Bug#1064108: ktimetracker: On long idle, Plasma not respond any more

2024-02-17 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: ktimetracker
Version: 4:5.0.1-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

form ktimetracker page (https://userbase.kde.org/KTimeTracker):

When going for lunch, it may happen that you forget to stop timetracking
before. No problem: the idle time detector in KTimeTracker will pop up
after a configurable amount of time giving you the possibility to revert
(as if you said, "I was not working during this time.") or continue timing
(as if you said "I was working during this time.").

It's a good idea, but the pop up itself or the huge number of pop up opened
(last time, I saw a "(208)" in the titlebar) make Plasma inusable: mouse
and keyboard don't work, nothing to have back the control of Plasma.

If I forget to stop the timer, I can only switch to tty and restart sddm
(X11).

I don't know if it's related but syslog reports (for all day, more times
and grouped by tens) many lines like '2024-02-17T12:24:56.501410+01:00
G5045 ktimetracker[100669]: m_sessionStartTime= ""'.

Thanks

Stefano

Apologise me

During this morning, for every test logcheck sent me the email.

This times, also without the -l option, I saw the logs so I waited the cron
if something was changed.

The logs lines there are, but after the header I see many blank lines: I
use mutt in a full screen console (more than 50 lines) and I need to press
page down for 16 times before reach the first line of logs (in the last one
email).

So I suppose that in this days the logs there have been, but I never
thought to press page down :(

Now the question may be: why I have tens of blank lines? Is it mutt?

Down I leave anyway the answers I wrote before find the blank lines just to
completion your questions.

If you think, close the bug.

Sorry and thanks for your time.

The permissions are exactly like those.

Ok...

I've tried with a "clean" logcheck, than 'logger foo' and logcheck with -d.

The time are faster, but no redirect ( ... > file) nor less ( ... | less)
save the output of logcheck (that instead I see on console).

As wrote over I can't "save" the output, but ^S and ^Q give me an help...

I've tried! Many and many of lines, never ending, it seems a loop. I had to do
a ^C.

Bug#1058755: logcheck: Email not report log lines

2023-12-15 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.4.3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

from few days the email from cron are empty, there is only the header.txt.

If I run

/etc/logcheck <-bash> # su -s /bin/bash -c "/usr/sbin/logcheck -l
/var/log/syslog" logcheck

the email has the log lines. Without the -l option, still empty.

I've checked paths, permissions, user/group and seems all right.

Thanks

Stefano

Bug#1042077: sddm: 'us' keyboard on logout

2023-07-26 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: sddm
Version: 0.20.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

because of other problems (I don't know if plasma or widgets, I must
indagate) I need to do a logout after plasma has loaded.

After that, the sddm login screen loses my 'it' keyboard layout (the first
login is correct) and change to 'us'.

A similar situation here
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=808840#35 but the bug
seems open.

I don't know from when the problem start because I added the special chars
in my password few days ago and I was surprised to put wrong password after
every logout.

I've tried with "Breeze" and "Debian Breeze" which haven't a layout
selector.

~ $ cat /etc/default/keyboard
# KEYBOARD CONFIGURATION FILE

# Consult the keyboard(5) manual page.

XKBMODEL="pc105"
XKBLAYOUT="it"
XKBVARIANT=""
XKBOPTIONS=""

BACKSPACE="guess"

~ $ localectl
System Locale: LANG=it_IT.UTF-8
VC Keymap: (unset)
   X11 Layout: it
X11 Model: pc105

No /etc/X11/xorg.conf nor "keyboard/layout" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d .

'sddm-greeter --test-mode' shows me the "Maui" login screen and only 'it' as
layout.

Thanks.

Stefano

Hi,

today I've installed the telegram-desktop_4.5.3+ds-1+b1_amd64.deb, the last

When I've updated with telegram-desktop_4.6.0+ds-1_amd64.deb, the first

So the bug for me is in 4.6 releases.

Thanks

Bug#1032927: telegram-desktop: QT images management

2023-03-14 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: telegram-desktop
Version: 4.6.5+ds-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

in my syslog I found a very lot of lines like these:

- when start
  2023-03-14T08:51:13.782218+01:00 G5045 telegram-desktop[43979]: qt.svg: Error
while inflating gzip file: SVG format check failed

- every time I focus it
  2023-03-14T08:51:31.392459+01:00 G5045 telegram-desktop[43979]:
QBuffer::seek: Invalid pos: 669743

Both messages are repeated for tens times in few seconds (the QBuffer with a
random number positive or negative).

Maybe the errors are related only with QT
(https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-45865), but in my system only Telegram
reports them.

Thanks

Stefano

Bug#1028539: kdevelop: Require a graphical su to install as root

2023-01-12 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: kdevelop
Version: 4:22.12.0-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when I try to install a project from source, I have in the Build console

/home/stefano/projects/kdev-executebrowser.git/build> kdesudo -- make -j4
install
*** Failure: make has failed to start ***

because kdesudo is missing.

Searching where have set kdesudo, I found in project configuration (right mouse
-> Open configuration ...), under "Make" tab, a check "Install as root" who
active a selection whit 3 options:
- kdesu
- kdesudo
- gksu

but all of these are missing.

Is possible to write other, like su, but no prompt is showed for root password.

Leaving blank use kdesu by default.

May the solution be polkit-kde-agent-1?

However the 3 *su* options are obsolete and useless.

For now I must copy the command line and run it into a root konsole.

Thanks.

Stefano

Bug#1007020: libvirt-daemon: DHCP from host fails

2022-03-10 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: libvirt-daemon
Version: 8.0.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

every qemu/kvm clients with a interface configured as DHCP fail to obtain
the address from host (virbr0).

Reading https://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Libvirtd_and_dnsmasq, libvirtd
requires dnsmasq so I've installed it.

After that the client's network obtains the IP from the DHCP.

If I check where dnsmasq is required, misses libvirt.

Bug#1004350: php-common: Conflict with php7.4

2022-01-25 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: php-common
Version: 2:92
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

while in Sid php7.4 is still maintained

~ $ apt search php7.4-fpm
Ordinamento... Fatto
Ricerca sul testo... Fatto
php7.4-cgi/unstable,now 7.4.26-1 amd64 [installato]
linguaggio di scripting incorporato nell'HTML, lato server (binario CGI)

php7.4-fpm/unstable,now 7.4.26-1 amd64 [installato]
linguaggio di scripting incorporato nell'HTML, lato server (binario FPM-CGI)

it's impossible to install because php-common 2:92 requires only php8.1 and
conflicts with php7.4

The only way (suggested by aptitude) to have both php 8.1 and 7.4 is
downgrade it to 2:76 from Stable.

Why php7.4? Simply, some web applications like Wordpress aren't ready for
php8.1.

Please, is it possible to unlock php7.4 in php-common from Sid?

Thanks

Stefano

Version 97.0.4692.71 (Official Build) built on Debian bookworm/sid, running on
Debian bookworm/sid (64-bit)

I can open https://music.amazon.it/.

I can search or manage my profile.

I can play a song but after few seconds a warn ask me to update Chrome (the
song play on background) and nothing else I can do.

I've also downloaded

chromium_99.0.4818.0-0.1_amd64.deb
chromium-common_99.0.4818.0-0.1_amd64.deb

and installed with dpkg.

But again:
- Amazon asks for update (before and after clean cookies)
- chrome://extensions/ chrome://history/ chrome://downloads/
  chrome://bookmarks/ are broken
- all chrome://settings are broken

Dear Maintainer,

yesterday I switch to win10 (dual boot) and bluetooth works so isn't a
hardware problem (good new!).

Back to Debian I done new tests.

Again the bluetoothd is up when I move the mouse and goes down if not, but

Bug#995399: bluez: bluetooth disable after few seconds

2021-09-30 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: bluez
Version: 5.61-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

from 2 days when I try to connect a bluetooth device paired (2 mouse) the
daemon hangs (system settings tell me it's disconnected, in kde tray the
icon disappear).

After few seconds the BT auto restart and connects the mouse. If I use the
mouse the BT works, but when I stop to move the mouse (for example)
for few seconds, just I move it again the BT repeat the loop.

Also the add wizard is unusable: the BT hangs repeatedly.

Thinkig some time out problems, I've tried:
1) put in black list the USB address in tlp;
2) stop tlp;
3) stop upower;
4) restart bluetooth.

Nothing solve.

If I don't use BT devices, the BT hangs again but rarely.

Bug#994888: chromium: chrome://extensions/ broken

2021-09-22 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: chromium
Version: 93.0.4577.82-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

after last upgrade I've noted some problems with few web pages (for example
Amazon Music asks me to upgrade the browser because it's obsolete, or
embedded Youtube video not loaded).

So after some tests I've also opened chrome://extensions/ but show me only
the header: no extensions appears, a blank pages!

Although I see the header, no Menu or Search or "Developer mode" check
works.

The extensions buttons in the url bar, some works and some no.

I've tried to clean cache (all time), reload pages, reinstall without solve.

With a downgrade, the chrome://extensions/ page works again.

Thanks

Stefano

It seems no :(

This morning both "restored" and "new" are without menues.

Other 2 konsole that I've opened yesterday have its menu.

Is there something wrong after the first restore?

Ok.

It's not a big problem, only restricted to konsole AFAIK.

News.

Today, after sturtup, the "new" konsole has preserved both menus, instead the
"restored" has again the error.

Maybe is it some configuration kept from time ago? I don't remenber how many
restore has that konsole.

Tell me if you need some information or close the bug.

Kwin and X11.

I've tried wayland time ago, but some problems like no interaction between
applications (I don't remember the details), force me to back to X11.

This is Plasma Breeze Dark and Breeze for applcation style and window
decoration, where I did some little adjustament, nothing else. From
unstable/sid.

> My rather default setup does not move menues to the panel.

Uh... I hope my memory help me... ;)

I know two way: or you add the panel "application menu bar" or in the
default panel add the widget "global menu".

However you must running "application menu daemon" in Background Services
(needed also for the menu in the title bar).

It not seem me there needs more

Thanks

Bug#990029: konsole: Application and global menu

2021-06-18 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: konsole
Version: 4:20.12.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when restore the konsole at startup from previous session, disappear the
application menu either in title bar (the burger icon) or in the panel bar
(simply empty).

If I open a new Konsole, both are showing.

Other restored together applications, like System Settings or Pidgin, have
their menus on title bar and in the panel bar, so it seems a konsole
problem.

Thanks.

Bug#790610: libnss3: "SSL handshake failed" in Pidgin: nss: Handshake failed (-12173)

2020-10-22 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: libnss3
Version: 2:3.58-1
Followup-For: Bug #790610

Dear Maintainer,

with the latest update I have the same error on xmpp both with
talk.google.com and with my server with ejabber.

Downgrade to 2:3.56-1 solves the problem.

I don't think google uses badly configured SSL/TLS.

Thanks.

Stefano

Hi,

more news.

This morning the bluetooth (ever with kernel 4.17.15-1) is missing again.

So I had remembered that when I run an update that calls initramfs, the
bluetooth at the new boot doesn't work, so first I have to do a reboot to
run

update-initramfs -uk all && update-grub2 && grub-install

then reboot again and the bluetooth works.

So I have done the above procedure and the bluetooth has worked again.

But I had a dubt: may the problem with the last kernel be the same?

Again:
- updated the kernel to 4.17.17-1;
- rebooted;
- update-initramfs -uk all && update-grub2 && grub-install;
- rebooted;
- bluetooth works with kernel 4.17.17-1 too.

I had reported a similar bugs (Bug#814508: initramfs-tools: bluetooth/hci
fails) time ago and I think are related, the real problem is initramfs.

Thanks

Bug#906733: linux-image-4.17.0-3-amd64: Lenovo QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter - Bluetooth fails

2018-08-20 Thread Stefano Callegari
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.17.15-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm one of the "lucky" owner of a Lenovo G50 who have the bluetooth

Bus 002 Device 005: ID 0cf3:3004 Atheros Communications, Inc. AR3012
Bluetooth 4.0

As reported here https://askubuntu.com/questions/1032417/ubuntu-18-04-lts-
bluetooth-0cf33004-discovery-not-working, "The problem is that Atheros has
released a new ROME device using the same VID/PID as an older AR3012 device.
The codes are [0cf3:3004].", so the last kernel with the bluetooth that is
working fine for me is the linux-image-4.15.0-2-amd64 (4.15.11-1).

In no 4.17 series the bluetooth works (it loads the firmware of the ROME
device) until yesterday morning with the linux-image-4.17.0-3-amd64 (4.17.15-1)
when the bluetooth has worked again.

But yesterday afternoon a new updtate (4.17.17-1) has killed again the
bluetooth.

When I came back to 4.17.15-1, the bluetooth still work again.

Which is the kernel "wrong", the 4.17.15-1 or the 4.17.17-1?

Thanks

You are lucky :)

The only difference between the 2 profiles is the dimension of the window:
maybe it's one year that if I try to switch, nothing does...

Hi...

Today, I have upgraded to the last kernel but the bluetooth doesn't work
again.

Maybe I have found the problem. From the syslog:

Mar 19 13:21:08 G5045 kernel: [1.926615] usbcore: registered new

It seems that there's an incompatibility with the kernel 4.4 series.

I have tried also to reinstall the firmware-atheros package.

There is an old bug

Hi,

attached you find the debug.

But

I have done as follow:

1) added 'debug' into grub;

2) reboot with 0.122 - bluetooth ko, system setting told me 'no bluetooth
device found', but rfkill has showed me hci0;

3) update to 0.123 and reboot - bluetooth works!

Yesterday I have rebooted more times, before to search the problem and
after for reportbug, but only when I had the 0.122 the bluetooth has
worked.

So I think I have more problems...

Thanks

 Ok, I'll try with debug=1.

 See you tomorrow

Sorry, I see the debug during the boot but I can't retrieve it to show you.

It's too quick for to use ctrl+s to try to have a complete list of the
debug and how copy and paste to you?

No log saves these lines.

Any clue?

Thanks. I'll wait for your results. The other suspicion I have with this
card family, is that they are more flaky when compared to Intel card.
Previously, the other laptop had an Intel card, that used the e1000e driver.
With that card, the issues were none to the best of my knowledge.

Let's see what you results are. Accordingly we'll act further.

No...

Ok, I'll try with debug=1.

The idea is to completely disable the battery when on battery. It is a use
 case.
Can you check what the settings are for the following in
 /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/ethernet.conf ?

 DISABLE_ETHERNET_ON_BATTERY=1

Yes, it's set so.

If it is set to 1, you need to set it to 0, and then re-test your scenario.

I think to remember to have tested it with 0 but not has seemed the
solution. I'll try again but I'll say you if it's ok tomorrow morning.

Thanks.

I think this is a dupe of #739601, which was fixed in cyrus-sasl2

 Your report said:

Is this fixed with the newer libsasl2-2?

You are right, the log doesn't show these line anymore, so I think it has

That's odd, since of course there are rules included in the package.
Have you made any modifications to the system-wide config files? Notably

I think yes: reportbug has asked me if copy these changes.

 Hi,

 stefano ste...@infinito.it (08/06/2011):
  Package: xterm
  Version: 270-1
  Severity: normal

Follow bug #625877 marked as done for kde4 konsole.

Today I have installed from experimental the last nvidia drivers, but when
maximize xterm I see some artifacts and I can't minimize again or close.

The system don't crash anymore like before with unstable nvidia drivers
  (270.41.19-1).

I'm not aware of artifacts with non-nvidia, so reassigning to nvidia
folks. You may want to be a bit more specific about your configuration,
e.g. which WM you're using, with which settings, etc.

h I thought that the problem was related to the nvidia bug above,
because konsole and xterm give me the same problem (kde4 hangs).

So when konsole is ok and xterm no, I thought that miss something for
xterm on new relase of nvidia driver.

But today I have tried with more settings (theme, border) and I have the
same results:

- - only with kde4 air-oxygen theme there are some artefacts;

- - with all I can maximize xterm but I can't return to normal dimensions
  (80x25).

I have tested the last above with 2 pc with kde4 and Sid: my with nvidia
and one with intel GPU.

So I think isn't a nvidia bugs.

After maximized xterm, the relate button icon don't change to maximize.
It seems that the window is only stretched to max dimensions instead
maximized.

Before I haven't noted that because I don't use these buttons in my kde4
configuration, but in front the pc with intel GPU I have the surprise ;)

Do you need more info?

Thanks

Hi

I have tried last (yesterday) update on Sid.

Something better :)

Before, the system hangs after first maximize.

Today, I do 2 or 3 loop maximize, normal and after the monitor has filled
by artifacts like a fog of dots, but the system is still fully functional.

So I can:

- - logout (still fog);
- - restart X inside kdm (still fog);
- - restart the pc

Anyway, I don't think this can be fixed on the Debian side. Please check
the NVIDIA forum whether a similar bug was reported there already. Then
provide additional information there or create a new thread if you
couldn't find anything. Post an link to the forum here.

I have found this one before found here.

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=161308

It seems not only a Debian bug and/or Kde.

I don't understand why this problem is only for konsole/xterm. No other
window seems to hang when maximise it.

Anyway it's not only a nvidia bug if the last update of kde and xorg has
improved the situation.

My 50 cents :)

I have the same setup as you. My iceweasel works nicely with the Java
plugin. You can enable the Java console and some debugging with
jcontrol. And you might want to contact the iceweasel maintainer to
find debugging options on the browser side.

Thanks for feedback.

I have enabled the java console on jcontrol and tracing and logs too, but
iceweasel crash first I see some output.

p.s. TypeError: imns.Cc['@iopus.com/tcpsi;1'] is undefined is from an
add-on with java enaled or disabled.

Nor console or log files I found.

Again, I have reinstalled the package after purge but crash again.

I have seen the java console one time while I have seen the java cache
popup too.

Maybe I need to ask to iceweasel maintainer how have more debug: could you
tell me the right way?

Bug#444741: openoffice.org-gtk: Crashed on start when using gtk 2.12

2007-10-04 Thread Stefano Callegari
Hi,

yesterday I've seen to have a problem like this (I've Sid) so I've tried to
remove the openoffice.org-gtk package and openoffice has worked again.

So I've reinstalled libgtk and openoffice.org-gtk after, but I've had the
error again.

Then I've tried strace and the follow lines

have given me an idea: after it load the theme openoffice freeze!

With gnome system / preference / aspect menu (I hope it's the right path,
my locale is italian) I've changed the theme from Kleanux to Glossy and
openoffice finally works!

I don't know why this theme is incompatible (seemingly only) with
openoffice but when I back to Kleanux it freeze again.
