Bug#905928: RFS: phoronix-test-suite/8.0.1-2 [ITP]

2018-08-11 Thread Zebulon McCorkle
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "phoronix-test-suite"

* Package name: phoronix-test-suite
  Version : 8.0.1-2
  Upstream Author : Phoronix
* URL : https://phoronix-test-suite.com
* License : GPL-3+
  Section : utils

It builds those binary packages:

phoronix-test-suite - Benchmarking and system testing framework

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/phoronix-test-suite

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/phoronix-test-suite/phoronix-test-suite_8.0.1-2.dsc

More information about hello can be obtained from
https://phoronix-test-suite.com.

Due to it downloading tests from OpenBenchmark.org, I think this belongs
in contrib.

This is a new package, and would therefore need to pass the NEW queue. I
plan on using this package to benchmark an assortment of systems, and
prefer installing with a Debian package to running a shell script any
day.

This package was removed between wheezy and jessie, and much time has
passed since then, so I completely repackaged it for the latest version.
A new version will be released soon ("Milestone 1" of 8.2.0 was released
21 days ago), so I will need an update upload sponsored then as well
(and far into the future, at least until I'm a DM; I plan on ensuring
this package doesn't get removed again).

Apologies for already bumping this to -2, I had forgotten to change the
release from UNRELEASED to unstable in the changelog, so I released -2
to fix that.

Regards,

2018-08-11 Thread Zebulon McCorkle

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: phoronix-test-suite
  Version: 8.0.1
  Upstream author: Phoronix
* URL: https://phoronix-test-suite.org
  License: GPL-3+
Description: Benchmarking and system testing framework

The Phoronix Test Suite is the most comprehensive testing and benchmarking
platform available that provides an extensible framework for which new tests
can be easily added. The software is designed to effectively carry out both
qualitative and quantitative benchmarks in a clean, reproducible, and
easy-to-use manner. The Phoronix Test Suite can be used for simply comparing
your computer's performance with your friends and colleagues or can be used
within your organization for internal quality assurance purposes, hardware
validation, and continuous integration / performance management.

This package was removed between wheezy and jessie. I have completely
repackaged it. I am not a DD, so I will need a sponsor for this package.

I'd suggest "releasing" a 1.0 before packaging. Also, you will need to
select a license. For something small and relatively simple like this,
I'd typically use CC0, but you're free to choose any (DFSG-compliant!)
license you want of course.

Once you have finished packaging, upload your source package to Mentors
[1] and submit an RFS [2]. I have a feeling you're not going to have too
much trouble finding a sponsor (this is one of the most thought out ITPs
I've seen).

Bug#900044: peruse: Failed to load the component from disk: QtQuick.Dialogs is not installed

2018-05-24 Thread Zebulon McCorkle
Package: peruse
Version: 1.2+dfsg-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I installed peruse on buster with `apt install peruse`, and on my first attempt
to run it I am greeted with a fantastic:

Failed to load the component from disk. Reported error was:
"file:///usr/share/peruse/qml/Main.qml:24 module \"QtQuick.Dialogs\" is not
installed\n"

To try to fix this error messages and the similar ones that follow when this
one is fixed, I installed the following packages:

 - qml-module-qtquick-dialogs
 - qml-module-qtquick-layouts
 - qml-module-qtquick-controls

Then, I got to the error message described in #898958 (peruse: does not start).
I was unable to install qml-module-org-kde-kirigami from apt (since it is not
in buster), but I downloaded/installed the stretch deb (as described in that
issue). Alas, more issues!

Failed to load the component from disk. Reported error was:
"file:///usr/share/peruse/qml/Main.qml:26 Type PeruseMain
unavailable\nfile:///usr/share/peruse/qml/PeruseMain.qml:256 Type Settings
unavailable\nfile:///usr/share/peruse/qml/Settings.qml:161 Type FileDialog
unavailable\nfile:///usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/qml/QtQuick/Dialogs/DefaultFileDialog.qml:48
 module \"Qt.labs.settings\" is not installed\n"

So, I installed qml-module-qt-labs-settings... and it finally started!

It looks like a few dependencies need to be added... (and kirigami needs to be
back in sid/buster?)

Subject: [PATCH] Add nodejs and node-xmlhttprequest as test dependencies

The CI builds were failing because the chroot didn't have nodejs installed,
adding nodejs as a test dependency fixes this issue.

Since there is one binary package for both libjs and node, I figure the libjs
version shouldn't depend on nodejs. Since it's required for testing, I put the
nodejs dependency in test/control.

Fixing this issue brought up another: the Node environment doesn't have a
global XMLHttpRequest, which is required by browser-request. To fix this, I
added node-xmlhttprequest as a test dependency and assigned its XMLHttpRequest
object to `global.XMLHttpRequest`, which sates browser-request.

It looks like this is an issue with node-cloneable-readable, though I don't see
why nextTick wouldn't be a function. Maybe some other package is messing with
it?

So... this was supposed to be on node-debug and I guess I autopilot'd that
header. I've sent a message to control to move it there, but it's taking its
sweet time (or I cast my incantation wrong? Dunno. I said thanks!). Sorry,
node-source-map maintainer(s)! No issues with your package!

Bug#899417: FTBFS on sid

2018-05-23 Thread Zebulon McCorkle
Package: node-source-map
Version: 0.7.0+dfsg.really.0.6.1-1

The following error occurs when built from source on sid:

uglifyjs -o dist/debug.min.js --source-map=dist/debug.min.js.map
dist/debug.js
undefined:9483
var generator = new MOZ_SourceMap.SourceMapGenerator({

This seems like a regression due to node-uglify's upgrade to version 2.8,
though I'm not sure why CI isn't showing a FTBFS in buster. A solution appears
to be to add node-source-map to the build dependencies, however in my opinion
it should be added as a dependency on node-uglify.

I've attached a git patch which would fix the issue on this package, though I'm
not sure as applying it here is the best idea. Any thoughts from anyone else?

This might have changed since I last looked into it, but last I checked
the only difference between the OSS project and the MS-distributed
builds is a list of URLs for extension repositor(y|ies), telemetry
server(s), etc. Source builds will likely not have the extension repo or
anything online, unlike Chrome/Chromium where Chromium still has access to
the webstore and Google integration.

See
https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/60#issuecomment-161792005,
though things may have changed since 2015 when that was written.

Meet IBM Plex, our new corporate typeface. It’s global, it’s versatile
and it’s distinctly IBM.

We designed Plex carefully to both meet our needs as a global tech company
and express who we are as people. It took two years and a lot of work to
get here, but today we have a signature typeface we’re proud and excited
to share with the world. Plex is an open-source project (OFL) and free to
download and use. The Plex family comes in a Sans, Serif, Mono and Sans
Condensed, all with roman and true italics. The fonts have been designed
to work well in user interface (UI) environments as well as other mediums.
This project provides all source files and file formats to support most
typographical situations.

I will need a sponsor and will be posting an RFS to the appropriate
package.

Looks like my email client butchered that with line wrapping (probably should
switch to a TUI client
instead of a "smart" GUI client), here it is in one line:

MultiMC is a free, open source launcher for Minecraft. It
allows you to have multiple, cleanly separated instances of
Minecraft (each with their own mods, texture packs, saves, etc)
and helps you manage them and their associated options with a
simple and powerful interface.

About a year ago, I submitted an ITP for MultiMC 0.5.1 (#861615),
but there were a few blocking issues. The main one, copyright,
has been fixed upstream, and I think I've fixed the smaller
ones. I'm submitting a new ITP under a new email which I
intend to use for further Linux-related development. If this
is an issue, I can close this issue and go back to the other
ITP.

Since this is my first package, I will be needing a sponsor.
I'm going to post the package to mentors very soon; it builds
and runs, I just need to do some finishing touches (fix some
lintian issues).

(Again,
why does upstream do this? This one might be a large patch, but I'll
probably pull request it upstream.)

I'm just going to set /opt/multimc to be the installation prefix, as
that seems to be what the .deb downloadable from multimc.org does.
(though that .deb just installs a script which downloads MMC... guess
that's why I'm doing this)

Bug#861615: ITP: multimc -- A free, open source launcher for Minecraft

2017-05-01 Thread Zebulon McCorkle

Here's a list of patches it's looking like I'm going to have to make so far:

 * Disable auto-updater
 * Make the build system install shared libraries to /usr/lib instead
of /usr/bin (Why does upstream do this? Maybe I'm just installing it wrong.)
 * Use `~/.multimc` instead of `/usr/bin` as the data directory (Again,
why does upstream do this? This one might be a large patch, but I'll
probably pull request it upstream.)

As I work through these, I'll probably find more things that need
fixing, but for now that's all that's evident to me.

It allows you to have multiple, separate instances of Minecraft (each

Features:

 * Manage multiple instances of Minecraft at once
 * Start Minecraft with a custom resolution
 * Change Java's runtime options (including memory options)
 * Shows Minecraft's console output in a colour coded window
 * Kill Minecraft easily if it crashes / freezes
 * Custom icons and groups for instances

 * Minecraft world management
 * Import and export Minecraft instances to share them with anyone
 * Supports every version of Minecraft that the vanilla launcher does

This would be my first Debian package, so I will need a sponsor to
upload. I am currently working on getting the package building, should
be done soon.
