #326477 but I still want to be able to mark junk
mails manually and have them moved immediately after that to Junk folder. As
of now, it's impossible (without reconfiguring app before and after each
operation, that is).

Bug#325919: enigma: Segfault when playing 'Pickpockets' level

2005-08-31 Thread Max Gilead
Package: enigma
Version: 0.92-1
Severity: normal

When playing 'Pickpockets' (level 38 from Enigma pack) game crashes when
ball enters the middle corridor, bounces a lot (I don't know why, but it's
important step, going through corridor cleanly donesn't trigger the bug)
and then hits bottom block.

Bug#325715: enigma: Level 13 can be deadlocked (fwd)

2005-08-30 Thread Max Gilead
Package: enigma
Version: 0.92-1
Severity: normal

Level 13, 'Ice Skating' from 'Enigma' level pack can be deadlocked by moving
one of the blocks into the center cell where player ball spawns. If this
center cell is occupied and player loses the ball new ball appears in this
place but is invisible and nothing else can be done except to restart the
level.

...and thanks for this wonderful game ;-)

Bug#320810: Installing postgresql-8.0 creates unusable entry in /etc/passwd

2005-08-01 Thread Max Gilead
Package: postgresql-8.0
Version: 8.0.3-12
Severity: important

Installing postgresql-8.0 creates /etc/passwd entry for user postgres with
shell set to /bin/false -- this way it's impossible to su to user postgres
to create users, databases etc. I suppose there are tools which can do this
without shell but imho su-ing to user postgres is the most obvious, simplest
(at least for software developer like me ;-) ) solution and therefore should
be supported in default install.

I let the upgrade script do its work, didn't do anything manually.
Please point your browser at $URL/admin/ where you can also trigger a
 manual database update.

There you can also find out whether any database updates have not yet
 been run.
Indeed, there were two items to apply. I run the upgrade manually and now
it seems everything works fine.

Thank you very much!

Hilko Bengen wrote:

From what version did you upgrade? 0.17.x?

I'm not sure but I believe it was one of the first (probably the first)
0.19 series version available in Debian; timestamp of old configuration
files in /etc/mantis is October 20, 2004. I suppose I skipped an upgrade
or two since then because previous upgrade was very painful so I put the
package on hold till now.

Bug#305520: Unable to start foomatic-gui due to missing module 'foomatic'

Hi Chris!

  When I start foomatic-gui I get this:
  $ foomatic-gui
  Traceback (most recent call last):
File /usr/bin/foomatic-gui, line 39, in ?

  ImportError: No module named foomatic
This is rather mysterious... what does python -c 'import foomatic' say?

Here is the result:

$ python -c 'import foomatic'
Traceback (most recent call last):

ImportError: No module named foomatic
