Thank you very much for the explanation. I have tried to fix the
scim-gtk-immodule upstream
but although the x11 window issue is addressed there are still other
problems.
It seems that it is impossible to get the global coordinates for a widget
in wayland
so it is difficult to place the "candidate window" alongside with the input
cursor in the correct position.
I am investigating it and hope that I can find a way to address it soon.

Thank you very much for the bug report.

The scim daemon will write back the config file to the disk when exit.
However, in some cases the scim daemon exists before the writing is
finished.
It leads to the empty config file so all the settings are lost.

In general it should be very rare but it depends on how the desktop
environment system stops the scim daemon.

We will try to avoid or mitigate the problem. Thanks again for the bug
report.

Bug#747154: Backspace and delete keys dysfunctional in gedit

2014-05-13 Thread Tz-Huan Huang
Hi,

I can confirm that it is scim's bug (actually, scim gtk-immodule's bug).
The bug came from the migration of scim-bridge,
I tried to fix it once but I didn't figure it out at that time.
I will try to fix it if my time is available...

By the way, there is a workaround for this bug. Since the bug is in
scim's gtk-immodule, use XIM should work fine.

  $ env GTK_IM_MODULE=xim gedit

It works fine here.

Thanks,
Tz-Huan

Bug#705524: scim-setup does nothing. When run on terminal, writes GLib-* errrs to stderr and halts.

 Hi, Tz-Huan,

Could you please remove the scim-bridge-agent and
 scim-bridge-client-gtk then try scim-setup again?

I have removed these packages and have tried again,
 but nothing gets better.

Sorry for the wrong information. The scim-bridge is not related to this issue.

After all, I have learned the package
 ii scim-anthy 1.2.7-3
i386 SCIM IMEngine module for Anthy
 is not provided for Wheezy.

It seems that this scim-anthy (1.2.7-3) is from Squeeze
 which was previously installed.

I have confirmed that scim-setup works fine if scim-anthy
 is removed.

If you just want to setup the scim itself (not scim-anthy),
there might be a workaround to make the scim-setup work
but also keep the scim-anthy installed.

Please install scim-anthy again and just delete this file or move
it to anywhere else:

  /usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/SetupUI/anthy-imengine-setup.so

Then, scim-setup won't load anthy's setup module and should
work fine. Of course, you cannot setup scim-anthy this way.

I wonder why scim-anthy is not provided for Wheezy
though it's available for Squeeze, Jessie and Sid.

It was a long story... Since Wheezy is released, we cannot
add it back to Wheezy easily except backport.
However, you can try the scim and scim-anthy from Jessie.
They should work in Wheezy at this moment.

Should I use ibus instead of scim?

While I am the developer of scim, I just use scim.
Therefore, I cannot provide any suggestion about that. :-)

Thanks,
Tz-Huan

As Osamu Aoki said, the scim-bridge and related packages are
removed (since the scim-bridge has been merged into scim).

I haven't found some time to test it, but I guess the old version
of scim-bridge conflicts the current version of scim.
Could you please remove the scim-bridge-agent and
scim-bridge-client-gtk then try scim-setup again?

You might consider installing scim-im-agent and
scim-gtk-immodule, they play the same roles as
scim-bridge-agent and scim-bridge-client-gtk, respectively.

Thanks,
Tz-Huan

 Dear Maintainer,

Installed SCIM; configured as per README.Debian.gz.
I use the Sawfish window manager; environment and scim -d added to
 .xsession.
Everything else appears to work properly, including the method switcher in
 the system tray.

However, when I right-click on the systray icon, and select SCIM Setup,
 nothing happens.
I attempted to run this program from a terminal, just in case, and received
 the following output:

I believe that the root of the problem is scim-kmfl-imengine.
Could you please uninstall it and try the scim-setup again?

Greetings Release Team,

I'm writing to you as I would like your approval to upload scim-tables package

The main change is a new patch to fix the FTBFS, others include the updates of
debhelper related files, compat file, debian-standard-version, etc.

Please find the relevant diff here:

less so for an upload via t-p-u.

That's larger than I was expecting, but looks reasonable. I'm assuming
it's already applied to the package in unstable?

Yes, the patch is from new upstream release (0.5.11).

 + * debian/patches/*.patch: upgrade to quilt style.
 + * debian/compat: update to 9.
 + * debian/source/format: update to 3.0 (quilt).
 + * debian/rules:
 +- simplified for debhelper 9.

I'm afraid none of the above are appropriate changes during a freeze.

I have re-made a new package contains only the necessary bit,
please find it attached.

The multi-arch part is to make the scim-tables built-able with
new version of libscim-dev, which is multi-archified after 1.4.14.
If it is also not appropriate, I'll remove it.

Do the changes still build correctly / as expected with 1.4.13, which is

Yes, it builds fine in both testing (with scim-1.4.13-5) and unstable

 Hi Tz-Huan Huang,

This Bug#680655 is somehow related to im-config with scim. With recent
multiarch and major system updates of scim, I am not sure what is
happening. Can you check this since this seems to be scim related.

Since scim doesn't use dbus, it might not related to the
initialization problem. I'll try to figure it out, thanks.

The maintainer of scim-chewing has just solved the issue, but
he hasn't release it yet. I have built the package myself, could
you please try this one

  http://alioth.debian.org/~tzhuan-guest/scim-chewing_0.3.4-3tz1_i386.deb

with the latest scim and tell me it works or not? Thanks.

I have never used VM images.

doesn't make it clear what that is.
You can send me anything... but please be sure it is under 5 MB, and

Or maybe we should just wait a few days for others to hit the same bug.

Sorry for the ambiguity. I mean virtual machine. I use VirtualBox

install i386 sid on it to try to re-produce the problem.

It is easy to use, the problem is that it is impossible to be less than 5MB.
Actually I won't send it to you via email, I'll put it somewhere so
that you can download it. How do you think?

2012-07-24 Thread Tz-Huan Huang
Package: scim-anthy

Dear Maintainer,

The setup UI is broken in version 1.2.7-4. When launching scim-setup, the

and the setup UI of scim-anthy is useless. The dropdown list has no function
when clicking, so that nothing can be changed/configured. Hope that you can fix
it, thanks.

Yes. The version of scim-modules-socket and scim-gtk-immodule should
be the same as scim itself.

Also, the scim-anthy/scim-canna/scim-modules-table should be updated to
work with the latest scim. Could you please try the packages here?

I see there is a scim 1.4.14-1x1 in experimental, but as I understand from
the changelog, this version fixes a FTBS on other platforms than i386.
(although 1.4.14-1 seems to FTBS on my i386 platform as well)

There are some problems about the multi-arch path support and
they should be fixed now.

Glad to hear that they work for you!

Here is the status of those packages:

The fix is in 1.4.14-1x1, which has been uploaded to experimental.

* scim-tables: it has been removed. Now we are trying to re-add
it to debiain.

* scim-anthy: 1.2.7-4 in sid should work fine for you excepts the
configuration UI. There is some bugs in configuration UI. My package
contains the fix and I'm discussing it with the maintainer now. Note
that my version number is wrong. The next debian version contains
the fix might be 1.2.7-5 I think.

* scim-canna: I have tried to contact the maintainer to update
the patch but no reply yet. If the maintainer is busy or is not
interesting in it now, I'll try to maintain (or co-maintain) this package.

Bug#678890: scim kaput

2012-07-03 Thread Tz-Huan Huang
Hi,

after the latest upgrade, as of yesterday, my scim does not start
anymore. I have this in my .xsession:
 scim -c simple -e
 pinyin,chewing,libprime,libprime-imengine-setup,m17n,pinyin,prime,rawcode,socket,table,uim
  -d

We are very sorry about this.

The scim-1.4.13-5 is built against gtk3 by default.
However, other scim related modules are still built against gtk2.
The mixing of gtk2/gtk3 causes the crash of scim.

Could you please try not to load the libprime-imengine-setup? e.g.,

scim -c simple -e
pinyin,chewing,libprime,m17n,pinyin,prime,rawcode,socket,table,uim -d

If it works, please use it temporarily and we will fix it as soon as
possible. We are upgrading all scim related modules now, but
it requires some time to finish.

Thanks,
Tz-Huan

I think you should look at files in: http://oss.leggewie.org/deb/

Yes, indeed.  The binary files themselves are in the toplevel
directory.  My apologies for the mistake and ensuing confusion.

Since I have only amd64 system, I built amd64 version of scim_1.4.13-0
myself and it works fine. I think these two bugs (632094 and 642929)
are fixed as well as this one: http://bugs.debian.org/641140 .

Thanks,

 Hello Tz-Huan and Pascal,

a new release of scim for Debian is pending and I believe the issue you
reported earlier will be fixed by it.

 http://bugs.debian.org/632094
 http://bugs.debian.org/642929

Can you please download the packages from
 http://oss.leggewie.org/deb/scim.md5, verify against
http://oss.leggewie.org/deb/scim.md5 and let me know if indeed the
problem is gone?  Thank you.  You might need the newly-introduced
 scim-gtk3-immodule package.

I don't find the link to download the packages but I'd like to confirm
that scim-1.4.13 solves the problem. Thanks.

Yes, but XIM is not the default input method, you have to select it by
 hand.

I have tested XIM but it didn't work either. When the input method of
gnome-terminal is switched to XIM, the hot-key to toggle the input
method is useless and there is no menu popup when I click the scim
icon on the system tray so that I cannot select any input methods.
It tunes out that I don't find a way to change the input method.

I have tested scim on XIM-based program such as rxvt-unicode and
they work fine.

Thanks,
Tz-Huan
