Bug#935402: O: mytop

mytop is now part of mariadb-client, therefore the mytop package
doesn't seem to make much sense anymore.

Bug#935401: RFA: policyd-weight -- Perl policy daemon for the Postfix MTA

2019-08-22 Thread Werner Detter
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the policyd-weight package, a Perl policy daemon for
the Postfix MTA.
The package is implemented in Perl. Upstream is inactive since years, features
have been
implemented by myself on request and need. The package is in good shape
although there are a
few open bugs which are easy to fix and will be a good start for a new
maintainer. Since Postfix
itself has postscreen implemented for the same purpose the usage of this
package will constantly
decrease, probably.

The package description is:
 policyd-weight is intended to eliminate forged envelope senders and HELOs
 (i.e. in bogus mails). It allows you to score DNSBLs (RBL/RHSBL), HELO,
 MAIL FROM and client IP addresses before any queuing is done. It allows
 you to REJECT messages which have a score higher than allowed, providing
 improved blocking of spam and virus mails. policyd-weight caches the most
 frequent client/sender combinations (SPAM as well as HAM) to reduce the
 number of DNS queries.

Cheers,
Werner

Bug#931307: linux-image-4.9.0-9-amd64: Problems with Samba Shares?

2019-07-01 Thread Werner Detter
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.9.168-1+deb9u3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading to the latest linux-image-adm64 on stretch we're experiencing
strange issues on a
fileserver with samba: directory listings in subfolder of shares don't work
after upgrading to
4.9.168-1+deb9u3 on the clients. I've rebooted the machine to
linux-image-4.9.0-8-amd64 - with that
version everything is working.

So I'm wondering if there are other users which experience similar problems
with the latest
kernel and samba?

Thanks,
Werner

Bug#931228: policyd-weight: dead upstream

2019-06-30 Thread Werner Detter
this is nothing new: Upstream is discontinued since I took over the
package years ago, I took care to fix bugs and implemented things
where needed.

policyd-weight is still used but usage decreases. I'd suggest to leave
the package meanwhile and remove it after usage has significantly
dropped (and users switched to other software e.g. postscreen)

I don't know which source of mytop is included in mariadb-client-10.1
and cannot estimate if the standalone package of mytop makes sense or
not in stretch. I assume the Maintainers of MariaDB do things right
so I won't look further into this.

Bug#845225: mytop: Incorrectly parses quoted values in .my.cnf

2016-11-24 Thread Werner Detter
Hi Matthew,

the issue relies on the way how Config::IniFiles (used by mytop) and the
mysql client itself process the config files. This can easily solved
bycreating a ~/.mytop config as described. Therefor I'm closing this bug.

Thanks for your help,
Werner

Bug#845225: mytop: Incorrectly parses quoted values in .my.cnf

2016-11-23 Thread Werner Detter
Hi,

just create a custom ~/.mytop file like follows (see perldoc mytop for
more information):

werner@debian:~$ cat ~/.mytop
user=youruser
pass=my#password
host=localhost

And your ~/.my.cnf remains:
[client]
password="my#password"

mytop and the mysql client are working this way.

Thanks,
Werner

Bug#841944: policyd-weight: Docs refer to AHBL service which has been withdrawn

2016-10-28 Thread Werner Detter
Severity: minor

Hi,

this DNSBL has already been removed from configuration, see

So it's just a non important cosmetic documentation issue which I'll fix
with the next package version.

Bug#811164: RFS: policyd-weight/0.1.15.2-11

2016-01-16 Thread Werner Detter
Package: sponsorship-requests
Subject: RFS - policyd-weight/0.1.15.2-11

Hi everybody,

I've created a new version of my package policyd-weight.

 * Package name: policyd-weight
   Version : 0.1.15.2-11
   Upstream Author : Robert Felber
 * URL : www.policyd-weight.org
 * License : GPL-2+
   Section : mail

As my sponsor Arno seems to be unavailable sice some weeks I'm asking here for
someone who
could upload my packages. Debdiff is found under [1], changes since last upload:

policyd-weight (0.1.15.2-11) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/postrm
+ Fix command-with-path-in-maintainer-script
  * debian/init.d
+ Updated LSB header
  * debian/rules
+ Add dh_lintian
  * Add debian/source.lintian-overrides
+ override for debian-watch-may-check-gpg-signature as upstream does
  not provide cryptographic signature
  * Update to debhelper 9
  * Updated 10_replace_net_dns_dn_expand.patch to use official replacement
Net::DNS::DomainName::decode for Net::DNS::Packet::dn_expand
  * Add 13_fix_default_rhsbl_dnsbl_in_man5.patch which updates default
dnsbls/rhsbls in man5 manpage
  * Add 14_ignore_rfc1918_a_records_config_option.patch which introduces
new config config option $IGNORE_RFC1918_A. If enabled A records with
RFC1918 addresses aren't treated as bogus addresses by policyd-weight
and therefore bogus_mx_score is not added. Updated sample configuration
and man5 manpage (Closes: #799314)
  * Add closing bug in previous changelog entry

Bug#799314: policyd-weight: false positive for BOGUS_MX

2015-11-25 Thread Werner Detter
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

Hi Julien,

I suggest a new config variable $IGNORE_RFC1918_A.

If enabled (1) A records with RFC1918 addresses aren't treated as bogus
addresses by policyd-weight
anymore and therefore bogus_mx_score is not added. So the current behavior
persists and can be
changed if needed. My Patch (see [1]) worked in my lab environment so far. I'll
upload the new package
soon to mentors and let you know.

Cheers,
Werner

Bug#799314: policyd-weight: false positive for BOGUS_MX

2015-09-17 Thread Werner Detter
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Hi Julien,

I assume the email delivery attempt was made by the regular mailserver
which is responsible for the domain "valiant.palfrader.org"? If I check
that shortly by telnetting to the policyd-weight port and provide the
following information within the session, terminated by an empty line:

request=smtpd_access_policy
protocol_state=RCPT
protocol_name=SMTP
helo_name=anguilla.noreply.org
client_address=86.59.21.37
reverse_client_name=anguilla.noreply.org
sender=wea...@valiant.palfrader.org

The result here is:
action=PREPEND X-policyd-weight: NOT_IN_SBL_XBL_SPAMHAUS=-1.5
NOT_IN_SPAMCOP=-1.5 CL_IP_EQ_FROM_MX=-3.1 ; rate: -6.1

So, policyd-weight didn't mark the email with "BOGUS_MX" even if
the domain of the sender address has an a record with a RFC1819
address.

Please provide the exact values for the delivery attempt in question.

Cheers,
Werner

It's implemented as "The sender A or MX records are bogus or empty", right.

> And anyway, if the sender domain has a MX record, its A or records
> shouldn't matter in the email context in any way.

I agree, absolutly right - in the context of SMTP and if there is an MX
record - A or  records shouldn't matter.

But consider that policyd-weight is not an MTA but a policyd daemon which
was created to eleminate forged envelops senders ... and policyd-weight
just considers A records among other things. Let me check the effort
that needs to be done to change this behaviour but still - having private
IP address in public DNS is bad, bad practice.

2015-09-17 Thread Werner Detter
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Hi Julien,

this is the default behaviour of policyd-weight, from the manpage:

- -- cut --
@bogus_mx_score (2.1, 0)
If the sender domain has neither MX nor A records or these records resolve
to a bogus IP-Address
(for instance private networks) then this check asigns the full score of
bogus_mx_score. If there is
no MX but an A record of the sender domain then it receives a penalty only if
DNSBL-listed.

Log Entries:

  BOGUS_MX
  The sender A and MX records are bogus or empty.

  BAD_MX
  The sender domain has an empty or bogus MX record anthe client is
DNSBL listed.

  Related RFCs:

  [1918] Address Allocation for Private Internets
  [2821] Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (Sect 3.6 and Sect 5)
- -- cut --

Having an global A-record with a private IP address is "suspicous" as those
addresses aren't routed
globally. I don't think this is something that needs to be adjusted within
policyd-weight.

Cheers,
Werner

Bug#789788: apache2: old configuration syntax in security.conf

2015-06-24 Thread Werner Detter
Package: apache2
Version: 2.4.10-10
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

the default installation of Apache 2.4 on Jessie uses old Apache 2.2 syntax in
/etc/apache2/conf-available/security.conf:

#Directory /
#   AllowOverride None
#   Order Deny,Allow
#   Deny from all
#/Directory

Which should be:

#Directory /
#   AllowOverride None
#   Require all denied
#/Directory

cheers,
Werner

Bug#774773: wheezy-pu: package policyd-weight/policyd-weight/0.1.15.2-5+wheezy2

2015-01-17 Thread Werner Detter
Hi Adam,

 As it's just a documentation fix, including it in unstable later would
 be okay. Please let us have an updated debdiff including the manpage
 fix, so we can confirm it's okay.

The manpage fixes will be done in the next package for unstable as it's
less important and more like a cosmetic issue. Should the updated package
for wheezy contain the manpage fixes already - or should we just omit it?

The current debdiff for policyd-weight/0.1.15.2-5+wheezy2 can be found
here: [1]

Thanks,
Werner

Hi Sebastian,

 Let's start with the upload to unstable. Could you please close
 #774772 in the changelog?

I'd prefer closing this report by hand as I've created the packages
already this morning.

 Has the stable upload been coordinated with the release team?

I'll take care.

Thanks,

 You might also want to update the manpage?
the man5 manpage needs to be updated, right. I will do this in unstable with

Otherwise I need to recreate the both packages and we need to upload stable and

What do you propose?

Bug#774768: spamassassin: DNSBL ahbl.org has been shutdown - please disable due to false positives

2015-01-07 Thread Werner Detter
Hi Adam,

 fwiw this is only an issue if one does not have rule updates enabled
 (which one really should):

you're right, thanks for the comment.

 /var/lib/spamassassin/3.003002/updates_spamassassin_org/50_scores.cf:# AHBL
 is closing down. disabling early. (Axb-2014-03-28)
 /var/lib/spamassassin/3.003002/updates_spamassassin_org/50_scores.cf:#score
 DNS_FROM_AHBL_RHSBL 0 2.438 0 2.699 # n=0 n=2

Which leads me to the next question: why are the rule updates not enabled by
default in /etc/default/spamassassin ? Default IMHO
should be CRON=1 instead of CRON=0.

Cheers,
Werner

Bug#774768: spamassassin: DNSBL ahbl.org has been shutdown - please disable due to false positives

2015-01-07 Thread Werner Detter
Package: spamassassin
Version: 3.3.2-5+deb7u1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

as of January 1st, 2015 the DNSBLs from ahbl.org have been shutdown which may
lead to false positives
as requests are positively answered now by the list operators. See the relevant
announcement:

http://www.ahbl.org/content/changes-ahbl

This adds now 2.699 Hits to every Mail when Spamassassin is used, e.g.

X-Spam-Status: Yes, score=2.825 tagged_above=-999 required=2
tests=[BAYES_50=0.8, DKIM_SIGNED=0.1, DKIM_VALID=-0.1, DKIM_VALID_AU=-0.1,
DNS_FROM_AHBL_RHSBL=2.699

Please, remove this DNSBL from spamassassin.

Thank you,
Werner Detter

2015-01-06 Thread Werner Detter
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

policyd-weight uses the abusive hosts blocking list which has been shutdown on
january 1st,
more information can be found on the website of the dnsbl:

http://www.ahbl.org/content/last-notice-wildcarding-services-jan-1st

The list now replies which a positive response which may lead to false
positives. I hereby
ask for someone to upload this package to stable?

I've already recreated the package for unstable and uploaded it to mentors.
Meanwhile I've
backported the patch for stable. A debdiff can be found here [1]

Bug#774413: RFS: libcmime/0.1.15-1 [ITP]

2015-01-02 Thread Werner Detter
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package libcmime

* Package name: libcmime
  Version : 0.1.15
  Upstream Author : Axel Steiner, a...@treibsand.com
Werner Detter, wer...@aloah-from-hell.de
Robin Doer, r...@space.net
* URL : http://www.libcmime.org
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : libcmime is a lightweight mime library, written in C

It builds those binary packages:

 libcmime-dev - lightweight C mime library - development files
 libcmime0.1 - lightweight C mime library

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:
http://mentors.debian.net/package/libcmime

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:
dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libc/libcmime/libcmime_0.1.15-1.dsc

More information about libcmime can be obtained from http://www.libcmime.org

As this is my first package which contains a shared library I ask for help and
assistance about
the current state of the package and improvements/adjustments which could or
should be made.

The library uses cmake, I currently do use cdbs as build system for the
package. Currently I've
split the package into a -dev and a regular package. I still have some lintian
messages left,
e.g

libcmime-dev: package-contains-broken-symlink
usr/lib/libcmime.so libcmime.so.0.1

Is this something which should be fixed with a lintian override? The -dev
package refers to libcmime.so.0.1
which is provided by the regular package?

Any help/comments welcome :)

Thank you,
Werner Detter

Bug#763986: policyd-weight: lookup socket connection to ipv6 dns-servers not possible, throws warning and uses NET::DNS instead

2014-10-04 Thread Werner Detter
Package: policyd-weight
Version: 0.1.15.2-8
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

policyd-weight is not able to create a lookup socket connection if local dns
server address is a ipv6 address - policyd-weight
tries to create a new socket which fails because socket creation is implemented
only for v4 with IO::Socket::INET but not
but not for ipv6 with IO::Socket::INET6. The following warning message is
generated:

Oct 4 15:25:18 smaint postfix/policyd-weight[2926]: warning: child: could not
open RBL Lookup Socket to ::1: IO::Socket::INET: Bad hostname '::1' Invalid
argument

policyd-weight in consequence of the failed socket creation then uses Net::DNS
for dns resolution instead of a socket. So a
validation should be implemented if used dns ip address is a ipv6 address. If
so, IO::Socket::INET6 should be used for socket
creation.

Cheers,
Werner Detter

libnet-dns-perl upgrade,
technically speaking policyd-weight used Net::DNS::Packet function dh_expand()
which does not exist
anymore. This upgrade fixes policyd-weight, policyd-weight now uses
Net::DNS::Packet function
dh_expand_PP().

 * Package name: policyd-weight
   Version : 0.1.15.2-8
   Upstream Author : Robert Felber
 * URL : www.policyd-weight.org
 * License : GPL-2+
   Section : mail

Changes:

  * Add 10_replace_net_dns_dn_expand.patch which replaces Net::DNS::Packet
function dh_expand() with dh_expand_PP() (Closes: #752845)
  * Fixed description in 09_fix_net_dns_usage.patch

It builds those binary packages:
policyd-weight - Perl policy daemon for the Postfix MTA

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/policyd-weight

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/policyd-weight/policyd-weight_0.1.15.2-8.dsc

It would be great if you could upload this package for me.

Cheers,

Bug#752845: decode Net::DNS::DomainName

2014-07-02 Thread Werner Detter
Hi Willem,

thanks for your answer/reply on this issue and pointing out the offical
replacement for dn_expand(). In the long run it probably would make sense
using Net::DNS::DomainName::decode but this requires some more changes to
policyd-weight. I've replaced obsolete dh_expand() function with
Net::DNS::Packet::dn_expand_PP() which fixes problems in policyd-weight
for the latest libnet-dns-perl package.

Cheers,
Werner

Bug#752845: recent libnet-dns-perl upgrade has broken policyd-weight.

2014-06-27 Thread Werner Detter
Hi everybody,

I've tried to build a new package with the mentioned replacement function
netdns_dn_expand, but unfortunately I still get the same error:

Jun 27 20:23:31 smaint postfix/policyd-weight[19518]: warning: child: err:
Undefined subroutine main::netdns_dn_expand called at /usr/sbin/policyd-weight
line 3590, GEN9 line 26.#012

So, this indicates that there is no such function available. I've digged a
little deeper into this and it seems like dn_expand is gone since Net-DNS-0.73,
relased on 29th November 2003, the changelog[1] mentiones:

-- cut --
Fix rt.cpan.org 13243 and 13191

The escaped characters test failed on some system because the
the systems dn_expand instead of the supplied dn_expand
was used after the makemaker magic linked DNS.xs.

This was fixed by renaming the dn_expand that comes with the
library to netdns_dn_expand.
-- cut --

It seems like upstream authors of Net-DNS removed dn_expand but did not add the
replacement function to the netdns_dn_expand to the perl module.

*) dn_expand available:
http://search.cpan.org/~nlnetlabs/Net-DNS-0.72/lib/Net/DNS/Packet.pm

*) dn_expand not available, nor netdns_dn_expand
http://search.cpan.org/~nlnetlabs/Net-DNS-0.73/lib/Net/DNS/Packet.pm

This makes it hart to add a fix to policyd-weight :)

@Ondřej
Could you please ask upstream/report the issue?

Thank you,
Werner Detter

Bug#742043: policyd-weight: Mail with empty envelope sender is not filtered

2014-03-24 Thread Werner Detter
Hi Ralf,

 please refer to:
 https://www.mail-archive.com/policyd-weight-list@ek-muc.de/msg00721.html

 the current behaviour is disired and expected. You must let the NULL-sender
 (mainly generated
 by DSNs) pass/accept no matter what the policy says.

 That was an interesting read, thanks for the pointer. However,
 unfortunately the question why DSNs should be treated any different than
 normal Mail was raised, but not answered in that thread. In other words:
 Why should I let a server that's on 4 blacklists, and from which I block
 all mail, allow to submit DSNs to my server? In particular considering
 that I do not use DNSs at all, so I know every incoming DSN is forged.

Thanks for your reply. The current policyd-weight implementation honors the
NULL-sender, passes
emails with NULL-sender address and does not privide a possibiliy to change
this behaviour, e.g.
by config option.

If you want to be able to change this behaviour (treating the NULL-sender
address like every other
address), please provide a patch for it. I assume most people do use DSNs.

Regards,
Werner

 Ah, sorry about that, didn't realize it was part of that bug too.
 When can this next version be expected?

The current cosmetic changes are not enough for an update of the
package but I expect the next package in the beginning of the first
quater '14 - if there are no critical bugs/issues until then.

 You'll have to explain to me why this is right? /lib/init/vars.sh still

 the policyd-weight init script doesn't use of them - maybe that's the point?

 Right, but I had the lintian warning: init.d-script-call-internal-API

 So, I took it out.

 deactivated it in lintian git for the time being.

Yes .. but .. Josh states:

 /etc/init.d/skeleton is wrong; only sysvinit's own internal scripts
 should use vars.sh directly. Other scripts should source
 /lib/lsb/init-functions and use the log_* functions.

Yes tag was premature and deactivated BUT will it be reenabled if
/etc/init.d/skeleton is fixed? I can take it back in - no problem
- but then i get the mentioned lintian-warning
init.d-script-call-internal-API so what to do here now?

Cheers,

Subject: RFS - policyd-weight/0.1.15.2-6

Hi everybody,
hi Jan,

I've recreated a new version of my package policyd-weight. This version
just adds a patch which fixes problems with policyd-weight on
installations where only IPv6 resolvers (fixed DNS::Net usage).
Furthermore I've added a dependency on libio-socket-inet6-perl.

Changes since the last upload:

policyd-weight (0.1.15.2-6) unstable; urgency=low
  * Updated standards version to 3.9.5
  * debian/control added dependency on libio-socket-inet6-perl

  * Add 09_fix_net_dns_usage.patch which fixes infinite loop when dns resolver
is reachable only via IPv6 (Closes: #726670)

I've updated Standards already to 3.9.5 as PTS is telling me already to do so:

Bug#726670: policyd-weight: broken on system with IPv6-only dns resolver

2013-11-04 Thread Werner Detter
Hi Alexandre,

first of all - thanks for your bug report :) I've checked the described problem,
here are some comments on the issue:

 0. libnet-dns-perl does not install libio-socket-inet6-perl as a dependency.

 This is not really related to policyd-weight, but that took me some time to
 understand that policyd-weight would not work on an IPv6-only setup, even
 bugfree, because of libio-socket-inet6-perl being not installed as dependency
 of libnet-dns-perl.

- libnet-dns-perl depends on libio-socket-inet6-perl in/since testing.

 1. infinite loop (100% cpu used) with default configuration
 ===

 Reproduces step:
  * configure system resolver(s) to be IPv6 addresses,
  * launch policyd-weight with default configuration (with $DEBUG=1 for more
logging),
  * test the dnsbl checks, for example by telneting the port and giving this
data, terminated with an empty line:

 request=smtpd_access_policy
 protocol_state=RCPT
 protocol_name=SMTP
 helo_name=hello.example.com
 client_address=1.3.4.5
 reverse_client_name=hello.example.com
 sender=t...@domain.com

 Observed behaviour:
  * the process never answers, and use 100% CPU per child ;
  * the following logs are shown:

 postfix/policyd-weight[16203]: child: spawned
 postfix/policyd-weight[16203]: cache_query: ask 1.3.4.5  t...@domain.com
 domain.com
 postfix/policyd-weight[16203]: cache_query: ask1.3.4.5t...@domain.com 0 vs
 ask1.3.4.5t...@domain.com
 postfix/policyd-weight[16203]: rbl_lookup: sending: 5.4.3.1.pbl.spamhaus.org,
 62308
 postfix/policyd-weight[16203]: warning: child: err: send: Cannot determine
 peer address at /usr/sbin/policyd-weight line 3551#012
 postfix/policyd-weight[16203]: warning: rbl_lookup: timeout sending:
 5.4.3.1.pbl.spamhaus.org
 postfix/policyd-weight[16203]: rbl_lookup: sending: 5.4.3.1.pbl.spamhaus.org,
 62308
 (last logs repeating... infinite loop...)

 Expected behaviour:
  * the process answers the action to take for this data, or at least fails
with understandable error.

To reproduce this behaviour I've installed a local pdns-recursor listining on
::1 only and
configured the system to use it as dns. Indeed, it runs into an infinite loop:

21:32:19 info: rbl_lookup: sending: 5.4.3.1.pbl.spamhaus.org, 13440
21:32:19 warning: rbl_lookup: timeout sending: 5.4.3.1.pbl.spamhaus.org
21:32:19 info: rbl_lookup: sending: 5.4.3.1.pbl.spamhaus.org, 13440
21:32:19 warning: rbl_lookup: timeout sending: 5.4.3.1.pbl.spamhaus.org
21:32:19 info: rbl_lookup: sending: 5.4.3.1.pbl.spamhaus.org, 13440
...

So, I can confirm your reported behaviour.

 2. with $USE_NET_DNS = 1; in conf: resolves fail each time.
 ===

 The aim of setting this option was to avoid passing through the code that did
 infinite loop.

 Reproduces step:
  * configure system resolver(s) to be IPv6 addresses,
  * launch policyd-weight with $DEBUG=1 and $USE_NET_DNS=1
  * test the dnsbl checks, for example by telneting the port and giving this
data, terminated with an empty line:

 request=smtpd_access_policy
 protocol_state=RCPT
 protocol_name=SMTP
 helo_name=hello.example.com
 client_address=1.3.4.5
 reverse_client_name=hello.example.com
 sender=t...@domain.com

 Observed behaviour:
  * the process answers:
 action=PREPEND X-policyd-weight: passed - too many local DNS-errors in
 bl.spamcop.net lookups
  * the following logs are shown:
 postfix/policyd-weight[16644]: child: spawned
 postfix/policyd-weight[16644]: cache_query: ask 1.3.4.5  t...@domain.com
 domain.com
 postfix/policyd-weight[16644]: cache_query: ask1.3.4.5t...@domain.com 0 vs
 ask1.3.4.5t...@domain.com
 postfix/policyd-weight[16644]: decided action=PREPEND X-policyd-weight:
 passed - too many local DNS-errors in bl.spamcop.net lookups; instance=
 client=[1.3.4.5] helo=hello.example.com from=t...@domain.com to=;
 delay: 0s

This behaviour is also up to the usage of the $res-force_v4(1) call.

I've created a little patch to fix the mentioned problems due to the usage of
NET::DNS and
force_v4() and uploaded the package on mentors[1]. Could you please install the
package and
test if the problem is persists? Furthermore I've added libio-socket-inet6-perl
to the
recommends of policyd-weight.

To make things easy I've uploaded the new .deb to my webserver:
wget http://www.werner-detter.de/policyd-weight_0.1.15.2-6_all.deb

Thank you,
Werner Detter

Bug#726670: broken on system with IPv6-only dns resolver

2013-10-21 Thread Werner Detter
Hi Alexandre,

thanks for your bug report.

I haven't verified your complete bug report yet.

It seems like that this problems occurs due to the fact, that your local
installation is v6 only
and the configured DNSBLs do not offer IPv6-lookups nor are they reachable via
v6 - therefor you
run into the mentioned problems.

Best,
Werner Detter

Bug#712642: Feature Requests

2013-09-01 Thread Werner Detter
Hi,

 I will not the behaviour here because this is implemented as default,
 therefor this is also the default behaviour in
 other distributions. Users, using the debian package might be confused
 then.

 Could you ask upstream?

I see no need for this adjustment as spoken - you can by the way easily ask
upstream by yourself.

Werner Detter

Bug#712642: Feature Requests

2013-06-18 Thread Werner Detter
Hi,

We've updated the package but the new one is only in testing and unstable yet
and is not available in stable (wheezy).
Does your report refer to mytop packages 1.6-6 in stable?

 F - unFilter the dispaly
 S - change slow quiery hightlighting

That's right, i will fix that in the next version of the package.

 i - toggle the display of idle (sleeping) threads
Could idle threads be hidden by default? They're not that interesting.

I will not the behaviour here because this is implemented as default, therefor
this is also the default behaviour in
other distributions. Users, using the debian package might be confused then.

 load 1.07 1.05 1.04 3/337 1785 up 3+17:15:25 [06:07:56]
Having this in the absolute top right looks wrong on a very wide monitor,
could you move it to the left?

This is also the normal behavior since mytop exists - and it's not in the
context of mysql but the system itself.
So the positioning on the right absolutely makes sense. I will not change that.

 Does an option exist to hide user, host and DB columns to make more room for
 the query column?
No, provide a patch for it :)

 Queries: 38.9Mqps:  127 Slow:   16.7k Se/In/Up/De(%): 33/42/09/00
 Sorts:83 qps now:  160 Slow qps: 0.0  Threads:   11 (   1/  13)
 28/57/04/00

That's right, i will fix that in the next version of the package.

Thanks for your report.

Bye,
Werner

Hi Ralf,

you've created this reported in 2009, i've taken over maintenance of the

in debian shortly and recreated the package based on version 1.9 which will hit
testing
shortly. You can change the update interval with the 's' option and you can
pause the
output with 'p', fyi.

Bug#575907: closed by Werner Detter wer...@aloah-from-hell.de (mytop: Don't show Delayed threads when sleeping threads aren't shown)

2013-05-18 Thread Werner Detter
Hi,

 Therefor a delayed thread is not considered a sleeping because a
 delayed insert handler is literally not sleeping.

 I don't agree. A normal sleeping thread is waiting for a new connection
 or a new query. A delayed insert thread is likewise waiting for a new
 query / data to insert. So IMO the two are equivalent.

I don't agree here as mentioned - a delayed insert thread is something
different than a sleeping
thread because a delayed insert thread is an active thread which is waiting for
a connection to
add rows to the queue in comparison to a real sleeping thread which is just
doing nothing/waiting
for a incoming connection or query.

If you want a new switch for hiding delayed insert threads provide a patch for
the latest version
of mytop in debian (1.9.1-1 will hit unstable shortly).

Cheers,
Werner

Bug#575907: closed by Werner Detter wer...@aloah-from-hell.de (mytop: Don't show Delayed threads when sleeping threads aren't shown)

2013-05-18 Thread Werner Detter
 Why do you consider one kind of waiting to be 'active' and the other
 kind of waiting to be doing nothing?

Because the delayed insert thread is a thread that received instructions to
insert data into
the database - that means there was an application/whatever fired up an insert
statement but
the thread which received the statement itself couldn't apply it to the
database yet. A
sleeping thread just received nothing.

Dear Maintainer,

The current mytop package is pretty old and the package was set to O

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:
dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/m/mytop/mytop_1.9.1-1.dsc

Changes since the last upload:
  * New upstream release (Closes: #590505)

Hi Niels,

 You are missing a (B)CC to cont...@bugs.debian.org for that to work.
 Alternatively you can use the Control pseudo header (as I did above)
 without needing the (B)CC cont...@bugs.debian.org.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm kind of interested in taking over this packages as long as we can create
the package from
scratch with the latest version available 1.9.1 which has been released in
February 2012.
It just makes no sense to take care about the current version available in
Debian but instead
repackage the whole thing? I currently don't have that much time but as soon as
the mytop has
been repackaged I don't expect much work on the package.

I've just recreated a policyd-weight package (0.1.15.2-5). The new package will
shortly enter
unstable as it has been accepted already.It includes a new quilt-patch which
removes the DNSBL
dnsbl.njabl.org from policyd-weight due to service shutdown of the list on
2013-03-01. More
information is found on the Homepage of the DNSBL (http://www.njabl.org).

As we had some problems with false positive responses after DNSBL's have been
shut down in
the past, I'd suggest unblocking this package to get it into wheezy.

 policyd-weight (0.1.15.2-5) unstable; urgency=high

   * Add 08_del_dnsbl.njabl.org.patch which removes dnsbl.njabl.org list due
 to service shutdown on 2013-03-01 (Closes: #702838)
   * Bumped standard versions to 3.9.4

Thank you,

Dear Maintainers,

recently Adam D. Barret uploaded my latest package policyd-weight 0.1.15.2-5
to unstable. I've requested to unblock this package to get it into wheezy,
the request has been accepted.

I suggest to add the patch which removes the DNSBL dnsbl.njabl.org from the
policyd-weight
source due to service shutdown of the list on 2013-03-01 also to the stable
package as we
had some problems with false positive responses after DNSBL's have been shut
down in the past.
The DNSBL dnsbl.njabl.org shouldn't be an issue from that perspective as
they've emptied the zones
rather than returning a match for all lookups but it's better to have a clean
package and
be sure that the debian package won't have any problems regardless of what
happens to the
mentioned DNSBL.

Therefor I've recreated the package from stable with the mentioned patch
applied.

been uploaded to

Hi Arno,

thanks for your reply.

 The RT does not feel very comfortable to push standards at this
 stage. But given there are no real changes, they may generously
 ignore that while reviewing your debdiff.

Yes, there are no real changes - I hope they ignore the update of the
standard versions.

 btw. there is a typo in your changelog and you may want to close

Thanks for the hint. Recreated the package and uploaded to mentors.

Hi Adam,

just a short question - what about the policyd-weight package in

 You're right. Seems like I really need some more coffee :) Thank you. I've
 downloaded the current source package again and added my patches from
 scratch. I hope it's OK now :)

 That looks fine; thanks. Please feel free to go ahead with the upload,
 bearing in mind that the acceptance window for the next point release
 closes over the weekend.

 For the record, this was uploaded and I've flagged it for acceptance in
 to p-u; thanks.

Bug#688266: pu: package policyd-weight/0.1.15.1-2+squeeze1

2012-09-20 Thread Werner Detter
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

The policyd-weight package in stable should be updated as it still uses a
non functional DNSBL. Furthermore the DNSBL's from rfc-ignorant.org will
be shut down on 2012-11-30 (the announcement from the lists operator can
be found here: http://rfc-ignorant.org/endofanera.php)

To prevent false positives with those DNSBL's I'd like to update the stable
package. I've backported two patches from the policyd-weight package in
in unstable/testing:

03_del_non_func_ipv6_dnsbl.dpatch
04_del_rfc-ignorant.org.patch.dpatch

Thanks,
Werner Detter

Bug#688266: pu: package policyd-weight/0.1.15.1-2+squeeze1

2012-09-20 Thread Werner Detter
Hi,

 That looks a little odd. Those changes should be included in the
 debdiff. If you unpack the new .dsc, does the result include the
 patches?

Just discovered a Typo in the naming of the patches. Fixed that and rebuilded
the package again,
here's the actual debdiff.

Thanks,
Werner

Bug#681115: powerdns-server: unexisting parameter 'bind-config'

2012-07-10 Thread Werner Detter
Package: powerdns-server
Version: pdns
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Dear Maintainer,

after installing the latest package in wheezy, i do receive the following
message in
daemon.log and pdns doesn't start. Just FYI:

Jul 10 20:10:02 ns pdns[29715]: Guardian is launching an instance
Jul 10 20:10:02 ns pdns[29715]: Reading random entropy from '/dev/urandom'
Jul 10 20:10:02 ns pdns[29715]: This is module gmysqlbackend.so reporting
Jul 10 20:10:02 ns pdns[29715]: This is a guarded instance of pdns
Jul 10 20:10:02 ns pdns[29715]: Fatal error: Trying to set unexisting parameter
'bind-config'
Jul 10 20:10:03 ns pdns[29487]: Our pdns instance exited with code 1

I disabled the bind backend as i use MySQL as backend.

Cheers
Werner

2012-05-04 Thread Werner Detter
Package: amavisd-new

Dear Maintainer,

after the latest upgrade the cronjob /etc/cron.d/amavisd-new generates the
following
warning:

/etc/cron.daily/amavisd-new:

So something is weired - if I do execute the cronjobs directly as user amavis,
there
is no error or warning:

I only get a warning if this the cronjob is triggered via crond

Bug#671450: amavisd-new: /etc/cron.d/amavisd-new please run this cronjob as user amavis

2012-05-04 Thread Werner Detter
Hi Alex,

 Are you sure there is no old /etc/cron.daily/amavisd-new left?

Just checked - /etc/cron.daily/amavisd-new still persists, I've deleted the
file manually
now. Shoudn't the latest amavisd-new package/update taking care of removing the
file?

thanks,
Werner
