Bug#587152: set evince window size

2011-10-11 Thread Donn Morrison
I fixed this by overriding Evince's window size in my window manager. If you're
using compiz, open the configuration tool (ccsm) and go to Window Management
Window Rules then create a new size rule for Evince (Type set to Class; you
can use the window selector to set the Class to Evince by clicking on an open
Evince window). I set mine to 1000x600, and it works nicely. You can see Evince
set it's default size on startup (off-screen, as I also have a dual monitor
setup with differing resolutions), but then the window manager forces the size
rule and sets it to what you want.

I'm having a similar problem upgrading from Samba 3 to 4.

Bug#332548: Acknowledgement (xserver-xorg: 6.8.99.900 breaks radeon dual-head)

2005-10-10 Thread donn morrison
Michel,

Yes, the monitor supports it.

Here is the scenario:

It works fine under 6.8.2 (from Debian unstable). Upon upgrading to
6.8.99.900 (experimental) the configuration is broken. NB: No
configuration files are changed, therefore running apt-get install
xserver-xorg/experimental breaks my setup.

Attached is a diff of my Xorg logs between the working and non-working
versions.

Are you sure the monitor supports 1152x864 at 75 Hz? It doesn't list it
 in its EDID.

Option IgnoreEDID true doesn't seem to change anything. The monitor
still powers down. Just to clarify, X is operating in dual head mode,
since I can move the mouse off my laptop screen onto the dead one...it's
just that the external monitor is not powered on.

Attached is the diff (-u) and the xorg.conf from this test.

Thanks (in the future, please use diff -u old version new version)
for better readability). The only thing that jumps out at me is that
only the new version complains about the pixel clock for some modes
exceeding the EDID maximum. Please try Option IgnoreEDID, you may have
to re-override the sync ranges in the monitor section with that though.

Sorry, reportbug attached the wrong Xorg log (I was testing on
display :1). Here is the correct log.

An additional comment: From the log the external CRT appears to be
detected, however, once X is started in dual-head mode the monitor
reports no signal.

Bug#332548: Acknowledgement (xserver-xorg: 6.8.99.900 breaks radeon dual-head)

Note that my graphics adaptor is actually a Mobility 9000, not a 9200 as
I had originally stated.

  Frank,

I tried installing tetex-extra (it wasn't installed), but that didn't
  help the problem.

The problem all started when I started an apt-get dist-upgrade.
Normally I just use apt-get upgrade, but some packages weren't being
upgraded due to dependencies, I guess.

You are aware that you have the experimental distribution in your
sources.list, and that this tetex version is from experimental?

I am aware.

I am astonished that after installing tetex-extra it still does not
work. Can you please send us the output of the following commands:

 dpkg -l tetex-base tetex-bin tetex-extra

# dpkg -l tetex-base tetex-bin tetex-extra

 kpsewhich ebcdic.ocp

# kpsewhich ebcdic.ocp
/usr/share/texmf/omega/ocp/ebcdic.ocp

^^^ Keep in mind I manually placed this file here after I realised it
was missing.

and after that try again to configure it, using

 dpkg --configure -a

# dpkg --configure -a
#

No output.

(or, if nothing should happen, dpkg-reconfigure tetex-bin)

# dpkg-reconfigure tetex-bin
Merging information from /etc/texmf/texmf.d/

mode of `/var/cache/fonts/ls-R' changed to 0664 (rw-rw-r--)

Obviously something was changed when I manually copied ebcdic.ocp into
/usr/share/texmf/omega/ocp/ and then installed tetex-bin. Now even when
I remove tetex-bin and tetex-extra and delete ebcdic.ocp
from /usr/share/texmf/omega/ocp/ there is no problem re-installing the
tetex-bin package.

 Thank you in advance,
 Frank

Bug#298315: Suggestion for: tetex-bin fails to install

2005-03-06 Thread donn morrison
ebcdic.ocp appears to be missing from /usr/share/texmf/omega/ocp

I located a copy of this file on the web and placed it in the above directory.
The tetex-bin package subsequently installed and was set up successfully.

System information missing from my original message is:

Debian GNU/Linux 3.1
Kernel 2.6.10
APT::Default-Release experimental;

Thanks,
Donn
