Bug#299088: Concurrent sounds on system with Xscavenger

2023-05-25 Thread Stephane Ascoet

Hi, after more games played, it seems that the behaviour is inconsistent.
Anyway, I'm stuck at level twelve. I've briefly become addicted to levels
creation while editing it to make it playable.

Bug#299088: Concurrent sounds on system with Xscavenger

2023-04-08 Thread Stephane Ascoet

Hi, it's seems that, more generaly, when a sound is already playing on the
system, Xscavenger stays quiet(e.g. when the following is running in the
background: mplayer -afm ffmpeg -ao alsa -cache 599 -cache-min 99 -framedrop
-lavdopts fast:skiploopfilter=all -msgcolor -msglevel all=6 -noconfig user

Bug#1005127: Dependency to Python 3.6 missing

2022-02-07 Thread Stephane Ascoet

Package: yt-dlp
Version: 2022.02.04-1~bpo11+1

At first, thank you for the packaging work of yt-dlp. Now, the tiny problem:

I've downloaded the package and made a "dpkg -i" of it on a Devuan
Ascii. Yeah, I know that it's not regular, but please wait, read and
see, it had the advantage to reveal the missing dependency:

From the "dpkg" part, the installation was almost successful, but, when
finishing the deployment, the execution of the installation process
inside yt-dlp failed because the Python code wasn't recognized by Python
3.5(biggest Python version on the system).

So I think that the dependency to Python 3.6 should be set at the Deb
packet level, so we won't be able to install it at all since the
beginning if Python is too old on the system.

Bug#996687: www.debian.org: Inconsistence between keymaps related packages on packages.debian and in apt searches

Hi, and thanks for your answer. I noticed it but for me, the fact that
these packages are related to the installer doesn't mean that we
couldn't install them later. And there's another problem: the virtual
package "console-keymaps" I got in cli wasn't in this on-the-Web list!

Bug#996687: www.debian.org: Inconsistence between keymaps related packages on packages.debian and in apt searches

2021-10-17 Thread Stephane Ascoet
Package: www.debian.org
Severity: minor

To install french keyboard support in Debian-live(having to do this is a first
problem, the boot menu choice having only partial effect), I searched out how
with "man loadkeys". I understood that keymaps where missing so I've searched
"keymaps" on the packages
Website(https://packages.debian.org/search?suite=default=all=any=names=keymaps).
I get a list with 8 console-keymaps-* packages. But non of them can be
installed via apt! I finally found the right virtual package with "aptitude
search" but this inconstancy is abnormal, the online package search should be
the mirror of the cli one

Bug#623131: Message about Adobe Acrobat

2020-01-28 Thread Stephane Ascoet

Hi, this message is inside the PDF. What's missing in Xpdf is the ability to
read PDF document with writeable fields. It blocks me for administrative forms
too. And since the maintened Xpdf version is now the "4" branch, needing QT
library(ies), I wonder what will happen in the future.

Bug#918888: openbox-gnome-session script says "-lt, unexpected operator in line 23" if $MAJOR is empty

2019-01-10 Thread Stephane Ascoet

Package: openbox-gnome-session
Version: 3.6.1-4

The exact error when launching /usr/bin/openbox-gnome-session script is:
/usr/bin/openbox-gnome-session: 23: test: -lt: unexpected operator
/usr/bin/openbox-gnome-session: 23: test: =: unexpected operator
/usr/bin/openbox-gnome-session: 27: test: -lt: unexpected operator

These errors are Bash errors(due to the way Bash works with variables)
that don't say where the real problem is. The real problems are:

1-gnome-session --version didn't answer anything so $VER hasn't been filled
2-$MAJOR and $MINOR are filled from a treatment upon $VER, so they stay
empty too because of "1-" above.

Variables should always be protected in scripts to avoid this!!! This
script doesn't respect the good practices. Additionally, a friendly
error message would help the user to find where is the problem.

If you're interested, I can send you a patched script doing this.

Bug#514464: Unexplained drawback in my workaround configuration

2014-08-07 Thread Stephane Ascoet

Hi, on an azerty french mapped keyboard, the above configuration disable the
ability to write É, È, Ç and À with Caps+(é, è, ç or à on digits keys in the
superior area of the keyboard). About the Caps_On key definition, I can guess
that it is supposed to work like a Shift_Lock... But, what I really don't
understand is the fact that the Pause key, becoming a Caps_Lock(so, I was
guessing, like the original behaviour of the original caps lock key) suffers
frome the same issue! Additionnaly, it lights up the led, at the contrary of
the default caps lock key(and which is the original covered in this ticket)

Hi, on the contrary, i found a strange behaviour when using by mistake two :

scp sourcefile user@server:/destinationdirectory/:

scp seems to transfer the file perfectly So we can go to sleep thinking
it's done... Except that the file hasn't been recorded in the destination!

Bug#608641: debian-installer: Debian installer loses its mind when doing again the process after an error in novice mode

2011-01-04 Thread Stephane Ascoet

Christian PERRIER a écrit :

These questions don't disappear. They've been asked once already, so
the user's choice is already known by the installer.
It's actually the problem! If there is a problem, the user will likely need to set them again! It's incoherent to ask additional
questions for theses reasons, and not asking again the others ones...

This behaviour can lead to have a installed system without bootloader for
example!

Bug#608641: debian-installer: Debian installer loses its mind when doing again the process after an error in novice mode

2011-01-04 Thread Stephane Ascoet

Christian PERRIER a écrit :

Please give *detailed* examples where this happens. This might as well
be a logic error in some specific package configuration script and not
an overall bad behaviour of the installer.
When we are asked for Grub boot sector, I've put fd0 the first time. I got an error, tried another device for boot sector(I don't
remember which one), error again. Then I think I've tried Lilo, it failed again. Trying again Grub, it didn't ask any question anymore.

about tasksel is imho pointless (I don't really know what would change
if one has to choose the tasks again in the tasks selection)and

If there isn't enough disk space for example! Or a too much slow link for
packages downloading...

the mention of the bootloader step is too vague.

Sorry but I haven't got a test machine.

Bug#511287: Debian-Installer documentation

2011-01-02 Thread Stephane Ascoet

The new menu choice of the desktop to install is great! The sad thing is that
it isn't documented enough!
And I'm suprised that you are so concerned with newbies. I've hardly ever seen
a newbie installing Debian!
In my case, if I knew this option, I would have got far less problems!

Bug#394736: I'm atonished

2008-05-22 Thread Stephane Ascoet
Hi, I can't believe that a script in a stable Debian is so poorly made.
Variables aren't protected, not a single explanation about what the code
is doing... A half-answer to the bug is to set the NUMLOCK value in the
config file.
