Hi. Yeah, there're plenty of other (and better) SVD implementations.
They won't be a drop-in replacement, however because numerical recipes
uses a ridiculous matrix storage scheme:

I.e. each row (or column) of a matrix is stored in a separate chunk of
(usually dynamically-allocated) memory. This is stupid, and no other
library would do it this way. So to use other implementations you might
need to write a shim to convert formats. If you find a better way,
please let me know.
I don't think it's that bad. In graywolf, the matrix computations
appear to be restricted to exactly one routine (adapt_wire_estimator),
which is about 200 lines of code that create some matrices, fill them,
call a few standard matrix routines (multiply, add, etc.), then call
svd_solve. It all appears to be self-contained, so as long as I can
do the same matrix functions with another library, it should be simple
to replace the Numerical Recipes code. In other words, matrices aren't
used anywhere else in graywolf. The matrices are created for the sole
purpose of running svd_solve, and then freed.

Hello Ruben, After a closer look, it seems like the version bundled with qrouter and magic is just an older version of tkcon.tcl (2.3). I don't see why it would not work completely fine also with the newest version of tkcon. I've tried qrouter with tkcon 2.7 and I don't see any problems (maybe Tim knows more?) Interesting. After years of nobody mentioning it, I get two requests to update tkcon.tcl within a few days. Just note several things: 1) tkcon.tcl was broken by Tcl version 2.6 and would not scroll through the history. This is probably fixed, but it's best to check. There's a patch for it floating around, if needed. 2) I used a slightly modified tkcon.tcl, in which at the top I changed wish to $(QROUTER_WISH:=wish) (or something like that). This is to make sure that qrouter runs the version of wish that it was compiled for. This could also be done in the launching shell script, to make sure wish is aliased to the correct executable. Tim If I look in the freedict dictionary packages (e.g. dict-freedict-eng-spa) which are already in Debian, so must conform to the DFSG, I don't see how the dictionaries were generated. Hello Roland, Looks like the gcc (4.7.2-5 in Debian) preprocessor just discards the \ line endings instead of interpreting as line continuations, resulting in broken resulting files, as reported below. Is this a known issue? Please see also http://bugs.debian.org/698760 and please tell how we can help debugging this. Yes, this is a known issue. I corrected it in one place, which is scmos/Makefile. If you look at that file, the lines of the type sed -e 's/\\//' scmos.tech.in scmos.tech.out Are meant to add an extra backslash for each backslash in the file, so that the preprocessor will remove only one of them, and keep the rest. This is clearly a bug in the preprocessor, and I was hoping it would be fixed quickly, but apparently not. The ideal solution would be to convert all the magic techfile input files to m4 format, but it was a time-consuming task and I have never done it. Barring that, the proper solution would be to have the configure script detect the preprocessor and handle the cases. But it may be okay to put the double-backslash in, as I think magic will properly handle input with a double backslash if the preprocessor does not convert it. After fixing the Makefile in the scmos directory, I was unaware that the Makefile in scmos/cif_template was also causing problems. I just noticed that this bug report was concerning magic-7.5. In
that case, you will probably need the file scmos/Makefile from the
magic-8.0 distribution (attached), because it has the other
corrections that are needed to avoid stripping backslashes in the
techfiles.
Please let me know what works, and I will correct the distribution
source code.

Bug#672462: debian-handbook: handbook states that kopete is in the openoffice.org package

Package: dclock Severity: wishlist I have made changes to dclock that need to be incorporated into the Debian distribution. I have copied the latest debian version (2.1.2-8) into my source, so it really just needs a few simple changes to the debian directory contents. Preferably it should be listed as version 2.1.3.
