Hi Carsten, thank you for your answer.

I don't have an .icedove directory.

I do believe the real cause of this problem is explained in
https://bugs.debian.org/857029 (thunderbird: tries to migrate nonexistent
~/.icedove due to unintended meaning of "\ #" syntax).

Cheers

Bug#857032: thunderbird: Thunderbird 1:45.7.1-2 fails to start

2017-03-07 Thread advocatux
Package: thunderbird
Version: 1:45.7.1-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Developers,

After I installed:

icedove (1:45.7.1-1)
icedove-l10n-es-es (1:45.7.1-1)
thunderbird (1:45.7.1-1)
thunderbird-l10n-es-es (1:45.7.1-1)

I had a successful migration from icedove to thunderbird. After testing
everything was running fine, I deleted .icedove_moved_by_thunderbird_starter

After updating those packages to 1:45.7.1-2 version today, it seems it tries to
migrate once again and, due to there's a .thunderbird directory already it
produces this error:

advocatux@bradstreet:~$ thunderbird --verbose
INFO  -> [[ ... using verbose mode ... ]]
/usr/bin/thunderbird: línea 197: : no se encontró la orden
DEBUG -> There is already a folder or symlink '/home/advocatux/.thunderbird',
will do nothing.
DEBUG -> Please investigate by yourself! Some more information below.

<12>Mar 7 10:59:17 advocatux[4732]: /usr/bin/thunderbird: [profile migration]
/home/advocatux/.icedove is probably a symlink pointing to a non existing
target, at least not to /home/advocatux/.icedove.
DEBUG -> Found folder '/home/advocatux/.thunderbird'
INFO -> An error happened while trying to migrate the old Icedove profile
folder '/home/advocatux/.icedove'.
INFO -> Please take a look into the syslog file!

Now Thunderbird doesn't start.

Kind regards.

Bug#833112: still happens in pyew 2.0-4

2017-02-10 Thread advocatux

Dear Maintainer,

Bug#833112 still happens in pyew 2.0-4 when python-tk is not installed.

Supposedly "TK should only be needed for the GUI commands" [*] but you
get that "loading file: 'pdf'" error running pyew in CLI without
python-tk package installed.

Package: pyew
Version: 2.0-4
Dependencies: python (< 2.8), python (>= 2.7), python:any (>= 2.6.6-7~),
libdistorm64-1

Recommends: python-tk

Hi dear maintainers, I've noticed some things wrong with
qtdeclarative5-kf5declarative (version 5.16.0-1) package in unstable [0]:

* The title is recursive: 'qtdeclarative5-kf5declarative: transitional package
for qtdeclarative5-kf5declarative', when it should say transitional package for
qml-module-serviceframework

* It seems qml-module-serviceframework package doesn't exists.

* If you try to 'safely remove' the package it tries to uninstall other packages

This is clearly not a glibc bug, reassigning the bug to synaptic.

Fine for me. I've just wanted to keep consistency with the bug report in

OK, I've installed strigi-dbg but I don't know the best way to get
useful information related to this bug.

Any suggestion will be welcome.

This is a new Kcrash output after installing strigi-dbg:

Bug#678698: plasma-desktop: Plasma-desktop segfaults when mouse interacts with mp3s downloaded from Jamendo

2012-06-23 Thread advocatux
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:4.8.4-2
Severity: normal

This bug is a funny one. If you download an mp3 from Jamendo to your desktop an
put your mouse pointer over it, plasma-desktop crashes.

I've tried with other mp3s (meaning no-Jamendo's) and it doesn't happen.

In dmesg I can see:

[ 549.886280] plasma-desktop[2753]: segfault at fff4 ip b2407615 sp

I always can reproduce this bug.

Sometimes the screen go black and back to normal after a while, sometimes it
stays black (plasma-desktop completely dead) but I can reboot it with Alt+F2
and typing plasma-desktop

I don't have any trouble opening the same epub with okular for example, I mean,

Bug#489274: FWIW this bug's still present in Testing (Wheezy)

2012-04-05 Thread advocatux
Package: convmv
Version: 1.12-2
Followup-For: Bug #489274

For what it's worth, this bug's still present in current Testing
(future Wheezy).

In spite of the error it seems convmv runs fine but I know it's
confusing for some less experienced users (the kind of person that's
migrating from 'old' windows systems to Debian ones).

Thank you for your work & your time.

Bug#619081: icedove: New email account wizard defaults to imap and determines the directory path

2011-03-20 Thread advocatux
Package: icedove
Version: 3.0.11-1+squeeze1
Severity: wishlist

Dear developer, please consider to introduce a sort of welcome popup in the new
email account wizard with a simple question:
Do you want to configure manually or automagically the new email account?

New email account wizard current behaviour is something like here we go,
there's an imap server and I don't care if you're trying to configure a POP3
account.

Besides, if you try to stop the automagic-searching for email servers or you
hit the manual configuration button, the directory path is set in the imap
directory already.

Of course, you can edit that later and change everything in command line or in
a file manager but that's a PITA.

Regards

Yep, I know I can add "ipv6.disable=1" in /boot/grub/menu.lst but this
method doesn't work always, it depends on which 2.6.30 kernel version
you're running.

Certainly that mockery doesn't fit with Debian community spirit, does
it? and for sure doesn't help to fill bug reports.

People analizing this bug in Ubuntu Bug System
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351656) changed the status from
security vulnerability "no" to "yes", and that's because an initial
machine running other kernel, with IPv4 traffic filtered and IPv6
disabled, after install a 2.6.30 kernel ends with unfiltered ports
listening to IPv6 traffic.

Bye.

Bug#542470: linux-image-2.6.30-1-686: IPv6 can not be disabled

2009-08-19 Thread advocatux
Package: linux-image-2.6.30-1-686
Version: 2.6.30-5
Severity: normal

IPv6 is enabled by default in kernel 2.6.30 and can't be disabled, at least not
in an easy way.

I've tried both echo 1 >/proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6 and sysctl -w
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1 methods without any success.

I think this bug is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351656 in Ubuntu.

In that report someone says there's a fix from upstream and that's already
fixed in 2.6.31 series.

There'd be a possible security risk in this whole thing.

Regards.

That's right, but I've been playing in another testing PC, putting
your new r128 module in
/lib/modules/2.6.30-1-686/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/r128/ (to avoid the
old one) and doesn't work either.

Unfortunatley it doesn't work either (unless I'm doing something wrong).

I'm afraid I'm addressing the 'classic' problem -> insmod: error
inserting 'r128.ko': -1 Invalid module format.

# gcc -v
gcc version 4.3.3 (Debian 4.3.3-14)

# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.30-1-686 (Debian 2.6.30-5) (m...@debian.org) (gcc
version 4.3.3 (Debian 4.3.3-15) )

Any suggestion? Thank you in advance.

In effect, you're right. Installing firmware-linux package solves the problem.

Thank you.

Bug#541630: ATI Rage 128 Pro Ultra TF doesn't start with linux-image-2.6.30-1-686

2009-08-14 Thread advocatux
Package: linux-image-2.6.30-1-686
Version: 2.6.30-5
Severity: important

Hi, after installing linux-image-2.6.30-1-686, Xorg (ATI Rage 128 Pro Ultra TF)
doesn't start, freezing both monitor and keyboard.

(The system is only accessible by remote (ssh), just in case someone with the
same problem wants to reboot or shutdown the system properly).

I don't know which logs or info are the most useful to you to handle this bug,
so don't hesitate to ask.

VLC stops responding when trying to open a directory using the GUI.

That doesn't happen and runs flawlessly when using command line to open a

Bug#524101: kdebase-kio-plugins: kio_slave fish default UTF-8 behaviour produce wrong file names

2009-04-14 Thread advocatux
Package: kdebase-kio-plugins
Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6
Severity: important

This it isn't a new bug but AFAIK it seems nobody had report it in DBTS.

Problem: Using fish kio_slave in Konqueror, in spite of every machine is set to
use UTF-8, and Konqueror is set to use UTF-8
as default charset, fish doesn't honor this and produce wrong file names. F.I.
Héroes instead of Héroes.

Workaround: Before use fish to move files over ssh, go to Konqueror menu:

Tools -> Choose external charset -> UTF-8

Bug#497633: gnash: Filled up .xsession-errors with error messages

2009-04-11 Thread advocatux
Package: gnash
Version: 0.8.4-2

Gnash (version 0.8.4-2) is still dumping a lot of "junk" in ~.xsession-errors.

After visiting some specific URLs it gets worst.

For instance, Gmail.com makes gnash to enter in a loop filling
