had developed motherboard problem also. Even if I dig it out, I am not
sure if it worth the effort. So I guess it could be closed up.

Those are not actual servers but workstations. Shares are mounted for
making backups.
But if it's unlikely to be fixed, then I'll try to create alternative
way to backup using smbclient (at least until fusesmb or smbnetfs is
fixed, so that they work). If there only were a way to stop smbclient
reporting every file it gets with mget

2009-02-14 Thread Virgo Pärna
Ok, now I'm out of ideas. I modified /etc/init.d/checkroot.sh file to
see, if ac module is loaded and what is the result of "on_ac_power ;
echo $?" and "cat /sys/class/power_supply/ACAD/online". The power is
connected during the startup. Results are:
"lsmod | grep ac" shows, that ac module is loaded. But
"on_ac_power ; echo $?" returns 1
and
"cat /sys/class/power_supply/ACAD/online" returns 0
But when system is completely started, then
"on_ac_power ; echo $?" returns 0
and
"cat /sys/class/power_supply/ACAD/online" returns 1
And I am fresh out of ideas to check.

Bug#501935: Info received (USB mass storage devica (Pentax Optio E50 camera) is not accesible with USB cable)

2009-02-13 Thread Virgo Pärna
Newest kernels should now have workarounds in it (2.6.27 should also
have it backported - but not for 2.6.26 (I think)). The problem was,
that several devices report invalid sector count (1 more then there is)
and that causes problems, when attempt is made to read last sector.
Newest kernels have workaround for all Nikon, Pentax, Nokia and Motorola
devices. I'm also including entire message text about adding update to
2.6.27 tree. But udev change helped to work around it in existing system.

This is a note to let you know that we have just queued up the patch titled

Subject: USB: usb-storage: add Pentax to the bad-vendor list

to the 2.6.27-stable tree. Its filename is

commit 506e9469833c66ed6bb9acd902e208f7301b6adb upstream.

This patch (as1202) adds Pentax to usb-storage's list of bad vendors
whose devices always need the CAPACITY_HEURISTICS flag. This is in
addition to the existing entries: Nokia, Nikon, and Motorola.

Not that i know. I'm currently using 2.6.26-13 kernel package.
/etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf has MODULES=most line and
/etc/initramfs-tools/modules is empty (except standard commented out
lines).

I updated my installation, but it didn't change anything for this.
Message appears right after message about activating swap. Earlier
messages go past so fast, that I can't really read them.
I don't think, that the fact, that I am using jfs filesystem changes
anything about this?
I did post to gmane.linux.debian.users to check, if anyone else has
also this message.

cat: /sys/class/power_supply/AC/online: No such file or directory

But there is cat /sys/class/power_supply/ACAD/online which is 1 when AC
is connected and 0 when not.

When Googling around, I found the hints, that the problem may be caused
by ac module being not loaded, when filesystem checks are done.

It is a problem, because it never does filesystem check - even after
crash, when it is necessary. And the message says, that it skips the
check because it is running on battery power, when it is not running on
battery power but in AC power.

It is a feature, that the system reports, that it is running on
battery, when it is not running on battery?

Bug#417056: clamd.pid file is deleted after executing /etc/init.d/clamav-daemon reload-log

2007-04-01 Thread Virgo Pärna
Package: clamd
Severity: important

When /etc/init.d/clamav-daemon reload-log is executed, then
the clamd.pid file is deleted (there is message in clamd log file about
reloading log file). If you run /etc/init.d/clamav-daemon reload-log
again, then the log file does not get reloaded. As a result, after first
logrotate rotating clamd logs stops working. Same is true for freshclam
also.
