Hello,

I just made an important observation:

ro...@funka ~> cat .Xmodmap
!switch the Caps lock and the esc key (good for vi)
remove Lock = Caps_Lock
add Lock = Escape
keysym Caps_Lock = Escape
keysym Escape = Caps_Lock

Now if I do "xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap", the keyboard shortcuts are lost (only
'Upper Workspace' keeps working)! And startup, the .xmodmap is applied,
too, and I think this is the reason why after every new login the
shortcuts do no work. The question remains why this .Xmodmap affects an
unrelated shortcut.

I tried this, but it did not work. Maybe the problem is related to
something else: Both in X and on the console I have the correct keyboard
layout "de". But in the gdm greeter, it is the "en" layout, and I dont
know why.

2009-05-13 Thread Roman Bertle
Package: xfce4
Version: 4.6.1
Severity: normal

Hello,

in Settings -> Window Manager, I use the "Keyboard"-tab to change these
Window shortcuts:
Upper/Bottom/Left/Right Workspace  ->  Up / Down /
   Left / Right

is this key from MS Windows.

When I logout and login, or sometimes even after some time of
inactivity, only the Up shortcut works, the other fail.
If I open again the Window Manager, all these shortcuts are still there,
but only if I enter them again, they work.

This bug occurs on to of my systems.

Bug#520278: python2.6: The --prefix option of distutils works wrongly

2009-03-18 Thread Roman Bertle
Package: python2.6
Version: 2.6.1-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I have a setup.py file looking like:

from distutils.core import setup

setup(name='gcinvoice',
  py_modules=['gcinvoice'],
  )

Using this setup under python2.5 gives:

python2.5 setup.py install --prefix=/usr/local/stow/test
[...]
running install_lib
creating /usr/local/stow/test
creating /usr/local/stow/test/lib
creating /usr/local/stow/test/lib/python2.5
creating /usr/local/stow/test/lib/python2.5/site-packages
copying build/lib/gcinvoice.py ->
/usr/local/stow/test/lib/python2.5/site-packages

But using python2.6 I get:

python2.6 setup.py install --prefix=/usr/local/stow/test
[...]
creating /usr/local/stow/test
creating /usr/local/stow/test/local
creating /usr/local/stow/test/local/lib
creating /usr/local/stow/test/local/lib/python2.6
creating /usr/local/stow/test/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages
copying build/lib.linux-x86_64-2.6/gcinvoice.py ->
/usr/local/stow/test/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages

Here, there is an additional 'local' directory, and instead of
site-packages I get dist-packages. This looks wrong for me; the
documentation of python2.6
(file:///usr/share/doc/python2.6/html/install/index.html) states:
"In either case, the --prefix option defines the installation base, and
the --exec-prefix option defines the platform-specific installation
base, which is used for platform-specific files. (Currently, this just
means non-pure module distributions, but could be expanded to C
libraries, binary executables, etc.) If --exec-prefix is not supplied,
it defaults to --prefix. Files are installed as follows:
Type of fileInstallation Directory Override option
pure module distributionprefix/lib/pythonX.Y/site-packages
--install-purelib
"
I.e. there should be no "local" under "prefix", and it should be
"site-packages".

Best Regards, Roman

Hello,

even after upgrading to 3.1.1-1, this bug remains, kphotoalbum crashes

Further, I moved away ~/.kde/share/config/kphotoalbumrc, and started
anew kphotalbum. Even in this clean state, the application crashes
immediatly if I select configure kphotalbum in the menu.

Bug#459204: gramps: Upon safeing destroys database

2008-01-04 Thread Roman Bertle
Package: gramps
Version: 2.2.9-2
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

Hello,

after entering data for 2 hours, I made some reports, everything looked
fine. Then I tried to export the data (to the portable XML format), but
I got the error:

  File "/usr/share/gramps/GrampsDb/_WriteXML.py", line 453, in write_family

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_father_handle'

I closed, and restarted gramps, but there is a warning that the database is
corrupt, and old data is missing.

Best Regards, Roman

Another piece of information: The error occurs if one tries to search
using the menu entry custumer search.
But there is a second way to init a search. For example, one can
generate a "business customer report", and click on the button
"options". A window pops up where options can be set. And there is also
a field where a customer can be selected by pressing a button. The
interesting thing is that if this button is clicked in a quick way, the
error occurs, the search window pops up shortly, but disappears
immediatly. But if the button is clicked, holded, and released only
after a short time, the search dialog is persistent, it works.

Another informaton concerning this bug:

It only occurs if i search for transactions or invoices or customers. If
I open e.g. the Tax Table dialog, it works.

Hello,

The box "Get online quotes" is checked, and the "Type of quote source" is

Your guess is right, after switching from fvwm (1:2.5.23-2) to
metacity, it worked! Should I open a new bug against fvwm?

Hello,

the automatic retrieval of quotes using Finance::Quote does not work any
more. After clicking the "Get Quote" button, an error message pops up: "There
was an unknown error while retrieving the price quotes". At startup, gnucash

Found Finance::Quote version 1.13

Bug#440339: kphotoalbum: Drawings on photos get sometimes lost

2007-08-31 Thread Roman Bertle
Package: kphotoalbum
Version: 3.0.2-1+b1
Severity: normal

Hello,

in kphotoalbum it is possible to draw on images. However these drawings,
which should be stored along the other information entered for an image,
are often lost. This means if I view the photo sometimes later, the
description, categories etc I entered are here, but the drawings are
lost (not visible even if I set "Show drawings"). I checked also the
index.xml file, the drawings are often missing here.

Bug#406382: spca5xx-modules-2.6-amd64: Webcam fails with "No space left on device"

2007-01-10 Thread Roman Bertle
Package: spca5xx-modules-2.6-amd64
Severity: normal

Hello,

my webcam does not work with this driver:
# v4l-info
"open /dev/video0: No space left on device"
# demesg
/home/bastian/debian/tmp/linus/linux-modules-extra-2.6-2.6.18/debian/build/build_amd64_none_amd64_spca5xx/drivers/usb/spca5xx.c:
 [spca5xx_open:2437] DEALLOC error on init_Isoc

I found information in forums that this problem occurs if the usb-bus is
shared with other usb-devices due to bandwidth
(http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=247646), but the errors remains
if i shuffel around the usb-ports i use, and my brand new system should not
have bandwidth issues.

Finally I installed the (source only) package "gspca" instead of
"spca5xx-modules-2.6-amd64", it works now.

Best regards,

Roman

Bug#352097: firefox: Fonts are tiny, even with minimum font size

2006-02-09 Thread Roman Bertle
Package: firefox
Version: 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.1-2
Severity: normal

After upgrading to 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.1-1 (the error remains in
1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.1-2), my fonts are tiny although minimum font size was
set to 18 - the font size is rather 6. To get nice, not to thin fonts
its necessary to use a minimum font size of 24, but then the line
spacing seems to be to large.

I also tried to correctly set the display resolution in advanced font
configuration, but the new resolution is not remembered (or only not
displayed?), as descibed in bugzilla bug id=285126.

Package: python-matplotlib-doc

Hello,

it would be nice if the documentation included the Tutorial and the
User's Guide as present on

Bug#330509: tetex-bin: updmapsys gives many warnings

2005-09-28 Thread Roman Bertle
Package: tetex-bin
Version: 3.0-7
Severity: minor
Tags: experimental

Hello,

updmap-sys gives many warnings like:

updmap-sys: using map file `/usr/share/texmf/fonts/map/dvips/tetex/dvips35.map'

!!! WARNING: While searching for the right map file for `dvips35.map', we have
found the file
  /usr/share/texmf/fonts/map/dvips/tetex/dvips35.map
in the right location and we are using this
file. However, a map file with different content has been found in
the obsolete location
  /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/dvips35.map
Please, see which version you want to use and eventually update the
content of the used map file. Additionally, consider removing the
obsolete file.

I thinks they are due to the new location of .map files in tetex3. If
the old files cannot removed automatically during the upgrade to tetex3,
there should be some comment in README.Debian about these warnings, and
whether files can be removed manually.

Bug#319384: python-scientific: Please make Scientific available for different versions of python

2005-07-21 Thread Roman Bertle
Package: python-scientific
Severity: wishlist

It would be nice if python-scientific would be available for different
versions of python. We could have python-scientific depending on python,
and e.g. python2.4-scientific depending on python2.4
