Bug#794743: New version of ttfautohint packaging

2015-10-08 Thread gurkan

Hi Vasudev

There is new version of ttfautohint available. Do you plan to package
it

any time soon?. More of the fonts are using new version of ttfautohint
and since we are building fonts from source we need to have newer
version of ttfautohint in archive.

I have some updated versions here http://sid.ethz.ch/debian/ttfautohint/
However it doesn't look I'm going to find time to get that sponsored
somehow

soon or at the moment.

As of now lohit fonts for Indian languages maintained in Debian-IN
needs

ttfautohint.

I saw that though team maintained ttfautohint is not using team Vcs,
infact there is no package Vcs. Is it okay with you to use Git vcs of
pkg-fonts? If you are fine I can import current version in archive into
a Git repository.

Please go ahead with whatever helps you to get the updated versions
where you need

it, that's why it's team maintained after all.

Please let us know of your thoughts.

Cheers,

Hello Claudio

Thank you very much. I will try it out and report my results.

you

3 Somehow notify the user (I think I talked to Karel about this problem,

Bug#299324: Any updates on this bug?

Well yes, the emacs.app has been merged into the official gnu emacs cvs and
can be built from there. I'm following these snapshots:
http://emacs.orebokech.com/pool/main/e/emacs-snapshot/

I can build that fine and it works for me. However I'm not done with a

Why do you ask? You want to help? I will need a sponsor for this...

Bug#512638: [Fwd: Re: [Open Font Library] jura light font]

2009-01-27 Thread Gurkan Sengun

Hi Daniel,

I see in the subject line of the Debian bug for Jura
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=512638) that it is
listed as a monospace font; but this is not the case. It's a
variable-width sans font originally inspired by some monospace glyphs.

I know, I noticed, and there's a fixed 0.2 version at
http://sid.ethz.ch/debian/ttf-jura/ but it'll need to be uploaded
once 0.1 is through NEW queue according to my sponsor.

The most recent version of Jura available on openfontlibrary.org
clarifies the licensing issues. After some discussion with Steve
White (maintainer of FreeFont) and Karl Berry, I've decided that the
Kayah Li glyph range is licensed GPLv3 (since these glyphs were lifted
from work I did for FreeMono) and the remainder is licensed under the
OFL. I hope this doesn't turn out to be too confusing for the Debian
community guidelines. If so, I could give up and dual-license the
whole thing.

I think I got that now. Would you mind calling your files something like
jura-3.0.tar.gz you miss out version numbers and the tar extension.

The latest version on openfontlibrary.org includes Latin-1, Latin-2,
and Cyrillic glyphs. I'll probably add some more accented characters
in the future, and I may introduce a Greek range. Any other glyphs I
add to the font will probably be on an as-requested basis.

Do you plan to have italic and bold/extra bold?

Regards,
Guerkan

Bug#390047: dillo: new upstream version (0.8.6) available

2006-10-04 Thread Gurkan Sengun

So I don't think there is any problem to package it.

Go ahead. I've tried the same week when it was released.
There's a problem with FLTK. dillo uses other case/paths and
incompatible versions. I didn't bother finding out if the dillo
used fltk is newer or older than the debian fltk. as you can see
mikop found out.

I will not stop you from upgrading the package if it's no
problem for you. it was a problem for me.

besides, it's using fltk, no matter what you quoted.

guerkan

Bug#387041: the color selection is not quite optimal

2006-09-11 Thread Gurkan Sengun

Package: www.debian.org
Severity: normal

let's summarize what colors we have:
debian logo and top menu bar: rosa/magenta thing
server select: brown
menu left: light blue
top horizontal menu: dark pure blue
top horiz. menu on mouse over: pure blue
html links: pure blue
html visited links: "violet"
ugh and the menu/link colors get worse when you move the mouse over
them...

(but then trying to make it different using debian.css, it's not THAT
easy)

maybe people can make different examples and then let a majority
have decide if a change is needed.

here are some useful links

- Bottom clickable buttons are not aligned to the other gui elements

AFAICS this is not forbidden by the policy so if that's your wish, I
don't mind.

i don't find grr a pretty good name, but if upstream wishes so,
so be it. i'd keep the existing name, but i'll leave this up to you,
i'd like to maintain rssreader, and you do rsskit... but try to do it
you...

please go ahead, add yourself to uploaders: and be a co-maintainer,
i can need any help i can get, there's alot to do.

Thank you very much for your trust, but I'm not so confident in my
skills. I will try to do my best and let's hope that I won't spoil
the package.

i'll help where i can, hubert says:
"Sounds good. If he wants to look at how to package frameworks, you
can tell

him to look at the packaging of pantomime1.2, or popplerkit.framework."

please can you package rsskit? and if it's the same sourcetarball,
generate both packages!

Yes, RSSKit is in the upstream tarball, so we have to generate two
binary packages. It'll be used by PlopFolio as well.

ah good, thank you!

if it's in the uberlarge etoile tree, let me give you some work/url
i did: http://io.debian.net/~tar/debian/etoile/ ... the checkout
should be updated and also dictionaryreader.app be built

It is seperate from Etoile, I think, but thanks for the link.

i'll do etoile/dictionaryreader asap as gnustep is available in sid..

i'll be busy with updating all the packages
and improving them, including some new itp's and emacs.app

Great, I know about your new ITPs, but I suggest not to put any effort
on emacs.app. I hardly recall the discussion on emacs-devel@gnu.org,
but I think that once Emacs 22 is released, the branch that Adrian
Robert is working on will be merged to the trunk and Romain Francoise
will package emacs-snapshot (as he does weekly since more than a
year), providing an alternative for the gnustep flavour. If
everything is going well (fingers crossed), it will be official part
of Emacs 23; that's the intention of RMS as well. I know you've put a
lot of effort in this package, but it was rejected once by the
ftpmasters and is likely to be rejected again if it is done in a
similar way.

the reason it got rejected was only that: it would have used 25 mb x
11 architectures,
i fixed this shortly after, and new emacs.app release was done,
gnustep also
but now i wait for it be updated, and adrian also did great
improvements on io.debian.net:

http://io.debian.net/~tar/debian/emacs/
i will try this again, since it's an important thing! very usable too,
if you want screenshots:

http://io.debian.net/~tar/screenshots/emacs.app.png

Bug#288393: desktop-base: Gnome default splash screen is ugly, and users consider it a "bug"

2006-05-24 Thread Gurkan Sengun

nice idea

but i think the graphics should be software neutral (even without
linux, as debian

is also GNU (Hurd) and GNU/kFreeBSD..).

splashscreen: i think there should never be splashscreens (or they
should be all off

by default)

i've got a suggestion for a background too:

the wmaker debian look is horribly ugly too imho: #286344
