Bug#643332: [graphviz] tred removes empty labels

2011-09-27 Thread Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra

Package: graphviz
Version: 2.26.3-7
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

The documentation of 'tred' states that

Nodes and subgraphs are not otherwise affected.

But if I input this graph

digraph G {
a  [label=];
b  [label= ];
}

tred outputs

digraph G {
a;
b[label= ];
}

Note that the empty label of node 'a' is now removed. This has the nasty
effect that this node is now suddenly implicitly labelled 'a' instead of
the intended blank.

With kind regards,

Wouter

Bug#571790: top: unknown argument 'K'

2010-02-27 Thread Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra
Package: procps
Version: 1:3.2.8-7
Severity: normal

Executing top without command-line arguments works fine. Pressing 'u' in top
and

entering 'wouter' shows only wouter's processes. However, running

top -u wouter

gives me

top: unknown argument 'K'

usage:  top -hv | -bcisSH -d delay -n iterations [-u user | -U user] -p pid

This happens for any string in place of the (valid) user name above. Also

top -u

prints

top: -u missing name

Strange!

Bug#516318: mathtools: prevent linebreak in \coloneqq (:=) et al.

2009-02-20 Thread Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra
Package: texlive-math-extra
Version: 2007.dfsg.16-1
Severity: normal

Currently, \coloneqq is composed of two symbols, a colon and an equals sign.
Latex allows linebreaks between them. Semantically, := is
a single symbol that should not be broken.

Bug#513084: gtkpod: MP3 from WAV unplayable on iPod Shuffle

2009-01-26 Thread Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra

Package: gtkpod
Version: 0.99.12-3
Severity: normal

When I use gtkpod to convert my WAV files into MP3, the resulting MP3s
are unplayable on my 2nd generation iPod shuffle.
When I convert an OGG file to MP3 using gtkpod, the resulting MP3 is
played fine.
When I run lame --preset standard ...wav ...mp3 myself, and then move
the resulting MP3 to the iPod using gtkpod, the MP3
will also play fine. I suspect that one of the options that gtkpod
passes to lame (via
/usr/share/gtkpod/scripts/convert-2mp3.sh) is at fault, but I'm not an
expert at those.

Wouter

Severity: normal

When starting a hedgewars simple game, the game briefly shows, but then quits
with the error message in the subject. There is a file
called Jump1.ogg, but it is located in the subdirectory Default of voices.

Could it be that the data files are out of sync with the application?

Bug#503690: texlive-math-extra: Nested Paired Delimiters using mathtools do not work

2008-10-27 Thread Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra

Package: texlive-math-extra
Version: 2007.dfsg.7-1
Severity: normal

Nested paired delimiters do not work properly. The closing outer
delimiter is the same size as the inner

delimiters, while it should be the same size as the opening outer delimiter.
Here is a minimal example:

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{mathtools}

\DeclarePairedDelimiter\set{\lbrace}{\rbrace}

\begin{document}
\[
\set[\big]{\set[\bigg]{}}
\]
\end{document}

This is a known and solved problem with the mathtools package, see e.g.
http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Comp/comp.text.tex/2007-05/msg01281.html.
A fix is included in the latest mh package on CTAN.

With kind regards,

Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra

Bug#493494: graphviz: tred removes all edges

2008-08-03 Thread Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra

Thanks! I think the tred program is quite useful.

Strange thing is that it used to work before. I can't recall which
version, I used it a lot about a year ago.

Hi, hanks for the report, I didn't even run this program before. It
looks like no similar report is open on upstream's bugtracker, I'll
forward your report to them in a few minutes.

This bug has also been reported by Ubuntu users. As far as I can
tell it is a bug in xcb. Could you tell me what version of
libxcb1 you have installed? If possible could you try updating to
version 1.1-1 and see if the bug still occurs?

Thanks,

this does not seem to be a problem. Then it says

Downloading...

After that, it often displays the list. Sometimes, however, it crashes with

python: ../../src/xcb_lock.c:33: _XCBUnlockDisplay: Assertion
`xcb_get_request_sent(dpy-xcb-connection) == dpy-request' failed.
/usr/bin/tunapie: line 2:  9751 Aborted python

This happens roughly once every 6 times I start tunapie, regardless of
whether the .tunapie directory exists. Note that it is a different
assertion that fails, my initial report was about line 77 of the same file.

Hope that helps,

Wouter

Dear James,

On my laptop I do use nvidia's binary drivers. However, on my desktop I
have a Matrox G550, and use the open-source X drivers:

ii  xserver-xorg-video-mga   1:1.9.100.dfsg.1-1

There are two separate assertion failed errors:

/usr/bin/tunapie: line 2: 14883 Aborted python

and

`xcb_get_request_sent(dpy-xcb-connection) == dpy-request' failed.
/usr/bin/tunapie: line 2: 14949 Aborted python

Both occur right when downloading finishes, and only during some
startups of tunapie. Could these be multithreading related?

Yes. this is due to my sloppy programming, but is not an issue with
the functionality of the program. It is a warning but can be safely
ignored. I will have to fix it in the next release.

After that, it often displays the list. Sometimes, however, it crashes with

python: ../../src/xcb_lock.c:33: _XCBUnlockDisplay: Assertion

The trouble is, this is nothing to do with tunapie. It is either a bug
in python, or a bug in xcb.. google seems to suggest the latter (I
think it also affects java programs). There is some suggestion there
is a conflict with binary gfx drivers. Are you using 3D accelerated
nvidia or ati drivers? If so, which version? Have you tried to
reproduce with the GPL gfx drivers (i.e. nv)?

Downgrading xorg should solve the problem.. it would also be worth
filing a bug with libxcb in my opinion.

James

Aha, this has to do with bug #441927: accton complains if no args. The
accton man page is out of sync with the program.

Thus the solution is to change /sbin/bootchartd, replacing accton by
accton off.

Bug#418795: gcc-4.1: profiling (-pg) FPU bound application using -funsafe-math-optimizations yields incorrect timing

2007-04-11 Thread Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra
Package: gcc-4.1
Version: 4.1.1-21
Severity: normal

I am profiling an application that performs a lot of log2(.) operations. I
wanted to use
-funsafe-math-optimizations to have log2 executed by the FPU directly, instead
of using
a function call to the c library. Strangely enough, although wall-clock time
and CPU time
go down, the number of seconds that gprof reports now roughly quadruples,
exceeding the
total CPU time by a factor of two.

The attached c++ file reproduces the problem. I get

** run without -funsafe-math-optimizations **
g++ -pg test.cpp  time ./a.out  gprof ./a.out
8.01531e+09

real0m42.432s
user0m42.143s
sys 0m0.148s
Flat profile:

100.00 13.1113.11 main
  0.00 13.11 0.001 0.00 0.00  global constructors keyed
to main
  0.00 13.11 0.001 0.00 0.00
__static_initialization_and_destruction_0(int, int)

** run with -funsafe-math-optimizations **
g++ -funsafe-math-optimizations -pg test.cpp  time ./a.out  gprof ./a.out
8.01531e+09

real0m30.165s
user0m29.898s
sys 0m0.060s
Flat profile:

Each sample counts as 0.01 seconds.
  %   cumulative   self  self total
 time seconds secondscalls Ts/call Ts/call name
100.00 74.8774.87 main
  0.00 74.87 0.001 0.00 0.00  global constructors keyed
to main
  0.00 74.87 0.001 0.00 0.00
__static_initialization_and_destruction_0(int, int)

Notice that when enabling -funsafe-math-optimizations
- wall clock time goes down from 43 to 31 sec.
- gprof time goes up from 14 to 75 sec.
- it is strange that
 * without -funsafe-math-optimizations the gprof time (14 sec) is much lower
than wall clock time (43 sec)
 * with-funsafe-math-optimizations the gprof time (75 sec) is much higher
than wall clock time (31 sec)

the first (*) can be explained by samples that occur in the log2 system call.
the second (*) can not be correct. I suspect that the instrumentation code that
gcc inserts into the
compiled program expects the FPU to be in a specific IEEE/ansi state, which it
is not when the
-funsafe-math-optimizations flag is used.

With kind regards,

Wouter Koolen-Wijkstra
