Sounds reasonable, this should sufficiently alert anyone customising the file.

thanks!

Not really, just unusual, as I haven't really needed to use dpkg-divert before,
probably because it's rare
to have config files outside the usual locations.

Using dpkg-divert is fine. Maybe adding a single comment line mentioning
dpkg-divert in /usr/share/alsa-card-profile/mixer/profile-sets/default.conf,
just above the include of -custom.conf would be helpful.

2024-02-14 Thread Sander van Grieken
Package: pipewire-bin
Version: 1.0.3-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: san...@outrightsolutions.nl

Dear Maintainer,

The file /usr/share/alsa-card-profile/mixer/profile-sets/-custom.conf,
which is packaged as part of pipewire-bin and intended to be customized by the
user, is packaged in a way that it is overwritten by upgrades.

The file -custom.conf should not be included, or included with a different
name, e.g. -custom.conf.example

Bug#1012258: diffoscope crashes with IndexError: tuple index out of range

2022-06-02 Thread Sander van Grieken

Dear Maintainer,

Using diffoscope to compare two files (tar.gz) diffoscope crashes with the
stacktrace below.

The files in question are assets/private.mp3 from two builds of Electrum APK,
which are tar-gzipped file trees containing python code.

Testing out older versions of diffoscope reveals that the problem starts from
diffoscope-187

Bug#991385: pulseaudio: bluetooth auto-loopback for a2dp doesn't work since pulseaudio 14

2021-07-22 Thread Sander van Grieken
Package: pulseaudio
Version: 14.2-2
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: san...@outrightsolutions.nl

Dear Maintainer,

* What led up to the situation?

I had a working A2DP bluetooth sink working on a headless device, by utilizing
the auto-loopback feature :

load-module module-bluetooth-policy a2dp_source=1 hfgw=0

Somewhere between pulseaudio-13.0-5 and pulseaudio-14.2-2 the auto-loopback
functionality stopped working.
The audio is still arriving on the device (as seen by pavucontrol peak-meters),
just the loopback module isn't loaded anymore.

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?

I downgraded pulseaudio to 13.0-5, which restored the auto-loopback feature

Bug#986876: regression: libreoffice can't open filenames containing spaces

Oops, indeed it was user error. I created a wrapper script to set some
environment variables to start libreoffice a bit more sane under wayland, but
this expanded the file with spaces to individual positional arguments. Since
the wrapper script was also called 'libreoffice' I didn't immediately notice.

Since the last update was quite recent I thought it was a regression.

Bug#986876: regression: libreoffice can't open filenames containing spaces

2021-04-13 Thread Sander van Grieken
Package: libreoffice
Version: 1:7.0.4-3
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: san...@outrightsolutions.nl

Dear Maintainer,

When attempting to open a file containing spaces (in a path that does not
contain any spaces), libreoffice doesn't open but instead shows a error popup
for each of the filename parts separated by spaces, e.g.

/home/user/documents/file containing spaces.ods

.. will show three popups:
/file does not exist.
/containing does not exist.
paces.ods does not exist.

I also tried adding quotes to the .desktop file (to no avail)
I also tried passing files with spaces to other applications, which worked
correctly

It just works. No pops and clicks, low-latency, bidirectional. I've been
running
with JACK for ~4 months now (from 5.1, now 5.2) without any hitches or latency
or
any instability. It's rock-solid.

Before that I used scream in various modes, but that required a special driver
in
the guest and some entries in qemu hooks, and still had its occasional glitches.

I see. I'm not deep enough in Debian process to know if such a change is
appropriate
during a soft-freeze period, so I happily leave that to you :)

Let me just say that after a months long journey to get reasonable quality
low-latency
sound, the move to JACK was definately a 'ok that problem's gone' moment.

Yes, it's just the bare enablement patch. I first wanted your feedback. I have
another small patch to build JACK support as a plugin/shared object so there's
no
runtime depends on jack client lib, but I need to test still if that properly
ships
the .so in the deb package.

Dear Maintainer,

Please enable JACK support for QEMU.
This feature is present in QEMU since 5.1 and pretty much the only good option
for low-latency audio

Package: golang-1.15-go

Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: san...@outrightsolutions.nl

Dear Maintainer,

Since upgrading from 1.15.2-1 to 1.15.5-2 today on Debian Testing I'm seeing a
steady increase of used file descriptors when running lnd
(github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd).

I tested first without, then with a recompile of lnd against 1.15.5-2, but the
problem is present in both cases.

Downgrading to 1.15.2-1 resolves the issue.

Downgrading to kernel 4.5.4 doesn't solve the issue, so it's probably not a
kernel bug.

The only other upgrades in that timespan were e2fsprogs and e2fslibs, which
I've also
downgraded. That also didn't fix the problem, although I'm not sure if I
correctly
regenerated the initrd, since I'm not fluent with dracut..

I'll investigate further. This bug can be closed.

2016-06-15 Thread Sander van Grieken

Upgrading linux kernel from 4.5.4 to 4.5.5 broke my boot.

I have a LUKS rootfs on top of a mdadm managed raid0. Starting from 4.5.5 it
doesn't recognize the luks volume at boot. The same happens with 4.6.1

The raid0 is not explicitly made with mdadm, it was previously handled by
dmraid I believe (fakeraid?)

After resuming from sleep, the arecord child process fully consumes one
processor core.

Stopping randomsound through the init system leaves the arecord running, and
orphaned.

Bug#788466: more context

2015-06-11 Thread Sander van Grieken
There seems to have been a fallback scenario from eSCO to SCO in bluez, due to
an adapter quirk. Apparently this is no longer so.

Bug#788466: bluez attempts eSCO connection, even when device only advertises SCO

2015-06-11 Thread Sander van Grieken
Package: bluez
Version: 5.23-2+b1
Severity: important

I have an old Jabra BT150 headset that I have since recently been able to use
again because Bluez5 has added support for HSP.

Now, I can make it work using an old dongle, but with a (newer) onboard adapter
the audio connection fails.

old dongle:
HCI Version: 1.1 (0x1) Revision: 0x20d
LMP Version: 1.1 (0x1) Subversion: 0x20d

onboard adapter:
HCI Version: 3.0 (0x5) Revision: 0x1b07
LMP Version: 3.0 (0x5) Subversion: 0xfc00

The old dongle doesn't support eSCO, the onboard adapter does:

old dongle:
$ hciconfig hci0 features
hci0: Type: BR/EDR Bus: USB
BD Address: 00:02:72:B2:A5:15 ACL MTU: 192:8 SCO MTU: 64:8
Features: 0xff 0xff 0x0f 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00

onboard adapter:
$ hciconfig hic0 features
hci0: Type: BR/EDR Bus: USB
BD Address: 88:53:2E:41:AD:F6 ACL MTU: 310:10 SCO MTU: 64:8

<3-slot EDR eSCO>

Features page 1: 0x01 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00

The headset does NOT advertise eSCO, only SCO:

BD Address: 00:13:17:D4:B6:3D
OUI Company: GN Netcom as (00-13-17)
Device Name: Jabra BT150
LMP Version: 1.2 (0x2) LMP Subversion: 0x611
Manufacturer: Cambridge Silicon Radio (10)
Features: 0xfc 0xfe 0x0b 0x00 0x08 0x08 0x00 0x00

But regardless, using the onboard adapter bluez will still attempt to set up an
eSCO connection:

< HCI Command: Setup Synchronous Connection (0x01|0x0028) plen 17
handle 40 voice setting 0x0060 ptype 0x0380
> HCI Event: Number of Completed Packets (0x13) plen 5

> HCI Event: Command Status (0x0f) plen 4
Setup Synchronous Connection (0x01|0x0028) status 0x1a ncmd 1
Error: Unsupported Remote Feature / Unsupported LMP Feature

With old dongle:
< HCI Command: Add SCO Connection (0x01|0x0007) plen 4
handle 41 ptype 0x00e0
Packet type: HV1 HV2 HV3

It looks like the capabilities of the headset are not taken into account.

Bug#775264: mesa: Please apply patch from freedesktop bug #85647

2015-01-13 Thread Sander van Grieken
Source: mesa
Version: 10.3.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

I have had problems with my TAHITI radeon videocard for the last year or so,
where it would lock up randomly between 10 minutes to a few hours from booting.
So much so that I have needed to switch to fglrx to get my system reliable.

This problem apparently only manifests on certain chipsets, like the TAHITI
variant I have and not all radeonsi cards out there.

I have compiled the current mesa 10.3.2-1 which is the latest available in
jessie and sid, with a patch posted in freedesktop bug #85647, and my system is
stable in the 3 weeks I'm running this custom version.

This patch is already included in mesa 10.3.4, but since a new release has not
been forthcoming in the last weeks and the current version must hurt others out
there. I'm filing this bug report to nudge the maintainer to either include
this patch in 10.3.2, or upgrade to 10.3.4.

Bug#756494: print-manager: Authentication Dialog cannot receive focus

2014-07-30 Thread Sander van Grieken
Package: print-manager
Version: 4:4.13.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When configuring an existing printer through the printer KCM module (as normal
user), authentication is not possible when clicking Configure, makig changes
there, and pressing Apply. The authentication dialog pops up, but cannot
receive focus.

When the authentication dialog pops up as a result of checking the 'Default
Printer' or 'Reject Print Jobs' checkbox, the authentication dialog is able to
receive focus, and these settings seems to apply after auth.

So it is likely due to two modal dialogs competing for focus

Bug#755264: kde-workspace: Device Notifier problems mounting LUKS partitions

2014-07-19 Thread Sander van Grieken
Package: kde-workspace
Version: 4:4.11.9-1
Severity: normal

There's two problems regarding LUKS support within the KDE Device Notifier
plasmoid

First, if cryptsetup is not installed, the mounting of an encrypted LUKS volume
fails without stating cryptsetup is missing.
Second, if cryptsetup is installed, the mounting of the LUKS volume succeeds,
but Device Notifier says it could not mount the volume. However, the icon next
to the volume indicates it's mounted.
