Bug#1070743: glib2.0: Can't type special characters in most applications

2024-05-08 Thread debianuser
Source: glib2.0
Version: 2.80.0-10
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software
X-Debbugs-Cc: ft.alban.hun...@mail.com

After update do 2.80.0-10, I cannot type special (e.g. german umlaut letters)
characters or dead keys in all gtk applications and most applications installed
via flatpak. Electron and qt applications seems not to be affected, as well as
other applications such as weston-terminal. I am unsure if this bug is caused
by glib2.0, but I can't find any other culprit in the list of recently upgraded
packages on unstable

Bug#987891: plasma-desktop: system tray not working

2021-05-01 Thread debianuser
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:5.20.5-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading from stable to testing, the plasma desktop didn't show the
task bar. I deleted the config and could create an empty task bar, but not the
default one. The error appears to be in the system-tray plasmoid (german:
systemabschnitt der kontrollleiste), which does not show up in the list of
installed plasmoids anywhere. Creating a new user, when logging in, the
desktop remains black with only an error message by ksplashqml being
terminated unexpectedly (segmentation fault 11), and without the possibility
to report it, as the application does not provide an address to report the
bug. Right clicking on the desktop allows opening the context menu and adding
e.g. an empty task bar, but again, the system tray is missing from the
applications.

The error seems to comparable to #907301, if this helps you.

Thanks,
Andreas

Bug#873627: udisks2 in sid apparently left me with a borked system in plasma(?)

2017-08-29 Thread debianuser
Package: udisks2
Version: 2.6.5-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Upon an upgrade in sid, my computer gave a message, something like "disk
manager failed" or something like that, and also "see systemctl status
udisks2.service". When trying to boot into KDE Plasma I had no taskbar and
could not open programs with alt+f2 that I was aware of. I appear to have fixed
the problem by downgrading udisks2 to testing, in that I now have a functioning
GUI again.

Bug#800703: Aw: Re: Bug#800703: linux-image-amd64: ath10k not working with Atheros QCA6174 wireless network adapter

2015-10-03 Thread debianuser
Sorry if I used "patch" in the wrong place. I solved the problem by following
the instructions on the linked website, meaning:
Download the content of
https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware/blob/master/ath10k/QCA6174/hw2.1/
and copy both files to
"/lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw2.1/"

Install "libncurses5-dev gcc make git exuberant-ctags"
Download https://github.com/kvalo/ath/archive/master.zip
Extract the content, change to the created directory and run
"cp /boot/config-(YOUR_KERNEL) .config"
which was "config-4.1.0-2-amd64" in my case.
Compile via "make" and "make modules_install install"
Create "/etc/modprobe.d/ath10k.conf" containing "options ath10k_core skip_otp=y"

However, following solution was posted in the arch forums, but I do not know
how to verify if it works:

This kernel patch :
https://github.com/atondwal/linux/commit/22f8a4083883eca3e8a3175315d67d2a04392466
This firmware :
https://github.com/atondwal/ath10k-firmware/tree/master/ath10k/QCA6164/hw2.1

Hope this helps, and let me know about further instructions if necessary.

Bug#800083: libkf5emoticons5: Missing dependency on libkf5emoticons-bin causes crash in KDE systemsettings5

2015-09-26 Thread Debianuser
Package: libkf5emoticons5
Version: 5.14.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

- I use Debian sid in the most recent version.
- I have configured aptitude not to install recommended packages by default.
- due to this configuration, via dependencies, libkf5emoticons5 was installed,
but libkf5emoticons-bin not (only recommended)
- Opening systemsettings5 and accessing Appearance -> Icons -> Emoticons causes
a crash in KDE.
- after manually installing libkf5emoticons-bin, everything works as expected.

-> libkf5emoticons5 should have a "Depends", not a "Recommends" to
libkf5emoticons-bin

Bug#716706: openjdk-7-jre: openjdk-7-jre is actually openJDK 6 update 27

2013-07-11 Thread DebianUser
Package: openjdk-7-jre
Version: openjdk-7-jre
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

It seems that the Debian developers may have accidentally either named the
openjdk-7-jre to 7 rather than 6 or they put the openjdk-6-jre package in the
package that is named with 7. Basically, the openjdk-7-jre package includes the
wrong version of OpenJDK. OpenJDK 6 is rather old and slower compared to 7 and
I need 7 to do some work. Please fix this, thanks!

Bug#575823: vlc: There is no more video output!!!

2010-04-24 Thread debianuser
Hi,

I think this is not a Debian bug: in fact I installed a package from
debian-multimedia.org (avidemux) and a library from it broke the Debian version
of vlc.

Best regards
