Hi,

I talked to Davide and he is saying he still supports xmail. Let's
update it. Can you NMU this version since you worked so hard?

 Dear Radu,

I'd like to give you a hand with pvpgn package which needs a little
care. I took some time to update it and I've managed to fix all bugs,
update package for new upstream version (with SQL injection fixes) and
for new release of support files. I introduced sqlite support,
logrotate, unbundled libcdb and did many other changes (please find
full list of changes below). You're welcome to review my work in the
 following repository:

 http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=users/onlyjob/pvpgn.git

I'm happy to take responsibility for those changes so I took liberty
to add myself to Uploaders. With your permission I'd like to upload
updated package or you're welcome to take any of my improvements for
your future upload. What do you think?

 Thanks.

I went through the log and prepared an NMU for fixing the policy issue,
as mentioned in Debian policy document I symlinked the sample folder
under /usr/share/doc/xmail to /usr/share/xmail and in the maint script
replaced the path to use /usr/share/xmail instead. I wanted to test
this scenario on piuparts but failed to do so.

It seems to me that the attached patch symlinks
 /usr/share/xmail/sample to /usr/share/doc/xmail/sample (while it
should do the contrary, right?) and does not move
 /usr/share/doc/xmail/sample to /usr/share/xmail/sample.
Vasudev, did you actually test it with 'dpkg --path-exclude=...'?

Also, although a minor issue, unrelated whitespace changes are
generally not well suited for a NMU.

To end with, I see that xmail is a leaf package, its popcon has been
rapidly decreasing since 2011, there are a number of bugs with no
reply from the maintainer for years, and the last maintainer upload
was in June, 2010. So perhaps this package would be a candidate for
removal from Debian? Radu, are you still interested in maintaining
 xmail in Debian?

Hi,

I tried to reproduce this problem using ilohamail 0.8.14-0rc3sid5.1 and

Ilohamail opened it corectly. 'Show Headers' confirmed that
content-transfer-encoding was lowercase.

Couldn't there haven been another problem on your end? Can you try to
reproduce the problem using the latest version?

Bug#452406: ilohamail: postinst fails

2007-11-25 Thread Radu Spineanu

Hi Daniel,

as a consequence, apache is not set up. I think the workaround
is to manually copy the file
 /usr/share/IlohaMail/debian/Ilohamail.apache into
 /etc/apache2/conf.d and edit it.

From what I understand here you have apache2 installed, right?

I: Installing apache config files: apache
During the installation phase ilohamail asks you what webserver to
setup. It seems you selected apache, otherwise that line would have said:

I: Installing apache config files: apache2

Let me know is this works.

Cheers,
Radu Spineanu

Bug#447715: xen-tools: Please remove useless recommends on perl-docSteve

2007-10-25 Thread Radu Spineanu

Hi Steve,

  The reason is this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xen-create-image --manual
You need to install the perl-doc package to use this program.

Now you could argue that 'man xen-create-image' works just
as well, but my counter-argument would be that a recommended
package is not a mandatory requirement, just a recommended one!

He probably means that aptitude installs recommended packages, and we
should add it to suggests.

Or am I wrong?

I tried to reproduce it with cacti and i found the same problem again.

Since both cacti and simba are using dbconfig-common a proper fix should
be applied there.

A possible solution would be to modify the Configure database with
dbconfig-common? template to have a false default value.

This is usually solved by running compiz with the --replace flag to make it
replace any currently running window manager. Does that solve your problem?

I forgot to mention, i was running compiz with --replace.
Without the --replace flag the error was different, asking me to add the

Sean Finney wrote:
 Package: simba

 hi there,

it was recently brought to my attention that the recommended method
for using dbconfig-common in a package's config and postrm scripts was not
policy compliant as hinted in the subject of this bugreport. the problem
is that in both the config and the postrm you should test whether the
files/programs in question exist before sourcing/executing them. more
information is in a link below.

NOTE that this is slightly different from the original posts about
mass-bug filing in which only the postrm was mentioned, but the
config file is too. so, even if you've fixed your package after i
initially posted about this, you might want to take a second look
 to make sure.

this mass bug-filing was announced 2006/08/19, though it seems
there's a problem with the list archives for debian-devel. fortunately,
 i cc'd the dbconfig list:

 http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/dbconfig-common-devel/2006-August/000586.html

and information for how you can fix your package:

 http://people.debian.org/~seanius/policy/dbconfig-common.html/ch-develguide.html#s-hooks

fortunately, the fix is pretty simple, though i apologize for
the inconvenience. feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Bug#386355: hyperestraier: init script start and stop problems

Package: hyperestraier
Version: 1.4.1-1

After a system crash hyperstraier fails to start detecting $ROOTDIR/_pid
is present even though that process is not valid anymore.

At that point if you try to stop the daemon, like shutting down the system

deleting the pid file the whole shutdown process freezes.

To reproduce this, start an usual hyperestraier instance, kill
the corresponding process and try to start/stop the daemon.

used component could only be used in conjunction with illegal material
at own risk. At least we should inform our users that those files are
not obtained by reverse-engineering, but taken verbatim.

I know that Blizzard wants to protect itself from other Battle.Net
servers (because that would circumvent the copy-protection through the
serial number). So the risk's there. Even an automatic download like
with msttcorefonts might not be ok in this case, at least IMHO and IANAL.

You are right. We also can not distribute the support files in non-free.

So what would be an acceptable solution ?

An option is keeping pvpgn in main because of the Westwood Online
support and informing our users about the support files when they are
being downloaded.

Since upstream didn't send the blizzard TOS yet, i decided to google it

The most interesting part is:

A. You are entitled to use Battle.net for your own personal use, but you

I talked to upstream.

The support files are downloaded by the client when connecting to the
battle.net server. From those files only ix86v1.mpq contains a dll with
a hashing function, and the rest are icons and texts.

When connecting to battle.net the files are first downloaded and AFTER
that the TOS is shown.

pvpgn also has beta support for Westwood Online, which doesn't require
the support files.

Maybe it would be better to upload pvpgn to contrib, and a pvpgn-support
package in non-free.

I just revisited the bug report and I fully agree with you. The package
really should be in contrib instead and possibly download the files in
the postinst script with a warning attached to it.

However, a quick glance shows that there is also some basic Westwood
Online support in the package, and albeit still experimental it seems as
it is usable without non-free data files. I don't know if this is really
 usable, though.

It's my fault more than Philipp's since i am the maintainer now.

Keeping the package in main was my choice, based on the fact that Robert
Millan asked debian-legal before uploading the package.

Tommorow, i will talk with a pvpgn developer to see if the package is
usable without the support files. If the answer is negative, i will
upload a new version to contrib and request removal from main.

Any suggestions ?

Bug#362571: dbconfig-common: wrong permissions for the remote mysql user

2006-04-14 Thread Radu Spineanu
Package: dbconfig-common
Version: 1.8.11
Severity: important

I was trying to debug a problem i had with simba and ended up looking at
this code:

###
### perform a few sanity checks on the data
###

# if dbserver is unset, that means localhost.
if [ -z $dbc_dbserver ]; then
# if the server is local, only allow connections from
localhost
dbc_dballow=localhost
else
# otherwise, only tell the remote database to allow
from us
dbc_dballow=`hostname`
fi

I see two bugs here.

The first one, and the one i am getting: if i tell dbserver to use localhost
dbc_dballow gets set to my hostname (stark). Stark hostname resolves to my
real ip address,
on which, by default, mysql does not listen to.

The second bug: if i would actually write the data to a remote server, that
machine may or may not
be in the same domain name as me (search field in /etc/resolv.conf), so it
should be hostname -f, or even
better an ip address.

This is how i think the code should look like:

###
### perform a few sanity checks on the data
###

# if dbserver is unset, that means localhost.
if [ -z $dbc_dbserver ] || [ $dbc_dbserver = localhost ];
then
# if the server is local, only allow connections from
localhost
dbc_dballow=localhost
else
# otherwise, only tell the remote database to allow
from us
dbc_dballow=`hostname -f`

RoPkg consists from a Rsync module, a DB module and some base
classes. The Rsync module parses rsync configuration
and client log files, being able to generate new rsync configuration
files without losing your comments or separator lines.
The DB module implements a singleton database pool class which is able
to connect to multiple databases at once and a database object
(an object who can be loaded/saved from/to a database).

However, wouldn't it be more appropiate to make a libmysqlclient-dev

Bug#341468: dokuwiki: wrong apache setup for clean URLs

2005-11-30 Thread Radu Spineanu
Package: dokuwiki
Severity: normal

Hello

The default dokuwiki setup can not work with clean URLs.
 RewriteRule ^$docroot/(.*)\$$docroot/\$1 [PT]
 RewriteRule ^$docroot\$$docroot/doku.php [PT]

It's incomplete and can not work.

Probably a better solution would be to keep the .htaccess that comes
with the dokuwiki source. Also you may need this to add it :
 RewriteBase $docroot

Thanks,

Bug#340493: flow-tools: flow-export : -m argument parsing, postgresql export

2005-11-24 Thread Radu Spineanu
Hello
Alexey Bestchiokov wrote:
 1) -m fields. man example :
 ~ flow-export -f3 -mSRCADDR,DSTADDR,DOCTETS -u
 user:password:host:port:name:table flow
flow-export: Out of order field: DOCTETS
 flow-export: ftxfield_parse(): failed

However, -m0x3040LL (the same) works ok.

The following should be mentioned in the manpage, and also is an error
in the example.

flow-export expects the arguments to be given in the order they are
specified in the man page, and so correct would be:
-mDOCTETS,SRCADDR,DSTADDR
(just looked through the code to understand this)

 2) postgresql export
 /usr/bin/flow-export -f5 -m0x3040LL -u
 user:password:host:5432:name:table flow

flow-export: Missing field in dbaseURI, expecting
 user:pwd:host:port:name:table.
 /usr/bin/flow-export: Exported 0 records

 fix :
src/flow-export.c, line 896 should look like this
if (!db_user || !db_pwd || !db_host || !db_port || !db_name || !db_table) {

(db_port instead of db_tmp, db_tmp declaration at line 869 may be removed.)

Actually, PQsetdbLogin should be replaced with PQconnectdb as
PQsetdbLogin is deprecated and exists mainly to support legacy applications.
 But this is upstream problem.

i will accept this patch

 3) postgresql export, quotation for SRCADDR, DSTADDR, NEXTHOP,
 PEER_NEXTHOP, EXADDR, ROUTER_SC
fields is used so queries with such fileds will fail. its ok for mysql
but in pgsql style quotation may be used only for database objects
 and table fields.

 fix :
 src/flow-export.c, lines 1204, 1207, 1262, 1280, 1283, 1380, 1383, 1389,
 1392 should be
 if (quote) fmt_buf[len++] = '\'';

Question: why \' and not just ' ?

Bug#327713: flow-nfilter bug in variable binding

2005-09-12 Thread Radu Spineanu
Hello
On Sun, Sep 11, 2005 at 02:09:36PM -0300, Carlos Carvalho wrote:

The file /etc/flow-tools/cfg/filter.cfg supplied with the package
contain filter definitions with variable binding such as:

 filter-primitive VAR_ADDR
   type ip-address
   permit @{ADDR:-0.0.0.0}

 and

 filter-definition ip-dst-addr
   match ip-destination-address VAR_ADDR

They don't work because the primitive is named VAR_ADDR but the permit
 line uses only ADDR.

I am pretty sure you haven't followed the examples correctly.
This is an example of a proper use of nfilter with ip-src-addr (or
ip-dst-addr same thing)
$flow-cat ft-v05.2005-09-01.05* | flow-nfilter -f
 /etc/flow-tools/cfg/filter.cfg -F ip-src-addr -v ADDR=193.231.32.85 |
 flow-print
 (carefull about the wrapping)

As you can see you do not expand VAR_ADDR but ADDR. VAR_ADDR is the
primitive name.

Finally, the - after the : in the default specification is
necessary to avoid a syntax error but it's not mentioned in the man
 page.

This is true. I will report it upstream, maybe make a patch for debian
manpage until a new version is released.

I made everything work in my installation by removing the VAR_ prefix
of the variable bindings but this might be considered fixing the
 symptom and not the cause.
You don't have to do this.

Bug#322869: fprobe: allocates all available memory

Steve Langasek wrote:

In that case, could fprobe be turned into a dummy package that depends

I don't see it being a problem.

The old fprobe didn't have an init script or configuration file when i
adopted it. fprobe-ng configures itself on installation and creates a
file in /etc/default.

On an upgrade fprobe would be uninstalled and the user prompted with the
initial questions for fprobe-ng.

There is a theoretical vuln in fprobe-ng that was reported by Florian
Weimer[1]. I sent an email to upstream about this, he said it's highly
unlikely it could be used in DoS.

Hmm. I've fixed this issue in 1.1. Each time fprobe start it use random
CRC16 polynomial and random special 'shuffle' table, thus DoS attack is
something purely hypothetical: intruder must know all random parameters
(total 258 bytes- ~1077 variants) to success the DoS.

However i asked him if he is still willing to fix this anyway by using
Florian Weimer's suggestions. I am waiting for his reply.

Thanks,
Radu

Thanks for the bug report.
I will choose one of two options: either change again configuration file
handling so that files are symlinked the other way around ( in /etc ), b
uut i am going to have to clarify this with the policy, as i know the
configuration files must reside in /etc.
Or the other better way that xmail will be patched so it overwrites in
this case the real file and not the symlink.

Bug#290772: Processed: fet FTBFS

2005-01-22 Thread Radu Spineanu
At the end of the build log i see fet is being built.

Where can I see that build log?
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=fetver=3.9.20-1arch=armstamp=1104807080file=logas=raw

Looks the same as the sparc ldd bug, but that could be just a coincidence.

I don't think so. sparc ldd problem is reproducible with small sample
program, but this fet problem cannot be seen on my environment.
Sending this bug without any investigate is not appropriate action.
Please note i sent an email to debian-arm almost a week ago with no
response.
Also not so important, i asked on #debian-devel for some help, the only
response i got being that the error could be triggered by anything, even
the binary not being built. At the end of the buildd log i can see the
binary is indeed built.
Unfortunately i could not test the build, my first intention was to
downgrade the bug, but i decided not to since it was keeping fet out of
testing.

I also contacted Marco d'Itri about the qt errors, he responded saying
they would not trigger a ldd failure.

I downgrade this bug to normal because I cannot reproduce this
problem. However, it's sure that there's no 3.9.20-1 for arm. If we
need to dupload for arm, please let me know. I rebuild again and
upload it.
Please upload it, when a new version will come out, we'll see if this
happens again.
