The Technical Committee is not the right place to send this bug
report. Under the circumstances it seems unlikely that this report
will lead to an improvement in the software so I am closing it rather
 than reassigning it.

Bug#546227: TEST_AUTHOR ??

2009-09-12 Thread Paul Miller
Why are you guys running this test? Are you the package author?
Unset TEST_AUTHOR and you're all set.

I will fix this in two ways. 1) I'll make it so the test won't
run unless you're the test author, and then 2) I'll fix the
problem -- the problem being perl critic (they are suggestions).

Bug#457642: libpam-shield: shield-purge does not purge database

2007-12-24 Thread Paul Miller
Oh, okay. I was under the impression that shield-purge could be used to
purge the database regardless of the quarantine time. Perhaps a --force
option would be helpful. I suppose the man page indicates that I
shouldn't execute it manually. :)

Does shield-purge compute the time difference between the trigger time and
the current time, or does it assume that it is executed once per day? The
later would explain the behavior I was experiencing. I would prefer
computing the actual time difference for a more predictable operation.

There should be an option to re-trigger based on the database. This
option is useful when recomputing the firewall rules after a reboot, etc.

Excellent program though. I've been looking for this type of solution for
a long time. pam_tally works great, but it doesn't block the remote host.
 Now I use both.

-Paul

 Hi,
Please don't file another bug for the same thing, just replay.
Check out last line of /etc/security/shield.conf which defines for how
long entries should be kept. Cron job does it when quarantine time is
reached. Default is 1w (1 week).
If this is what You were looking for I will close those bugs.

Debian already fixed this problem in 0.9.8c-3, but the version string

When using multiple subnets on the same interface, enumerate-if does not

Bug#301269: apcupsd-cgi: multimon.cgi links do not refer to /cgi-bin/apcupsd/ directory

2005-03-24 Thread Paul Miller
Package: apcupsd-cgi

The cgi scripts are installed in /usr/lib/cgi-bin/apcupsd and, by
default, Apache uses /usb/lib/cgi-bin as its cgi-bin directory. The

Bug#300635: vnc4server: permanent inetd servers

2005-03-20 Thread Paul Miller
Package: vnc4server
Version: 4.0-7
Severity: wishlist

I would find it very useful to be able to run multiple permanent vnc servers
(one per user) from inetd using the vnc4server
script. The problem is that the vnc4server does not handle errors, such as a
missing ~/.vnc/passwd file, in a inetd friently
way. I would like to see this script check for the inetd option and if it is
specified, run Xvnc appropriately with the user
xsession setup. The example in Xvnc's manual page does not setup the user's
xsession environment or start a window manager.
