So I don't have a screenshot now, but you can see an example by typing something in GMIP, copy that and paste it, and move it up a little. The apps I tried it with were warzone2100, oolite. In oolite they were even scrambled. I tried in libreoffice and it seemed OK there. Nothing in either the server or the client logs about what did it, obviously it would be on the client, but that's no help, as there's no trace of it in the log. I'll stick some ps auxw command in my .zlogin so i can see what processes get run at the time, maybe on a for loop. obviously to get a process table dump after the fact is pointless. OK, well, I've done that now, and I'm not seeing anything that could cause it. pam-mount works fine... what's more relevant is this IMO: That's me mounting /A to /D, then something else unmounting: = Oct 27 02:10:10 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:861 for /A (/A) Oct 27 02:10:11 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:868 for /B (/B) Oct 27 02:10:11 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:787 for /C (/C) Oct 27 02:10:11 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:1002 for /D (/D) Oct 27 02:10:17 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:644 for /D (/D) Oct 27 02:10:19 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:706 for /C (/C) Oct 27 02:10:31 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:779 for /B (/B) Oct 27 02:10:32 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:797 for /A (/A) = that's from the server... so it gets a request to unmount them as soon as they get mounted. Right now I'm running gnome. Normally I'm running xfce or openbox. Gonna try in one of my other session types, see if it's some stupid gui thing causing it or not (I'm think it is). I'll send an update your way (and the BTS) when I have more info. Waaah! Now it did it again. pam-mount sees it unmounted, so mounts them, then whatever sees them mounted, unmounts them. Bug#548933: xserver-xorg: SEGV in radeon module on start
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.4+4 Severity: normal kwe, This should probably go to the relevant module package, my apologies if I've done something wrong unintentionally. Then the dialog-based window came up from gdm "would you like to see the error" so I check it out, and seems the radeon driver was crashing out on me.. This icon is a) stereotyping so-called "North American" Indigenous peoples, and I would highly recommend and demand that this icon be changed. I don't see why a stereotype of us should be used to represent community. I'm sure non-Indigenous people have communities too, and have a sense of community, why should we be made an example in such a negative way? Sure we have a lot to offer the rest of the non-Indigenous world, and have, a LOT, but hey, don't keep up the false images. Bug#516395: reprepro: removes Release.new when needed by gpgme with SignWith: set
hi, BTW, seems that reprepro chokes on a GPG key if it has more than one key in it. I have a gmail.com and a .org one in the key used to sign the packages, and I substituted the fingerprint ID for the email address I was using in the distributions file, and not only does reprepro NOT choke, but apt and friends (aptitude) don't either. So, I figure you should probably make a note in the manual page about this, so others don't get bit by the same issue. I'd call it an usage issue, more than a bug. thanks simon signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Tthe debian kernel does not boot at all, even after reconstructing the initrd a few times, so no, I won't, since there's no point. How about addressing the issue instead of blaming me? Don't take this the wrong way, but when the only application that's crashing in such a way takes down my machine when restarts, and I get blamed for it, that rather ticks me off, especially when I didn't build it myself. Bug#511103: apache2-mpm-prefork: SEGV NOT fixed in 2.2.11-2 either
Package: apache2-mpm-prefork Version: 2.2.11-2 Followup-For: Bug #511103 Not only is it NOT fixed, but it's so bad that it takes the machine down with it, *requiring* a reboot. I've had to do this 4 times today alone. Almost every single time I go to restart apache, it crashes this way. BTW, the load average on the machine also skyrockets, even though almost nothing is running. I tried running iotop, but my kerneldoesn't support it seems (that's what it told me, more or less). I just updated to Lenny from an Etch install, to beat the rush so to speak, and now I'm re-considering that, and downgrading everything to Etch. I even recompiled my kernel to see if that would help anything, and of course it didn't. If I'm coming across as pissed off, I am, but I seriously do not want to come at you the wrong way. It's just extremely frustrating. Yesterday on #debian on freenode, it was suggested to me to lower my worker count to as low as I could get it. I haven't done that, though I doubt it'll help much. I'll try it, but I'm not holding my breath. 5.66 5.82 4.73 pretty much the only active process at the moment: /usr/sbin/logrotate /etc/logrotate.conf I'd call it odd, wouldn't you? ;) thanks simon crash output follows: Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request for data at address 0x Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: Faulting instruction address: 0xc00bbd28 Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: Oops: Kernel access of bad area, sig: 11 [#1] Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: PowerMac Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: NIP: c00bbd28 LR: c006c2a4 CTR: c000 Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: REGS: d23a5bc0 TRAP: 0300 Not tainted (2.6.28.4-pylon) Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: MSR: 9032 CR: 44002448 XER: Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: DAR: , DSISR: 4000 Feb 11 06:52:45 pylon kernel: TASK = c0def240[22427] 'apache2' THREAD: d23a4000 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: GPR00: 00010039 d23a5c70 c0def240 d2492820 d0063d80 00025604 001a Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: GPR08: 0010 0002 2400 10079d74 00025604 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: GPR16: c0434f28 d23a5cb0 0604 d2492820 d0063d80 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: GPR24: d0063ce0 00025604 000e 000e c0680aa0 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: NIP [c00bbd28] nobh_write_end+0x178/0x1e0 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: LR [c006c2a4] generic_file_buffered_write+0x178/0x308 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: Call Trace: Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: [d23a5ca0] [c006c2a4] generic_file_buffered_write+0x178/0x308 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: [d23a5d30] [c006c87c] __generic_file_aio_write_nolock+0x1cc/0x4a8 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: [d23a5db0] [c006d568] generic_file_aio_write+0x68/0xf8 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: [d23a5de0] [c00970e0] do_sync_readv_writev+0xbc/0x130 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: [d23a5e90] [c0097988] do_readv_writev+0xb8/0x1b0 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: [d23a5f10] [c0097b2c] sys_writev+0x4c/0xa4 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: [d23a5f40] [c0013b40] ret_from_syscall+0x0/0x38 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: --- Exception: c01 at 0xfe2e010 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: LR = 0xfe2dff8 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: Instruction dump: Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: 801e 6801 540007fe 0f00 3962 7d495378 480c 7c090378 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: 419a0034 801e 70080010 41820014 <7c004828> 7c005b78 7c00492d 40a2fff4 Feb 11 06:52:46 pylon kernel: ---[ end trace 7e67b675764967b0 ]--- -- Package-specific info: List of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/*.load: actions alias apreq auth_basic auth_digest auth_ldap authn_default authn_file authz_default authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cgi charset_lite dbd deflate* dir* encoding env expires ext_filter filter headers ident include info mime mime_magic negotiation php5 proxy* proxy_balancer proxy_connect proxy_http rewrite setenvif speling ssl status suexec (A * means that the .conf file for that module is not enabled in /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/) -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (200, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.28.4-pylon Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages apache2-mpm-prefork depends on: ii apache2.2-common 2.2.11-2 Apache HTTP Server common files ii libapr11.2.12-5 The Apache Portable Runtime Librar ii libaprutil11.2.12+dfsg-8 The Apache Portable Runtime Utilit ii libc6 2.7-18GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libpcre3 7.8-2 Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expressi apache2-mpm-prefork recommends no packages. apache2-mpm-prefork suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ.
Bug#478409: problem with SEGV still persists
2009/2/7 Niko Tyni : close 478409 thanks stupid PEBKAC. /lib/libdl* was symlinked BADLY, to an old version from 2005, making most stuff using dlopen() and futexes crash horribly. As such, I made a foreign lenny debootstrap to compare notes, so to speak, and thus found the culprit, and fixed the symlink. Suggestion: maybe check the files, including symlinks, to make sure they're OK, during upgrades like this. Probably too much to ask, since how does say aptitude know if you've switched versions? There's no real meta-data like that AFAIK. Anyway, just a thought. Package: adanaxisgpl Version: 1.2.5.dfsg.1-1 Severity: important hi, up until now, i've been enjoying this unique game.. thanks for packaging this. i'm on "Gravity Waves", and 2 things happen to make this impossible to finish the level. 1) if i don't go after certain of 2 reds, later on in the game, about 20 seconds game time, it'll disappear most ship, except for a select number of of blue ships, and the cpu gets hogged by the game, pinning it. this forces me to kill the game. of course my mouse stops working, but re-running the game makes it ok again (frees up the device again; little trick i learned :) 2) if i do, then the game SEGVs, taking the screen and mouse with it, when i hit it with a dark blue missile. i think that particular level has a bug, since i never saw this with the other ones. simon -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24.2-acahkos Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages adanaxisgpl depends on: ii adanaxisgpl-data 1.2.5.dfsg.1-1 Action game in four spatial dimens ii freeglut3 2.4.0-6OpenGL Utility Toolkit ii libc6 2.7-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libexpat1 1.95.8-4 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libgcc1 1:4.3.0-2 GCC support library ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 7.0.3~rc2-2A free implementation of the OpenG ii libglu1-mesa [libglu1]7.0.3~rc2-2The OpenGL utility library (GLU) ii libice6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-14 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libogg0 1.1.3-3Ogg Bitstream Library ii libpcre3 7.6-2 Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expressi ii libsdl-mixer1.2 1.2.8-3mixer library for Simple DirectMed ii libsdl1.2debian 1.2.13-2 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii libsm62:1.0.3-1+b1 X11 Session Management library ii libstdc++64.3.0-2The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libtiff4 3.8.2-7Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libvorbis0a 1.2.0.dfsg-3 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile31.2.0.dfsg-3 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libx11-6 2:1.1.3-1 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar adanaxisgpl recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#175994: coreutils: 'id' and 'id username' don't return same output, same user running it
Package: coreutils Version: 5.97-5.4 Followup-For: Bug #175994 hi, Just realised something about id: when i run 'id' and 'id myusername', as same user, i do not get the same output, the former lacks LDAP info. Package: pure-ftpd-ldap Version: 1.0.19-7 Severity: important hi, whenever i add a new ldap-based user, i have to use {CRYPT} since using {SSHA} or other stronger hashes make it so that the daemon cannot read the attribute, and therefore login fails, no matter what i do. i change the hash to {CRYPT} and login works. this is rather serious, and i consider it a security hole, but i've set it to 'important' since i'm using homebrew OpenLDAP for a while now (built from .debs) and maybe pure-ftpd needs some code tweaks. oh, curious as to when the new version will be in? thanks, sr/ -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (1000, 'unstable'), (998, 'experimental') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-pylon.1 Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages pure-ftpd-ldap depends on: ii libc6 2.3.5-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcap1 1:1.10-14 support for getting/setting POSIX. ii libldap-2.3 [libldap2]2.3.7-0.3 OpenLDAP libraries ii libldap2 2.2.20-0.1 OpenLDAP libraries ii libldap2.3-0 [libldap2] 2.3.13-0.5 OpenLDAP libraries ii libpam0g 0.79-3 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8a-5 SSL shared libraries hi pure-ftpd-common 1.0.19-7 Pure-FTPd FTP server (Common Files pure-ftpd-ldap recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#345455: conflicts with nvidia-glx (non-free) forces user to set xserver-xorg on hold, or uninstall it
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-1 Severity: normal it may not seem like a bug at first, but here's why i'm filing it. 6.9.0.dfsg.1-1 conflicts with nvidia-glx <= 1.0.7174-4. which will force me to do one of a few things. 1) remove xserver-xorg 2) remove nvidia-glx 3) install newer nvidia-glx, but is pointless because i do not have a new video card, which is why nvidia-glx is on hole in the first place 4) use nv, which is slow and doesn't do 3d accel, and AFAIK doesn't do 2d accel either 5) put xserver-xorg on hold, ganing nothing either right now, my best option - from my POV - is to keep xserver-xorg at its current version, keep nvidia-glx on hold too, and either wait on nvidia to actually support their crap, or suffer through with nv - in the long term, and i don't expect nvidia to do anything about their older h/w, them being a corporation and all i'd expect more results from the nv devs to come through eventually, than expect nvidia to do anything. the former is far more likely. i'd much rather use nv than nvidia, but nv doesn't have the accel AFAIK, like i said. some of us can't afford to "upgrade upgrade upgrade" like they want us to do, so we can buy more of their crap. hey, maybe we don't want to, either ;). anyway, i don't expect anyone to actually give a flying f**k about this. cheers, and thanks for some good s/w. sr/ -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/xfree86/X.roster: xserver-xorg /etc/X11/X target unchanged from checksum in /var/lib/xfree86/X.md5sum. If you can identify which modules are > problematic for you and let us know, that would be useful. sure, go ahead, make my day ;p. but seriously, doesn't openssl 0.9.8x have versioned symbols now? not sure exactly what that means, except my suspicion that the symbols present in the library(ies) have versions, hence an indicator on how to treat it, for instance, building things against it (AIUI). i suspect it'd be pam_ldap and pam_heimdal, if anything. i found that on openldap 2.2.26, built against openssl 0.9.7x, the kerby stuff fails to work properly when i do a 'ldapwhoami', but with say oldap 2.3.7+patches (fixes for mem leaks, rootdn grokking for cn=config/back-config, and other ones), it works fine. i know part of what i'm doing is unsupported, but i suppose doing this also helps to find bugs in things. Bug#325420: mol-modules-source: CC environment variable not read
Package: mol-modules-source Version: 0.9.70-18 Severity: normal not only doesn't it get read, even modifying the Makefile.defs to have 'gcc-3.3' instead of 'gcc' doesn't seem to matter, and the build goes on to use the debian-set gcc default (here being 4.0). it should read this variable, as the other 2 modules i built with make-kpkg (fuse and shfs) both read it and set it correctly and the 'vermagic=' gets set properly, too. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (1000, 'unstable'), (998, 'experimental') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-pylon Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages mol-modules-source depends on: ii gcc 4:4.0.1-3 The GNU C compiler ii libc6-dev 2.3.5-4GNU C Library: Development Librari ii make 3.80-11The GNU version of the "make" util Versions of packages mol-modules-source recommends: ii debhelper 4.9.8 helper programs for debian/rules ii kernel-package9.006 A utility for building Linux kerne ii m41.4.3-2a macro processing language -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#323182: debian-installer: boot.img for sarge doesn't, on PPC
Package: debian-installer Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable boot.img for sarge on powerpc doesn't boot, no matter what i do, what date i get it from (there's a 20041118/ dir on the site, tried those, doesn't want to boot either). i've tried both 2.4 and 2.6 floppies, any machine i stick it in spits it back out without any warning and pops up a floppy picture with a big X in it. i've tried it with several downloads and several floppies, all known good, and they just don't boot, no matter what i do. the bootx option is not possible at this point in time as i have no bin to store the drive with mock os on it anywhere, and i shouldn't have to do this on a known otherwise working machine with sarge on it, with a dead battery, and the other a sid install, been running since late 2002 (potato->woody). i'm trying to rescue these 2 ppc oldworld macs, and without a working boot.img, i cannot rescue them at all. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (1000, 'unstable'), (998, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-p3 Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#323032: libc6: GLIBC_PRIVATE errors
Package: libc6 Version: 2.3.2.ds1-22 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable fakeroot debian/rules binary /usr/bin/make: relocation error: /lib/libdl.so.2: symbol _dl_catch_error, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file ld.so.1 with link time reference zsh: 8307 exit 127 fakeroot debian/rules binary this is a follow-up to 321561 and 321712. if i allow the upgrade to happen, i can't even run make, or perl, or crond, or anything at all in fact. please fix this. when i run strings on the library (libc6 so file) i see the "GLIBC_PRIVATE" string. isn't this supposed to work, like the previous libc6 major change (like the woody->sarge one)? perl pukes in such a way that the locale gets all confused, and cannot load properly, and the locales package install fails, if libc6 2.3.5 is installed. i haven't been able to upgrade for days and days, and this worries me because there are security issues involved here. i would also like a clarification on what's going on, being in the dark isn't helping anything, either. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (1000, 'unstable'), (998, 'experimental') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-pylon Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages libc6 depends on: ii libdb1-compat 2.1.3-7The Berkeley database routines [gl libc6 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
