Bug#1036361: Akonadi floods log file .local/share/akonadi/db_data/mysql.err after upgrade to debian 12

2023-05-19 Thread Ralf E-Mail
package: akonadi-server
version: 4:22.12.3-1
severity: minor

I upgrade my system from debian 11 to debian 12.
After that the log files
.local/share/akonadi/db_data/mysql.err
.local/share/akonadi/db_data/mysql.err.old
swelled incredibly fast with 2 constantly repeating error messages.

Searching the in the internet I found the page
https://forums.opensuse.org/t/akonadi-floods-its-mysql-err-with-an-error-message/153196

The command
mysql_upgrade --defaults-file=/home/username/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf
--socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket

solved the issue for me.
Still I consider it a bug that should be fixed.

Thanks for all your efforts!

Ralf

Bug#1001270: Sddm: Autologin no longer works after upgrade from 10 buster to 11 bullseye

2021-12-07 Thread Ralf E-Mail
Package: sddm
Version: 0.19.0-3

I recently upgraded my system to bullseye and sddm autologin no longer
works.
The screen gets stuck black with the a cursor blinking, but nothing more
happens.
I cannot switch to the console via ctrl+alt+F1.
However login in via ssh from another machine works perfectly.

The file /etc/pam.d/sddm-autologin is not modified and identical to the
upstream (debian) version.

In journalctl i find the following sddm entries (please ignore the
QIODevice::write entry - state.conf is by purpose not writeable and never
caused any problems).

Bug#956325: Sddm version 0.18.1-1 seems to fix my problem

2020-04-15 Thread Ralf E-Mail
Hi,

I compiled the bullseye version of sddm (0.18.1-1) without any changes
for my buster systems and the crashes seem to have gone away.

So I repeat my wish to consider updating sddm in buster.

Thanks for your work,
Ralf

Bug#956325: Sddm: Crashes when login in - please consider updating sddm in buster with upstream bugfix release

2020-04-09 Thread Ralf E-Mail
Package: sddm
Version: 0.18.0-1

I just upgrade my two systems to buster and experience on both systems
now frequent (not always) crashes when login in using sddm.
The screen gets black, the cursor blinks in the upper left corner but
nothing happens.
Killing X/sddm with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace helps and makes sddm reapper.

There is a promising update to the package in version 0.18.1:
"Fix crashes when creating a user session", cf.
 https://github.com/sddm/sddm/blob/v0.18.1/ChangeLog

This version is however only included in bullseye / unstable, yet
installing that would require additional library updates
(libqt5core5a, libgcc).
I would like to stick to the buster stable release.

Judging from the upstream changelog, I recommend considering updating
the buster sddm package to the bugfixed 0.18.1 upstream version.
I would be happy to test a 0.18.1-1 package built for buster.

Thanks for all your work,
Ralf

Bug#955026: Right touchpad button not enabled on lenovo z580 with synaptics touchpad

2020-03-26 Thread Ralf E-Mail
Package: linux-image-4.19.0-8-amd64
Version: 4.19.98-1

My lenovo Z580 laptop has a left and a right touchpad button.
In Debian 10 they both behave like a left touchpad button, i.e. my right
"mouse" button is missing.
I suppose that the right button is not enabled by psmouse.
X uses the evdev driver that states "evdev: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad:
Found 1 mouse buttons".
Other selected information see below.

Bug#687168: Please consider changing the default resolution in generic.ppd to 600 dpi

2012-09-10 Thread Ralf E-Mail
Package: libwine
Version: 1.4.1-2
Severity: wishlist

I suggest to change the default resolution in
/usr/share/wine/generic.ppd from 300 dpi to 600 dpi.

The reason is that I have an old windows application that printed well
on 300 dpi and 600 dpi printers in the original windows environment.
Under wine, this very application prints only approximately the upper
left quarter of page as a whole page: The problem is already in the
intermediate postscript file. The individual elements, e.g. fonts,
images are included with the correct size, yet their locations are
wrong (the distance from the upper left corner is doubled both with
respect to x and y coordinates).

For years I corrected the generic.ppd with the below patch without
encountering any regressions on other applications. Thus I suggest to
consider this patch.

Thanks for your consideration in advance,
Ralf

Bug#685443: Kmail: Missing dependency akonadi-backend-mysql

2012-08-20 Thread Ralf E-Mail
Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.4.11.1+l10n-3
Severity: severe

Dear all,
I upgraded my system from squeeze to wheezy and ended up having
akonadi-server and akonadi-backend-sqlite installed (both 1.7.2-1).
However when starting kmail, it complained about the missing akonadi server
and it provided the information that mysql is missing, which indeed wasn't
installed. I was unable to access my emails as the window which the
complained could not be closed.
After installing akonadi-backend-mysql which pulled also mysql,
everything started working again.
Please fix this issue for the wheezy release.

Thanks in advance,
Ralf

Bug#685196: Please re-add fonts (.fon -files) removed in current fix for bug #676443

2012-08-18 Thread Ralf E-Mail
Package: libwine

Please re-add the .fon-fonts-files as they are required for some applications.
This implies using a different fix for bug #676443.

Thanks in advance,
Ralf

Bug#676443: These fonts are used - please readd them and find another solution

2012-08-17 Thread Ralf E-Mail
Dear all,

yes, I can confirm that these fonts are used.
Please readd the fonts, if there is not a relevant reason for the removal,
e.g. legal reason.
I do not consider this bug grave enough to justify the removal.
Please include them already in the wheezy release.

Thanks in advance for your time, efforts and consideration,
Ralf
