Bug#944065: checkstyle: Wrapper script run fails due to unresolved picocli dependency

2019-11-03 Thread Timo Kalliomäki

Package: checkstyle
Version: 8.15-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

checkstyle can not be run with the wrapper script (/usr/bin/checkstyle).
The following happens:

$ checkstyle -c checkstyle.xml src/
[warning] /usr/bin/checkstyle: JVM flavor 'sunmin5' not understood
[warning] /usr/bin/checkstyle: Unable to locate commons-cli in
/usr/share/java

-Dswing.aatext=true

Error: Unable to initialize main class com.puppycrawl.tools.checkstyle.Main
Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:

Adding picocli to the find_jars command arguments in the wrapper script
makes the script work.

Bug#920153: kio-extras: MTP access mostly fails with Android device

2019-01-22 Thread Timo Kalliomäki
Package: kio-extras
Version: 4:18.08.3-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

MTP access is flaky (with a Sony Z5 Android device). The device is detected when
choosing "file transfer mode" on it, but trying to browse the device in Dolphin
often results in the connection "resetting" and the device showing a new
connection mode prompt (or a rapid burst of them). If I do manage to
successfully
browse the device, the connection will fail on attempt to copy a file from the
device with a "The process for the mtp protocol died unexpectedly" Dolphin error
dialog. The same hardware setup performs flawlessly when using another operating
system on the host, so this is a software problem in the Debian environment.

Timo

Bug#918772: Fetching fails with NoSuchMethodError under Java 8 (java.nio.ByteBuffer.flip())

2019-01-08 Thread Timo Kalliomäki
Package: libwagon-http-shaded-java
Version: 3.2.0-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

when trying to run Maven for a Java 8 project, fetching metadata fails with
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError. See log excerpt below for details.

The gist is that handling URLs, HttpClient does a flip() to a ByteBuffer. From
Java 9 the said method has a covariant return type, so the resultant bytecode
calls java.nio.ByteBuffer.flip()Ljava/nio/ByteBuffer which fails under Java 8.
A quick search showed that one strategy people are using to produce bytecode
compatible on both JREs is doing ((Buffer)byteBuffer).flip().

Bug#918705: URL parsing fails with NoSuchMethodError on Java 8

2019-01-08 Thread Timo Kalliomäki
Package: libhttpclient-java
Version: 4.5.6-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

The parsing functionality under URLEncodedUtils fails when running under Java 8.
This seems to be due to the return type of java.nio.ByteBuffer.flip() having
changed (covariant), so that the bytecodes of 11 and 8 are not compatible.

I stumbled upon this when trying to use Maven from the Debian repository in a
Java 8 project, but here's a minimal NWE:
 import java.net.URI;
 import java.nio.charset.StandardCharsets;
 import org.apache.http.client.utils.URLEncodedUtils;
 public class UrlParsing {
   public static void main(String[] args) {
 URLEncodedUtils.parse("http://example.com/?key=value;,
StandardCharsets.US_ASCII);
   }
 }

Bug#914216: postgresql-11-postgis-2.5: CREATE EXTENSION postgis does not finish

2018-11-20 Thread Timo Kalliomäki
Package: postgresql-11-postgis-2.5
Version: 2.5.0+dfsg-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

on the Buster postgresql-11-postgis-2.5(-scripts), the command CREATE
EXTENSION postgis; produces no results and gets stuck indefinitely
(had to kill -9). The corresponding steps work on Stretch as expected.

Steps to reproduce:

apt-get install -y --no-install-recommends postgresql
postgresql-11-postgis-2.5 postgresql-11-postgis-2.5-scripts
service postgresql start
su postgres
psql -c "CREATE DATABASE sampledb;"
psql -c "CREATE EXTENSION postgis;" sampledb

I could not manage to produce any useful debug information; e.g. with
-d 5 I got similar command parse information on Stretch and Buster but
no details about the actual extension setup.

Bug#884346: kio-extras: Please consider separating smb

2017-12-14 Thread Timo Kalliomäki
Source: kio-extras
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

The plugins in the kio-extras collection seem to be rather independent
of each other, the current package simply containing them all.

IMHO it might be worth it separating the Samba plugin "smb" into its
own package. The Samba dependency is quite hefty: on my rather minimal
KDE installation installing libsmbclient and its dependencies add 44.2
MB, which makes up as much as 93% of the 47.4 MB required for
kio-extras. Additionally, the Samba dependency means I still have
Python 2.

Bug#877167: texlive-latex-extra: Pdfx does not find the sRGB_IEC61966-2-1_black_scaled.icc from icc-profiles

2017-09-29 Thread Timo Kalliomäki
Package: texlive-latex-extra
Version: 2017.20170926-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Trying to compile anything with a basic, default-settings usage of the
package pdfx will produce an error. This is because the package pdfx
needs an RGB color profile to output PDF/A files (the default output
format), and the default sRGB_IEC61966-2-1_black_scaled.icc supplied
by the author with the package has been omitted.

I would assume the omission is due to license reasons? Any usage,
distribution and modification of the .icc file is permitted by the
rights holder, but modified versions must not be distributed with the
same name or description.

Debian does already ship sRGB_IEC61966-2-1_black_scaled.icc in the
non-free icc-profiles, but the error is produced even when
icc-profiles is installed. I suggest that a symlink to the file be
included in this package. Those who have made the ideological choice
of installing the non-free icc-profiles would get the default behavior
as intended by the author, while others would get the exact same
behavior as currently.

Best regards,
Timo

the original .sty file, or any other help resource.

In particular, bugs that are related to up-upstream, i.e., neither
Debian nor TeX Live (upstream), but the original package authors,
will be closed immediately.

*** The Debian TeX Team is *not* a LaTeX Help Desk ***

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report.

Please run your example with
(pdf)latex -recorder ...
(or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated
file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during
the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in
your home directory.

Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are
needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of

you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that

I previously had a /etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-slight.conf to use the
hintslight style. When I tried to upgrade from stretch to the current
2.12.3-0.2, dpkg --configure failed:

Setting up fontconfig-config (2.12.3-0.2) ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/fonts/fonts.conf ...
ln: failed to create symbolic link
'/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-slight.conf': File exists
dpkg: error processing package fontconfig-config (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Even if there is no previous 10-hinting-slight.conf, the problem
occurs on a downgrade-upgrade round-trip.

IMHO a reasonable behavior might be to check whether
/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-*.conf exists and skip the linking in the
affirmative case.

Best regards,
Timo

Bug#877018: texlive-luatex: Missing dependency to etoolbox, which is required by lualatex-math to function

2017-09-27 Thread Timo Kalliomäki

Package: texlive-luatex
Version: 2016.20170123-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

lualatex-math in this package requires etoolbox to function. There is no
dependency or even recommendation path to texlive-latex-extra where
etoolbox is placed. So, just installing this package and trying to use
lualatex-math (in my case it was required by unicode-math) leads to
documents not compiling.

Best regards,
Timo

-- Package-specific info:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We will only consider bug reports concerning
the packaging of TeX Live as relevant. If you have problems with
combination of packages in a LaTeX document, please consult your
local TeX User Group, the comp.text.tex user group, the author of
the original .sty file, or any other help resource.

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at

Bug#863621: plasma-pa: Notification sounds volume stuck at zero

2017-05-29 Thread Timo Kalliomäki
Package: plasma-pa
Version: 4:5.8.6-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I wanted to change my "notification sounds" volume. I opened the plasma-pa
settings and moved the slider. The slider was at zero, and trying to change the
value resulted in the setting immediately returning back to zero. The expected
outcome was being able to set the volume to a non-zero value.

As a workaround, I used pavucontrol to change the value from zero. After this,
plasma-pa also seems to work properly.
