Package: tayga Version: 0.9.2-4 Severity: wishlist Tags: upstream ipv6 Dear Maintainer, It would be nice to add CLAT support into tayga. Currently, it is mainly used for IPv6-only internal network to reach the IPv4 Internet. As ISPs begin to deliver IPv6-only mobile Internet, it is possible that user may want running IPv4-only apps on a Debian-powered mobile device connected to such a network. I have tried manually installing tayga on a client with only IPv6 Internet connectivity in a test environment, where the service provider has offered NAT64 at their gateway. The client is assigned a /64 which is routed from the service provider. Let me use the following as an example: Routed /56 (e.g. obtained from DHCPv6-PD): 2001:db8:0:ff00::/56 PLAT-NAT64: 2001:db8::::/96 I then installed tayga on my client device, configured the IPv6 prefix to 2001:db8::::/96, and no IPv4 prefix (because the IPv6 Internet cannot reach the IPv4-only private network behind the client). The addresses of tayga is set to 2001:db8:0:ff00::1, which is within the routed /56, and 172.16.0.1, which is a private IPv4 address. As I want the mapped IPv6 packet to go to the Internet (which in turn go through the PLAT), I commented out the default routes in /etc/init.d/tayga , and modified the configuration further later on. Because the client machine has no IPv4 addresses, I set the address of the nat64 interface to 172.16.0.2/30 and a default gateway to 172.16.0.1 after starting the daemon, by modifying the routes in /etc/init.d/tayga . This way, all outgoing IPv4 packets from the client will originate from 172.16.0.2 and pass through 172.16.0.1, at that point translated to IPv6 packets targeting 2001:db8::::/96. However, in order to receive the return packet by the IPv4 application, I had to assign an additional IPv6 address to represent the IPv4 of the client, which was 2001:db8:0:ff00::2, also within the routed /56. It is NOT the IPv6 address of an interface, instead, it is routed into the nat64 interface. A static mapping of 2001:db8:0:ff00::2 - 172.16.0.2 was created in /etc/tayga.conf, which allowed the packet to return to 172.16.0.2 . I was able to traceroute to the IPv4 Internet after configuring the above, of course using real addresses instead of the above documentary addresses. However, manually doing so was tedious and error-prone. It will also be cumbersome when there is a lot of nodes in the private IPv4 subnet, as the above configuration only works for a single IPv4 host. Therefore, I suggest adding an option to set tayga into CLAT mode instead of PLAT mode. The details are follow: New option clat-prefix (optional) When set, tayga will work in CLAT instead of PLAT mode. When translating an IPv4 packet to an IPv6 packet, if the address is in the clat-ipv4-prefix, it will be translated into clat-prefix, otherwise, it will be translated into prefix as usual. In this case, prefix should be set to the provider NAT64 subnet, and clat-prefix should be set to a /96 routed to the client. Also, the ipv6-addr option, if not set, will be calculated using the clat-prefix instead of prefix. New option clat-ipv4-prefix (optional) It is meaningful only when clat-prefix is set. The addresses within this option are assigned to IPv4-only hosts behind the client. Those addresses enable IPv4 connectivity over IPv6 network by 464XLAT. Addresses in clat-ipv4-prefix will be translated using clat-prefix instead of prefix. If clat-prefix is set but clat-ipv4-prefix is not set, no IPv4 addresses will be translated to clat-prefix except static mappings, but IPv6 addresses within clat-prefix will still be translated to IPv4 prefix. IPv6 addresses in either prefix or clat-prefix will be directly translated to IPv4 over tayga, other IPv6 addresses will be translated using the dynamic-pool as usual. The dynamic-pool must not overlap with clat-ipv4-prefix, otherwise we don't know how to translate such addresses. To summarise the translation method, IPv4 - IPv6 if in map, translate using it if in dynamic-pool, translate using it, reject the package if not found if in clat-ipv4-prefix, translate using clat-prefix otherwise, translate using prefix IPv6 - IPv4 if in map, translate using it if in prefix or clat-prefix, translate using it otherwise, generate an IPv4 address in the dynamic pool. For example, the above configuration, under the above proposed configuration, will be configured as follows: ipv4-addr 172.16.0.1 prefix 2001:db8::::/96 clat-prefix 2001:db8:0:ff00::/96 clat-ipv4-prefix 172.16.0.0/30 and create a dummy interface dummy0 with IPv4 address set to 172.16.0.2 . If there is a physical IPv4 local network behind the client, this step is omitted because the machine has already a working IPv4 address, and clat-ipv4-prefix is adjusted to hold all of the local network. That's all we should need. If we want the IPv6 Internet to access the IPv4 subnet behind the client, we may add a dynamic-pool, which must

Bug#698343: owncloud: sends wrong content-type
Dear David, I always set the content-type explicitly in all my PHP scripts since my website is written with a variety of codes including HTML, XHTML, plain text, etc. For debugging purposes, my server is set to send text/plain as default, and all others including phpmyadmin and wordpress works painlessly. The bug means the script fails to set the appropriate content-type. The server administrator should not need to know what content-type is needed for owncloud. The only expected thing is that it work in a modern browser, no matter it is HTML, XHTML, or some other XYZ markup. As my server has now become stable, I am not going to install anything from experimental on it. If I have spare time, I may set up a virtual machine to test it. Bug#709867: libc6: sometimes cannot resolve hostname
Package: libc6 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I'm suffering from exactly this issue in a forum post: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=10t=91558 It says: There is something wrong with networking in Wheezy but I can't identify it. I first experienced a problem shortly after updating a mixed Squeeze/Wheezy box almost one year ago. Suddenly Kmail refused to connect to my email service provider claiming the host could not be found. I could ping the host, but Kmail insisted it didn't see it. I submitted a bug report which as far as I know has never been addressed. The problem remains. And it's not just Kmail. Sometime after an update of Iceweasel, Iceweasel began having issues DNS issues. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn't, though it seems to be the same sites that repeatedly miss (mostly news sites, and my email provider). Oddly enough, installing Tor solved the problem. Then Tor broke and I had to remove it. I was desperate so I tried using Konqueror. Same problem (among others). So I did what any experienced Windows user would, I wiped the HD and reinstalled a fresh copy of Wheezy. I still have the same problem. Neither Konqueror nor Iceweasel will connect to certain sites, though they connect to others (it's about 50/50). Unknown host and Server not found respectively. I tried Kmail again after nearly a year to see if it had been fixed. Same problem. I finally decided to try out Chromium. Guess what? Chromium has no issues whatsoever. Been using it for several months now painlessly. I am, and have been, using KDE exclusively. I have no proxy selected under network settings. /etc/resolve.conf is automagically configured to my ISPs router address 192.168.1.1. I have tried networking using both Network Manager and the traditional /etc/network/interfaces methods. I'm using the latter now as I seem to have fewer issues with it. Network Manager is installed but disabled. (I did purge it once while trying to solve this problem without any effect). Then he is told to disable IPv6, however, my machine is running inside an IPv6 network so I can do NOTHING! I NEED IPV6 FOR NETWORK CONNECTIVITY! More details about my machine: Debian wheezy, KDE desktop, bind9 installed locally. /etc/resolv.conf: domain miklcct.csproject.org search miklcct.csproject.org nameserver ::1 nameserver 127.0.0.1 nameserver 2001:470:20::2 nameserver 74.82.42.42 There is no network-manager. Absolutely not. local bind9 is configured to serve dns64 in my local network. My machine is a gateway. This issue occurs everywhere including kmail, konqueror, iceweasel, or even aptitude! but not chromium, so I believe this is a library problem. And please don't ever tell me to upgrade my system to testing/unstable. I NEED A ROCK SOLID SYSTEM WHICH DOES NOT BREAK FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS. I am happy to issue workarounds on my system. This behaviour is not documented in the man page. When combined with the following code snipped from package shadow in libmisc/setugid.c: int setup_groups (const struct passwd *info) { /* * Set the real group ID to the primary group ID in the password * file. */ if (setgid (info-pw_gid) == -1) { int err = errno; perror (setgid); SYSLOG ((LOG_ERR, bad group ID `%d' for user `%s': %s\n, info-pw_gid, info-pw_name, strerror (err))); closelog (); return -1; } #ifdef HAVE_INITGROUPS /* * For systems which support multiple concurrent groups, go get * the group set from the /etc/group file. */ if (initgroups (info-pw_name, info-pw_gid) == -1) { int err = errno; perror (initgroups); SYSLOG ((LOG_ERR, initgroups failed for user `%s': %s\n, info-pw_name, strerror (err))); closelog (); return -1; } #endif return 0; } this behaviour would cause me to be logged in with egid != gid, which makes bash thinks that it is run setgid and gives unintended behaviour. Also, it has a potential security hole to the whole system by setting the egid wrongly. I found this bug in a Debian GNU

Bug#695025: libreoffice crashes when saving a new document with ctrl-s
Package: libreoffice Version: 1:3.5.4+dfsg-4 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss Dear Maintainer, I have found Libreoffice consistently crashing on my machine, with makes all the new documents lost. My system is a fully updated wheezy system, with KDE desktop. Bug#695025: libreoffice crashes when saving a new document with ctrl-s
I have libreoffice-kde installed. I use the oxygen theme. I don't use ibus but uses scim. Do you use libreoffice-kde / the KDE dialogs? What happens if you use the LibreOffice dialogs? I bet that it's just a bug with the KDE dialogs. If if that is the case: do you use any special theeme (i.e. not oxygen)? -kde is known to crash with (some of) them. (And no, I will not care, get some KDE people to care if you want that fixed.) Oh, and did you see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=620422? Do you happen to use ibus or something? In which case it would be a duplicate of that bug. file saving dialogue every time. However, it does not crash by clicking the save button using a mouse. Of course, that doesn't include *any* dialog. Bug#654396: tayga: packet misrouted into the Internet
Package: tayga Version: 0.9.2-3 Severity: important Tags: ipv6 I tried to access an IPv4-only host (ap.miklcct.csproject.org) in my intranet. As DNS64 is set up, it returns a mapped IPv6 address as usual. My mapped IP blocks are 192.168.0.0/24 and 2001:470:19:a87::/96. My tayga address is 192.168.0.1. Moreover, masquerading is set on my Internet interface eth2. I can access the host by typing its IPv4 literal, but not via its host name or IPv6 literal. Here are my traceroute results: michael@server:~$ traceroute -4 ap.miklcct.csproject.org traceroute to ap.miklcct.csproject.org (192.168.1.1), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets 1 ap.miklcct.csproject.org (192.168.1.1) 0.386 ms 0.472 ms 0.597 ms michael@server:~$ traceroute -6 ap.miklcct.csproject.org traceroute to ap.miklcct.csproject.org (2001:470:19:a87::c0a8:101), 30 hops max, 80 byte packets 1 2001:470:19:a87::c0a8:1 (2001:470:19:a87::c0a8:1) 0.107 ms 0.017 ms 0.015 ms 2 119247183154.ctinets.com (2001:470:19:a87::77f7:b79a) 0.091 ms 0.311 ms 0.400 ms 3 * * * 4 * * * 5 * * * 6 * * * 7 * * * 8 *^C As you can see, the packet leaked to the Internet on hop 2. Moreover, tracerouting to other mapped private IPv4 addresses (such as 2001:470:19:a87::172.16.0.1) gets similar results. I believe that this issue is not related to the source address, so feel free to use ap.miklcct.csproject.org for testing from an IPv6 capable host. Note that my network is firewalled so that you can only ping or traceroute into it. To reproduce this on your own network, do the following: 1. Install tayga on your NAT44 gateway 2. Pick an unused /96 in your site for tayga (do not use the Well-Known Prefix) 3. traceroute6 to a mapped private IPv4 address, but not the server's own address. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_HK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_HK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages tayga depends on: ii libc6 2.13-23 tayga recommends no packages. tayga suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/default/tayga changed: RUN=yes CONFIGURE_IFACE=yes CONFIGURE_NAT44=no DAEMON_OPTS= /etc/tayga.conf changed: tun-device nat64 ipv4-addr 192.168.0.1 prefix 2001:470:19:a87::/96 dynamic-pool 192.168.0.0/24 data-dir /var/spool/tayga -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
