Package: rsync Version: 3.1.3-1 The --preallocate flag is meant to allocate blocks in the filesystem without actually changing the filesize. In the most recent update, the --preallocate option stopped working; it now allocates but fails to keep_size. The expected behavior is for the filesize to start at zero and then grow during the transfer.
The preallocation+keep_size failure has a significant negative impact on our backup system. This can lead to data-corruption. Upstream already has a patch in git master: f3873b3d88b61167b106e7b9227a20147f8f6197 Please pull this patch asap for Buster.
