Bug#439123: aria2 segfaults on AMD64 after libc6 upgrade

2007-08-22 Thread Patrick Ruckstuhl
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi Marc,

I just updated to a newer version yesterday, could you try the new
version and see if this fixes the problem?

Thanks and Regards,

Patrick

 Package: aria2
 Version: 0.11.0-1
 Severity: important

After doing an aptitude full-upgrade on my AMD64 Lenny machine, which
upgraded libc6{,-dev,-i386} among other things, aria2c doesn't work any
longer, but instead reproducibly segfaults after start, independent of
 the used torrent file:

 --- snip ---
 $ aria2c -T TomJerry_Pencil_Mania.avi.torrent
 0/113.6MB 0% - D:0.00 U:0.00(0) 0 peers
 Segmentation fault
 $ echo $?
 139
 $
 --- snip ---

On my i386 Lenny machine, aria2c still works after an
 aptitude full-upgrade.

Since this report I switched servers to amd64 and on this platform the

Hi,

could you try to build the package with this patch:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1670860group_id=159897atid=813675

Maybe also of interest is the bug of the upstream software
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1666263group_id=159897atid=813673

I don't own a mac and can't test this myself.

Thanks,

Jup, and uploading then the latter.

Like this?

First version of the package will depend on gcc and build EiffelStudio
from the PorterPackage

Next release (first real release) will depend on the other version of
EiffelStudio and then build EiffelStudio from the Eiffel source.

Or like this? (Which would lead to extremely long build times)

The source consists of the PorterPackage + Eiffel source and the build
script looks something like this:

-build intermediate eiffel compiler from porter package
-build real eiffel studio with the intermediate compiler

thanks and regards,

Patrick

If feasible I'm going to change the layout (or at least make it
possible to change the layout) of the Unix/Linux installation to be
FHS conformant. There is now a wiki page for this here:

This should make the packaging easier.

could download patches, documents, etc from the Oracle MetaLink

I did not know that the support portal of Oracle is called MetaLink,
the Metalink that is supported is this standard: http://www.metalinker.org

Is it likely that people will be confused by this? Should I add some
