Bug#406046: Useradd: limits password to eight characters

It was about 6000 files over the internet (DSL connection). Mainly small gifs and a few hundred php/ html. Generally small filesizes (0.5 - 1K). It crached when trying to do it all in one go. I did several tries and it crached on different points. Doing small chunks, 500 to 1000 files at the time went OK.
