Bug#636622: python-xpcom: python modules are not loaded

2011-08-04 Thread arno renevier
Package: python-xpcom
Version: 1:2.0~hg20110502-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,
When trying to use a python module with xulrunner-5.0, I get following
exception when trying to instantiate it:

(NS_ERROR_XPC_CI_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.createInstance] nsresult:
0x80570015 (NS_ERROR_XPC_CI_RETURNED_FAILURE)

Also, a print statement in the python module is not executed; this shows that
the module is not loaded.

After adding manually this line:
binary-component libpyloader.so
to /usr/lib/xulrunner-5.0/components/binary.manifest, python module loads
fine, and everything is correct.

Bug#626780: icewm: xorg crashes when an application sets a really long title

2011-05-15 Thread arno renevier
Package: icewm
Version: 1.3.7-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

When a window sets a really long title, icewm (or xorg, I'm not sure) crashes.
This can be triggered by a webpage by setting a long title/title content
(and it will be set as window title by the browser).
To reproduce,
visit:
http://renevier.net/bugs/icewmcrash.html
with either midori or iceweasel (it probably crashes with other browsers, but
I did not test)
The crash happens when switching to another window.
I reproduce it reliably on my x86_64 box.

I'll attach a copy of startx stderr

Bug#624289: sysvinit-utils: bootlogd fails to start: ioctl TIOCGDEV: invalid argument

2011-04-27 Thread arno renevier
Package: sysvinit-utils
Version: 2.88dsf-13.2
Severity: normal

Hi,
bootlogd fails to start. I investigated with printf-debug, and found that
ioctl(0, TIOCGDEV, kdev) fails and strerror(errno) is: Invalid argument.
Also, when removing the ioctl stuff, consolename is correctly found. Why not
continue into the function even if ioctl fails ?

Bootlogd worked fine until 13rd or 14th or 15th of april. And sysvinit-utils
was not upgraded at that time. So, the bug may come from another package.

Bug#616102: icedove-l10n: locales extensions are not appManaged

2011-03-02 Thread arno renevier
Package: icedove-l10n
Severity: normal

Hi,
After an icedove upgrade, a window:
Checking compatibility of Addons appears. This makes no sense when locales
are managed by apt.

To reproduce:
install icedove, and one or more icedove-l10n-* package. Do not install any
other extension.

update icedove.
Alternatively, to reproduce the behaviour, you can:
rm compatibility.ini file in profile
change extensions.lastAppVersion preference in prefs.js to a previous icedove
version.
launch icedove.
Extension update dialog is displayed.

When adding
em:appManagedtrue/em:appManaged
to install.rdf of the icedove-l10n-* extensions, that window is not displayed
because icedove then knows, all its extensions are managed independently.

Would it be possible to add that line to install.rdf's in icedove-l10n ?
thanks

Bug#606986: gdm: Autologin does not work

2010-12-13 Thread arno renevier
Package: gdm
Version: 2.20.11-4
Severity: normal

Hi,
I've set up auto login on gdm, so I don't have to enter my account/password
every time I open my computer.

here is a part of my gdm.conf file
[daemon]
AutomaticLoginEnable=true
AutomaticLogin=arno

It used to work fine, but a few months ago, it started seeing the login screen
sometimes, about once every two or three reboots. And now, I'm never
autologged.

The bug started about at the same time parallel boot was enabled by default in
debian unstable.

Is there anything I can do to help debug the problem ?

Bug#597846: debi: option to force installation

2010-09-23 Thread arno renevier
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.10.68
Severity: wishlist

Hi,
sometimes for testing purpose, I'd like to install packages with debi even if
all dependencies are not resolved. Then i use dpkg -i --force-depends instead
../package.deb instead of debi because it does not pass --force-* options to
dpkg.
It would be nice to pass some options, or maybe all unknown options to debpkg.

regards,
arno

Bug#589917: schroot: TERM environment variable is not preserved

2010-07-22 Thread arno renevier
Package: schroot
Version: 1.4.7-1

Hi,
schroot(1) manual tells:

default, the environment is not preserved, and the following environment
variables are defined: HOME, LOGNAME, PATH, SHELL,TERM (preserved
 if already defined), and USER.

But TERM variable, even when defined in my host environment is not preserved.
I think it was preserved in previous version, but I don't remember exactly
when.

Bug#574131: xdg-utils: xdg-email never launchs a mua if desktop is not gnome neither kde neither xfce

2010-03-16 Thread arno renevier
Package: xdg-utils
Version: 1.0.2+cvs20100307-1
Severity: normal

hi,
My main desktop environment is icewm, and I didn't find a way to have
xdg-email working: it always ends up opening a webbrowser.

open_generic behaviour does not seem ideal because webbrowsers usually don't
known how to open mailto links, and if a webbrowser calls xdg-email to manage
mailto links, that could result in an endless loop (maybe?)

Also, even when not running gnome or xfce, gvfs-open and exo-open are both
configured on my system, and work correctly. I don't know what's the best way
to have xdg-email work correctly on generic desktops: if bug #353587 is fixed,
that will be easy to implement; otherwise, may be use and parse a custom
environment variable (MUA? MAILER?); otherwise, still try open_gnome, open_kde
and/or open_xfce in generic case.

Bug#574012: xarchiver: fails to open pre-posix tar files

2010-03-15 Thread arno renevier
Package: xarchiver
Version: 1:0.5.2+20090319+dfsg-4
Severity: normal

Hi,
when trying to open tar files which are not in UStar format, xarchiver fails
with following error message:
Archive format is not recognized!

actually, file is recognized as tar file by file.
Also, if I recompile xarchiver and, for testing purpose, return
unconditionally true in isTar function (src/tar.c), xarchiver opens archive
correctly.

I discovered this bug with an archive from uget software source.
To reproduce:

wget
http://freefr.dl.sourceforge.net/project/urlget/Uget%20%28stable%29/1.5.0.2/uget-1.5.0.2.tar.gz
gunzip uget-1.5.0.2.tar.gz
xarchiver uget-1.5.0.2.tar

I copied archive here in case it disappears from given link:

I tried to remove console-setup
I even tried to boot 2.6.26 kernel

Bug#568888: xulrunner-1.9.1: wrong binutils dependency version (build-depends)

2010-02-08 Thread arno renevier
Package: xulrunner-1.9.1
Version: 1.9.1.6-2
Severity: normal

Hi,
xulrunner 1.9.1.6-2 depends on binutils 2.17
but, dh_xulrunner uses readelf -p: that option is not present in binutils
2.17
I don't known when that option has come into debian, but it has appeared in
binutils cvs on Thu Aug 30 13:47:35 2007
http://sourceware.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/src/binutils/readelf.c?rev=1.376content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markupcvsroot=src

Then, xulrunner does not build on oldstable, but build-depends does not
prevent from trying.

Hi,
when using xulrunner-1.9.1 from debian unstable, wifi monitor component is not
available:

This can prevent some firefox/iceweasel extensions from working.

when building my own xulrunner-1.9.1, on a system where iwlib-dev package is
installed, wifi monitor is enabled.

Hi,
there is a new version of xmledit. It fixes a few errors.
http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=301

for example: open a xml file (not xhtml), add a tag and close it with pressing
twice. Tag is then properly formatted, but you get a strange error
message. This is fixed in upstream new version.

Bug#491693: /usr/lib/xulrunner-devel-1.9/sdk/ does not have bin/ directory

2008-07-21 Thread arno renevier
Package: xulrunner-dev
Version: 1.9.0.1-1
Severity: minor

Hi,
xr-1.8 sdk (from libxul-dev package) does have a bin/ directory providing
regxpcom, xpidl, xpt_dump, and xpt_link (/usr/lib/xulrunner/sdk/)

xr-1.9 sdk (from xulrunner-dev package) does not have such a directory.

It would be useful if an application wishes to build against xr-1.8 sdk or
xr-1.9 sdk. It would just have to set a Makefile variable to define sdk path,
and use the tools it finds there.

Bug#491359: devhelp: cannot load http pages (http is not a registered protocol)

2008-07-18 Thread arno renevier
Package: devhelp
Version: 0.19.1-5
Severity: minor

Hi,
we can now browse w3-recs from within devhelp (bug #446876), and it's really
cool.
Some links of w3-recs html files are relatives; some are absolute, and point
to http:// urls. When activating those links, devhelps popups an alert
telling http is not a registered protocol, and link cannot be followed. It's
quite frustrating, especially when we known that devhelp embeds web-browser
libraries. Here is a patch enabling http browsing inside devhelp.

Bug#481975: libwebkitgtk1d: file upload does not work

2008-05-19 Thread arno renevier
Package: libwebkitgtk1d
Version: 0~svn29752-1
Severity: normal

Hi,
file upload does not work with midori (content-length header send to server is
negative, so apache replys with an error page).

I could reproduce the bug with a build from webkit git repository. File upload
did not work neither with midori neither with GtkLauncher, so I opened a bug
in webkit tracker.
As far as I understood, problem came from libcurl being compiled with large
file support, and webkit not. So,

But, I was told file upload works on other distros, so I wonder if it's a
debian bug or not. Also, I was not sure if I should send a bug to webkit or
libcurl, so please reassign if necessary.

Here is the original bug report with the informations I could gather while
trying to understand the issue:

Hi,

For the moment, as a workaround, I have replaced runtime syntax/xml.vim with
doau FileType xml in /usr/share/vim/vim71/syntax/xslt.vim

I'll attach an example .xsl file for testing purpose.

when running mysqlcheck or myisamchk, I don't find an error.

That error report comes from check_for_crashed_tables

when running from command line:
mysql -N -b -p -e 'select concat(select count(*) from ,TABLE_SCHEMA,.,
TABLE_NAME) from information_schema.TABLES where ENGINE=MyISAM' | xargs -i
mysql -N -q -p -e {}

I get numbers reported in the mail (345, 0, 0, 0, 84 etc) on stdin and nothing
on stderr. It looks like check_for_crashed_tables checks to see if there is
anything on stdout or stderr whereas it should check only if there is something
on stderr.

For example, set MANPAGER to most, and type man most

Hi,
it seems debcheckout cannot checkout if Vcs-Cvs is specified with -d *and* if
there is a space between -d and repository target. I don't known if it's a bug
in debcheckout or if it should be reassigned to those packages (I did not
found a formal definition of Vcs-Cvs field), but that could be easily fixed on
debcheckout side by replacing s|^-d|| with s|'-d\s*||

Bug#465141: reprepro: --waitforlock option does not work on amd64

2008-02-10 Thread arno renevier
Package: reprepro
Version: 3.0.1-1~bpo40+1
Severity: normal

Hi,
I'm using backported version of reprepro: 3.0.1-1~bpo40+1 on a amd64
architecture. reprepro --waitforlock does not work: when trying to use that
option, I get following error:

Too large argument for to --waitforlock

Example:

$  reprepro --waitforlock 1
Too large argument for to --waitforlock: '1'

As backport package is based on sid package, I suppose that bug also appears
in reprepro sid package, but I cannot test.
On i386 architecture, that bug does not appear.

As I don't write that report from a computer without reprepro, I don't have
all usual reportbug informations, so feel free to ask more informations if
needed.

Hi,

So, maybe inotify-tools build dependency is not necessary.

Bug#457986: mozilla-plugin-vlc: suppress verbose debug output

2007-12-27 Thread arno renevier
Package: mozilla-plugin-vlc
Severity: wishlist

Hi,
mozilla-plugin-vlc outputs lots of debug informations. So, it is very
difficult to see my own debug messages when working with mozilla applications.
So, it would be nice to output less debugging informations, or make amount of
printed informations customisable.

Bug#458004: vlc: segfault if VLC_VERBOSE = 2

2007-12-27 Thread arno renevier
Package: vlc
Version: 0.8.6.c-4
Severity: normal

Hi,
I noticed a segfault in vlc.

$ export VLC_VERBOSE=2
$ vlc
VLC media player 0.8.6c Janus
zsh: segmentation fault vlc

It seems that function VLC_Create checks VLC_VERBOSE, and then, calls msg_Dbg.
As libvlc.i_verbose has been set to 2, a message will be printed.
In FromLocale function (src/misc/unicode.c), there is a call to

vlc_iconv( from_locale.hd, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL );

But at that moment, LocaleInit has not been called yet, and from_locale.hd is
NULL. Therefore, vlc segfaults.

Bug#457895: xchm won't start

Package: xchm

Severity: important

Hi,
I had not used xchm for a long time. I launched it two days ago, and it worked
fine. I launched it a second time, and it stopped working: it does not start,
does not show a window. But it also does not segfault or end. It just hangs
forever. It has not worked again.
Sometimes, I get those errors in console.

Other times, I don't get errors.
I built xchm from sources. It looks like it hangs in CHMFrame::CHMFrame:
It nevers return from

Bug#455891: add a symlink from /usr/share/zsh/zshcurrent to current version

2007-12-12 Thread arno renevier
Package: zsh

Hi,

current version:
ls -l /usr/share/vim/vimcurrent

I use named directory to have a shortcut to /usr/share/zsh/4.3.4-dev-4, and I
have to modify it at each major version change. So, I think it would be nice
to have a symlink, in a way similar to vim package.

Bug#453346: python2.4: inspect.getabsfile() reports wrong value

2007-11-28 Thread arno renevier
Package: python2.4
Version: 2.4.4-6
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,
inspect.getabsfile() reports wrong values for functions defined in modules in
/usr/lib/python2.4

$ pwd
/home/arno
$ python -c import inspect, urllib2; print inspect.getabsfile(urllib2.urlopen)
/home/arno/urllib2.py

it should be:
/usr/lib/python2.4/urllib2.py

Some people have already noticed that behaviour:
http://bugs.python.org/issue1666807
It's because co_filename in urllib2.pyc does not report an absolute path.

It can be fixed by giving absolute paths to py_compile.py in postinst script.
I'll attach a fix suggestion. It's for python2.4, but I think it should work
also for python2.5 (didn't test though).

ls -1 $f

Bug#452297: -lsbin: outputs error messages if some package files do not exist

Package: dlocate
Version: 0.7
Severity: wishlist

Hi,
at first, thanks for -lsbin option: it's really useful. But I noticed a little
glitch: when one or more files of the package do not exist anymore, dlocate
outputs error message. For example, I have removed
/etc/iceweasel/profile/chrome/userChrome-example.css because I don't want that
file in my default profile. So now I have:

dlocate -lsbin iceweasel
ls: /etc/iceweasel/profile/chrome/userChrome-example.css: No such file or
directory

Is it possible to remove that line ?

Actually, when using dpkg -x on

I can see it contains a /usr/share/perl5/Error.pm file which is similar to

same file, they look like two different versions of the same file).

Bug#450964: boo: typo in long description

2007-11-12 Thread arno renevier
Package: boo
Severity: minor

Hi,
Long description of boo package tells:

The boo compiler and the programs it produces are 100% CIL and can be run on
any compliant CLI virtual machine

I suppose it's a typo, and CIL should be replaced with CLI.
If it's not a typo, it would be nice to explain what CIL means

Bug#446270: grep: -w sometimes does not work

2007-10-11 Thread arno renevier
Package: grep
Version: 2.5.3~dfsg-3
Severity: normal

Hi,
Sometimes, -w option does not work.

I did not succeed in finding what exactly triggers that bug, but it looks like
it happens when multiple files are grepped, and at least one of those files is
big. I've uploaded a file that triggers the bug, and here is a way to reproduce
it (begin in an empty directory):

$ unset GREP_OPTIONS
$ wget http://www.fdn.fr/~arenevier/debian/grep_bug/libnecko.a
$ echo 300  test
$ /bin/grep -w 30 *
Fichier binaire libnecko.a concorde
test:300

grep should not find something in test file.

if I set LANG to C, problem seems to be fixed.

I've tested stable version of grep (2.5.1.ds2-6), and bug is present in that
version.

Bug#440938: ITP: xulrunner-l10n -- language packages for xulrunner

2007-09-05 Thread arno renevier
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: arno renevier [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: xulrunner-l10n
  Version : 1.8.1-1
Upstream Author : Mozilla Project and Mozilla Localization Projects
* URL : http://www.mozilla.org/projects/l10n/
* License : GPL, LGPL, and MPL
Description : language packages for xulrunner

XULRunner is a single gecko runtime that can be used to bootstrap
multiple XUL + XPCOM applications that are as rich as Firefox and
 Thunderbird.
 .
This package provides localizations for xulrunner

Additional informations:
xulrunner-l10n will have similarity with iceweasel-l10n; some part of
xulrunner-l10n source will come from iceweasel-l10n source package, other part
will come from mozilla cvs.

source package will provide 43 localization packages + one meta package
xulrunner-l10n-all which depends on all localization packages.

Unlike iceweasel-l10n, localization packages will not be installed as
extensions, but directly in /usr/share/xulrunner/chrome because current version
of xulrunner does not allow global extensions for all applications. Hopefully,
that will change in the future, and localization packages could be real mozilla
extensions.

Bug#439939: procmail: does not handle mbox with CRLF

2007-08-28 Thread arno renevier
Package: procmail
Version: 3.22-16
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Hi,
formail and procmail do not handle mboxes whose endlines are CRLF
I'll attach a mbox for demonstration purpose:

$ file Sent
Sent: ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators

$ cat Sent| formail -s cat - | file -
/dev/stdin: ASCII mail text, with CRLF, LF line terminators

formail has added a '\n' between the headers and the body.

With
$ cat Sent| formail -s cat -

I notice formail has added '' just before the second From field. But it is
not a bogus From field, it's the real From for second mail. Then mailbox is
totally corrupted.

When I encountered that bug, the real line was:

$ cat Sent| formail -s procmail

So, even with

$ cat Sent| formail -b -s procmail

procmail would have added a '' before the second From field. I did not find a
way to prevent that.
So, when using formail -s procmail, I do no think of a way to prevent ''
addition.

The mbox I attach has been anonymified, but I was created with thunderbird
(thunderbird uses CRLF for Sent mailbox)

About endlines in mbox, man 5 mbox (from mutt package) tells:

An mbox is a text file containing an arbitrary number of e-mail messages.
Each message consists of a postmark, followed by an e-
mail message formatted according to RFC822, RFC2822. The file format is
line-oriented. Lines are separated by line feed characters
 (ASCII 10).

but I did not find reference to that rule in other mbox description I found:
http://qmail.org/qmail-manual-html/man5/mbox.html
By the way, rfc2822 tells:

Messages are divided into lines of characters. A line is a series of
characters that is delimited with the two characters carriage-return
and line-feed; that is, the carriage return (CR) character (ASCII
value 13) followed immediately by the line feed (LF) character (ASCII
value 10). (The carriage-return/line-feed pair is usually written in
 this document as CRLF.)
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2822.html

Anyway, I think procmail should not corrupt mailboxes with CRLF.

Don't hesitate to ask for more informations if needed.
arno.

Bug#437725: xpdf-reader: crashes when closing xpdf in fullscreen

2007-08-13 Thread arno renevier
Package: xpdf-reader
Version: 3.02-1.1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

When xpdf is in normal mode, using close menu (or Ctrl-W) closes current
document, but not xpdf.
In fullscreen mode, with one and only one document open, close menu (or
Ctrl-W) crashes the application.

In XPDFViewer::clear, some widgets belonging to the toolbar are
referenced (pageNumText, pageCountLabel, etc), but have not been
initialized if mode is fullscreen. I think this is the reason of the
crash.

I attach a modification that seems to fix this bug.

Bug#437083: sun-java6-bin: removing package does not properly remove alternatives

2007-08-10 Thread arno renevier
Package: sun-java6-bin
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,
after installing and removing sun-java6-bin, my daily locate cron
reports some erros:

/etc/cron.daily/man-db:
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/pack200.1.gz is a dangling symlink
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/policytool.1.gz is a dangling symlink
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/unpack200.1.gz is a dangling symlink
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/servertool.1.gz is a dangling symlink

In postinst, update-alternatives alternatives are set to executables
located in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin directory

In prerm, path to removed executables is /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/bin
That directory actually contains symlinks to /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin
and alternatives are not removed.

I think replacing

update-alternatives --remove $i $basediralias/bin/$i

with

update-alternatives --remove $i $basediralias/jre/bin/$

in prerm, should fix that.

Bug#433947: after uninstalling, /etc/alternatives/java is a dangling link to /usr/bin/java-sablevm

2007-07-20 Thread arno renevier
Package: sablevm
Severity: normal

Hi,
I have gij installed.

I had installed sablevm, and set /etc/alternatives/java to sablevm (with
update-alternative --config) so, typing java launched /usr/bin/java-sablevm.
But after uninstalling, /etc/alternatives/java still pointed to
/usr/bin/java-sablevm: it had not been properly unregistered

In sablevm.postinst, there is

man=/usr/share/man/man1
update-alternatives \
--install /usr/bin/java java /usr/bin/java-sablevm 350 \
--slave $man/java.1.gz java.1.gz $man/java-sablevm.1.gz

variable $man is set but not exported, and update-alternatives is not on the
same line (there is no slash after $man variable setting), so on next line, $man
references blank line. So, sablevm alternative is not properly registered

Unfortunately:
- there is no error message from update-alternatives
- with update-alternatives --config java, I can manually set
etc/alternatives/java pointing to sablevm, but then symlink for java manual is
not set
- Although I can use, update-alternatives --config, I cannot use
update-alternatives --remove, that's the reason why sablevm alternative is not
properly unset in prerm

It works fine either with:
update-alternatives \
--install /usr/bin/java java /usr/bin/java-sablevm 350 \
--slave /usr/share/man/man1/java.1.gz java.1.gz
/usr/share/man/man1/java-sablevm.1.gz

or

man=/usr/share/man/man1 \
update-alternatives \
--install /usr/bin/java java /usr/bin/java-sablevm 350 \
--slave $man/java.1.gz java.1.gz $man/java-sablevm.1.gz

Bug#433377: planetpenguin-racer: can play all races all levels even if I did not finish precedent races

2007-07-16 Thread arno renevier
Package: planetpenguin-racer
Version: 0.3.1-9
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,
in ppracer, when playing cups, you are supposed to finish first race
before playing second, finish second before playing third and so on.
Also, you are supposed to finish first cup before playing second and so
on.
Therefore, when selecting cups, or when selecting races (inside a cup),
Continue and Race! buttons are inactive. But you can still reach
unplayable cups or races by pressing enter. Access to cups or races are
checked when clicking on buttons, but not when pressing enter.

Actually, in src/ppgltk/widget.cpp, button status is checked in
Widget::mouseDown and Widget::mouseUp (m_sensitive member)
but no checking is done in Widget::simulateMouseClick (which is called
when enter is pressed).

I attach a patch to be used as dpatch.

hope this helps,
arno
