Bug#1059939: linux-image-6.1.0-17-rt-amd64: dkms will not build zfs module for rt-amd64
Package: src:linux Version: 6.1.69-1 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: t.j.pink...@alumnus.utwente.nl Dear Maintainer, I tried to install linux-image-6.1.0-17-rt-amd64, building zfs modules with dkms failed. The output of aptitude while installing the packages is appended to this report. The important line seems to be: Error! The /var/lib/dkms/zfs/2.1.11/6.1.0-17-rt-amd64/x86_64/dkms.conf for module zfs includes a BUILD_EXCLUSIVE directive which does not match this kernel/arch/config Somehow the directory 6.1.0-17-rt-amd64 seems to be missing. --- $ ls /var/lib/dkms/zfs/2.1.11/ 6.1.0-16-amd64 6.1.0-17-amd64 source --- whether this is a flaw in the installer script or in the zfs package is unclear to me. The expected outcome is, logically, that the dkms modules would all compile as they do on the normal amd64 kernel image. Bug#1059329: cinnamon-desktop-environment: dependency on noto-font installs too many fonts, fontlist exploded.
Package: cinnamon-desktop-environment Version: 5.6.0 Severity: whishlist X-Debbugs-Cc: t.j.pink...@alumnus.utwente.nl Dear Maintainer, to have several desktop environments available on my computer, I installed the cinnamon desktop environment. This package has a hard dependency on the noto-font package. Latter package contains fonts for all unicode languages, and it is thus not a bad idea to have that installed per-see. But since there are for every language about 10 to 20 fonts installed, the fontlist on my computer "exploded". This is a hussle as font selection should not be cumbersome, but usefull. Scrolling along a list of hundreds of noto fonts to come to the next usefull font is clearly not. When I tried to deinstall the noto-font, the dependency on this package tried to deinstall also part of the cinnamon desktop. I could work around it though, by manually selecting all packages that were to be deinstalled. However must this be? For me the question is, is the dependency on the noto-font really necessary? Or is it a nice to have? Could the noto-font be a recommended package? That would allow easier deinstallation when wanted. Another solution could be to separate the noto-font out into a much finer selection of font packages, such that only those for installed languages are installed. I do understand that native speakers of, say, thai, may want the thai part of the noto-font, but we "westerners" do typically not need that part of this huge font base. I hope some thoughts on this will help to make Debian better. Bug#996594: ardour shows no GUI after asking for and confirming session (core dumped)
Package: ardour Version: 1:6.5.0+ds0-1 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: t.j.pink...@alumnus.utwente.nl Dear Maintainer, I recently upgraded to Debian bullseye. Ardour was working fine on the oldstable. Upon starting ardour it gets as far as showing the session selection dialogue, but then crashes. Up till now I have not found a solution for the problem. However, when I started ardour from the commandline I got the following debug information as last few lines of the output: ... no more csLADSPA plugins ardour-6.5.0~ds0: src/freeverb/revmodel.cpp:37: void revmodel::setrate(int): Assertion `rate <= TUNING_MAX_SAMPLE_RATE' failed. Aborted (core dumped) user@machine:~$ The sample rate for the selected session is 48 kHz for professional audio. I think this must be a bug in the software. Bug#839706: redmine: wrong version of rake installed -> RAILS_ENV not set with apache2-alias configuration
A bit off topic: redmine is now working here with the passenger configuration. The environment problem still exists with the fcgid module and redmine installed as per /usr/share/doc/redmine/examples/apache2-alias.conf Somehow, when adding: FcgidInitialEnv RAILS_ENV production to the Virtualhost (should solve the problem?) some of the errors disappear, an empty page shows up, but the environment error stays. Maybe something to look into at some point. Best regards, Tjeerd Pinkert
Bug#839706: redmine: wrong version of rake installed
Dear Maintainer, I tracked this issue to the file /var/lib/redmine/Gemfile.lock which appears to have the wrong versions (probably due to having had a local version of ruby around), however, when I (re)move it and it is recreated, it does get the system installed versions back, so that part seems to be solved. However, than the next error appears: config.eager_load is set to nil. Please update your config/environments/*.rb files accordingly: * development - set it to false * test - set it to false (unless you use a tool that preloads your test environment) * production - set it to true I'm now trying out how to solve it, but the bug can be closed... Best regards, Tjeerd Pinkert
Bug#673049: gnome-panel: Workspace switcher applet: single colour, no workspaces visible
Package: gnome-panel Version: 3.4.1-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, An upgrade to the current version of gnome-panel made the workspace switcher applet a single gray colour. The workspaces blend out in the panel background (which I have set to a light grey colour). I have tried a different background colour to see if this does give contrast, but the workspace switcher keeps it's own light grey colour. Making the panel partly opaque does not provide contrast either. When applications are open they appear as black squares on the grey bar though. The switcher applet itself is functioning, only the visible behaviour is not good. I would expect that some colour contrast between the workspace switchers representation of the workspaces and the colour of the panel is present. A still different colour should then represent the opened windows. It could be an idea to add configurable colours to the preferences dialog? Then the user is able to set colours himself when the system default does not give a good result Yours, Tjeerd Pinkert -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-686-pae (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages gnome-panel depends on: ii gconf-service 3.2.5-1 ii gnome-icon-theme-symbolic 3.4.0-2 ii gnome-menus3.2.0.1-2 ii gnome-panel-data 3.4.1-1 ii libatk1.0-02.4.0-2 ii libc6 2.13-32 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.12.2-1 ii libcairo2 1.12.2-1 ii libcamel-1.2-293.2.2-1 ii libdconf0 0.12.1-1 ii libebook-1.2-123.2.2-1 ii libecal-1.2-10 3.2.2-1 ii libedataserver-1.2-15 3.2.2-1 ii libedataserverui-3.0-1 3.2.2-1 ii libgconf-2-4 3.2.5-1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.26.1-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.32.2-1 ii libgnome-desktop-3-2 3.4.1-2 ii libgnome-menu-3-0 3.2.0.1-2 ii libgtk-3-0 3.4.1-2 ii libgweather-3-03.4.1-1 ii libical0 0.44-3 ii libice62:1.0.8-2 ii libnspr4-0d4.9-1 ii libnss3-1d 3.13.4-1 ii libpanel-applet-4-03.4.1-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.30.0-1 ii librsvg2-2 2.36.1-1 ii libsm6 2:1.2.1-2 ii libsoup2.4-1 2.38.1-2 ii libsqlite3-0 3.7.11-3 ii libtelepathy-glib0 0.18.1-2 ii libwnck-3-03.4.0-1 ii libx11-6 2:1.4.99.901-2 ii libxau61:1.0.7-1 ii libxml22.7.8.dfsg-9 ii libxrandr2 2:1.3.2-2 Versions of packages gnome-panel recommends: ii alacarte0.13.2-3 ii evolution-data-server 3.2.2-1 ii gnome-applets 3.4.1-1 ii gnome-control-center1:3.2.2-3+b1 ii gnome-icon-theme3.4.0-2 ii gnome-session 3.4.1-1 ii gnome-session-fallback 3.4.1-1 ii gvfs1.12.2-1 Versions of packages gnome-panel suggests: ii epiphany-browser 3.4.1-1 ii evolution 3.2.2-1 ii gnome-terminal [x-terminal-emulator] 3.4.1.1-1 ii gnome-user-guide 3.4.1-1 ii nautilus 3.4.1-1 ii xterm [x-terminal-emulator] 278-1 ii yelp 3.4.1-1 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#661649: sawfish: Gnome 3 fallback + sawfish fails to start
Package: sawfish Version: 1:1.5.3-2.1+b1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, After the upgrade to Gnome 3, I have tried to start sawfish as the default window manager in several ways, which almost all fail and give the Gnome fullscreen message something has gone wrong, please logout. I can however kill the default WM when logged into a Gnome session and then start sawfish, this works fine, it shows no errors on the command line. I tried the following things to make sawfish the default WM: 1. add the line: export WINDOW_MANAGER=sawfish to the .profile line, since the /usr/bin/gnome-wm script looks for this environment variable to start the preferred WM. Sawfish is started but the Gnome session stalls and the Gnome error screen appears. 2. I make files /usr/share/xsession/gnome-fallback-sawfish.desktop, /usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/gnome-fallback-sawfish.session and /usr/bin/gnome-session-fallback-sawfish, the latter one refering to the .session file (see /usr/bin/gnome-session-fallback) changing in the .session file the WM from gnome-wm to sawfish Sawfish is started but the Gnome session stalls and the Gnome error screen appears. 3. I changed the order of known WM's in the /usr/bin/gnome-wm script to sawfish first. Sawfish is started but the Gnome session stalls and the Gnome error screen appears. I would expect that any of the three things above would properly start a Gnome session with sawfish, however, this unfortunately seems in vain. Next to this bug, I would like to know if I do something entirely wrong and there might be another way to start sawfish as a default WM.
