Bug#901919: this bug hits hard
Please at the very least spread the word about the usercopy_fallback workaround, if the bug cannot be fixed for now. I was also affected, it took me several hours to find what the problem was. There was also an unrelated timidity bug that killed sound too in the recent update. So yesterday I updated the system and both video and audio went down hard. By the way, why is this an "important" bug? I think it should be classified as "grave" or "critical". It clearly broke my system, and made the package unusable.
Bug#802544: similar here
I am getting the same xf86EnableIOPorts: failed to set IOPL for I/O (Operation not permitted) error in gdm3 / startx after the recent xorg update. Only root can run startx with 7.7+12 on my machine. Luckily, downgrade to 7.7+7 fixed the regression.

Bug#515962: [Fwd: Re: [Pkg-octave-devel] Bug#515962: octave3.0-emacsen: octave mode does not respect tab-width]
Hi John, I set tab-width to 8, but Octave mode does not care about this. Then I tell it to indent (say, M-C-q), it uses tabs of two spaces, which is _not_ nice. regards, Vladimir John W. Eaton wrote: On 18-Feb-2009, Vladimir Z wrote: | Package: octave3.0-emacsen | Version: 1:3.0.1-6lenny3 | Severity: normal | | The octave mode does respect user's tab-width variable. | in octave-mode.el: | | (defcustom octave-block-offset 2 | Extra indentation applied to statements in Octave block structures. | :type 'integer | :group 'octave) | | 2 should be tab-width, I believe. Looking at other Emacs programming modes, I don't see that this is the common way to define indentation widths, so I don't see why Octave mode should do it. BTW, are you setting tab-width to something other than 8? I think that is almost always the wrong thing to do, because then if you share your files with someone else who doesn't know what your special tab-width setting is, the file will likely look garbled. jwe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
