Bug#956401: mariadb-server: --ssl-verify-server-cert fails

2020-04-13 Thread Humberto Flores III

Here is the reason for this behavior: https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-12190

Bug#956401: mariadb-server: --ssl-verify-server-cert fails

2020-04-10 Thread Humberto Flores III

Package: mariadb-server
Version: 10.1.44-0+deb9u1
Severity: normal

When I try to connect to MariaDB 10.1.44 with mariadb-client (Ver 15.1 Distrib
10.3.22-MariaDB) and the --ssl-verify-server-cert option set, I get the
following error message:

ERROR 2026 (HY000): SSL connection error: The certificate is NOT trusted. The
certificate issuer is unknown.

The CN of the server.crt is the hostname and the certificate seem alright:

# openssl verify -CAfile ca.pem server.crt
server.crt: OK

Connecting to MariaDB 10.4 with --ssl-verify-server-cert works fine. It would be
nice if you could help me to understand the issue here.

Bug#224552: Shipping Clerk - flexible time work-at-home opening

2007-09-29 Thread Humberto

Our company is looking for energetic and accountable individuals to occupy
Shipping Clerk positions throughout the USA. These vacancies are entirely
home-based and do not require any travel or relocation. They are also
suitable for students and senior citizens who are able to dedicate up to
three business hours per day to their duties. No special qualifications are
required, although previous shipping or customer service experience is a
plus. We are an international company providing mail/internet order
opportunities for a global clientele since 1997. We are based in Russia, and
also have offices in Latvia and Kazakhstan. Our business provides
online/Online Order facilities for those who are unable to benefit from the
convenience of e-commerce due to lack of a banking relationship with an
internationally recognized bank or because major online vendors will not
ship to their location. We have domestic purchasing agents who place the
orders on behalf of our clients, and the goods are then shipped to the local
shipping clerks for further sorting and international shipment. We also
provide escrow services for high amount and/or web auction orders, and offer
assistance with customs clearance, if required. Currently, we are looking
for individuals to fill in the positions of shipping clerks throughout the
USA. Your duties will include receiving, sorting, repackaging and re-sending
the orders made on behalf of our clients using the pre-paid USPS shipping
labels that you will receive via email. You will be paid $20 for each parcel
that you ship, plus $5 for each order that you will need to re-sort or
re-package. We will also cover any other authorized expense, such as extra
insurance or shipping materials. Your remuneration will be remitted to you
via Western Union twice a month. You can expect to handle 5-15 incoming
packages weekly, following a 2 week probation period. You can perform your
duties from the convenience of your home. You will generally be re-shipping
the orders on same day or next day basis, so you will not need to sacrifice
your home space to storage. You will only be receiving orders placed with
reputable online vendors and delivered by major courier services, such as
FedEx and UPS, who pay great attention to ensuring that they are not
involved into trafficking any illegal substances or hazardous materials.
Thus, there will be no risk on your end. We also encourage you to open and
inspect each package that you receive to ensure the legitimacy and safety of
itsâ content. In order to fill the shipping clerk position, you need to be
aged 18 and above, have a permanent address where you are available on a
regular basis and also have access to phone and email. In order to ensure
that you can be entrusted the client merchandise, we will need to verify
your identity and confirm that you do not have any previous criminal
convictions. To apply for this position and for more information on our
company, please fax your resume and (optionally) cover letter to: (309)
  431-7288.

That is indeed non-free and fails DFSG #6, the package cannot
be in main, but could be in non-free maybe.

No, this is really an additional restriction over the GPL, thus
rendering the software undistributable for everyone but the
original author.

Bug#327081: ITP: rpmstrap -- bootstrap a basic RPM-based syst em

2005-09-13 Thread Humberto Massa Guimarães
There are other things that are copyrightable besides code -- in
particular, usage/error messages (depending on their length
 and number)
are likely to be covered by copyright, and it's pretty
 implausible that
those would be the same between debootstrap and rpmstrap *without*
 direct copying.

Actually, you are wrong. Error messages, *especially* usage messages,
are directly related to the functionality, and do *not* contain enough
creativity to pass the abstraction/filtration/comparison tests.

IMHO, enough evidence was presented that sustains Sam's and Branden's
version that no code was ever copied.

Bug#322534: ITP: mpfi -- multiple precision floating-point in terval computation

2005-08-11 Thread Humberto Massa Guimarães
 * Package name: mpfi
   Version : 1.3.3
Upstream Authors: Nathalie Revol, Fabrice Rouillier (email ommited)
 * URL :
 http://perso.ens-lyon.fr/nathalie.revol/software.html
 * License : LGPL 2.1 or later
Description : multiple precision floating-point interval
   computation

The basic principle of interval arithmetic consists in enclosing
every number by an interval containing it and being representable
by machine numbers: for instance it can be stored as its lower
and upper endpoints and these bounds are machine numbers, or as a
centre and a radius which are machine numbers.
  .
The arithmetic operations are extended for interval operands in
such a way that the exact result of the operation belongs to the
  computed interval.
  .
The purpose of an arbitrary precision interval arithmetic is on
the one hand to get guaranteed results, thanks to interval
computation, and on the other hand to obtain accurate results,
thanks to multiple precision arithmetic. The MPFI library is
built upon MPFR in order to benefit from the correct roundings
provided by MPFR. Further advantages of using MPFR are its
portability and compliance with the IEEE 754 standard for
  floating-point arithmetic.

Yeah, but what does it *DO*? If it is a library, it oughta be called
libmpfi ... and it should be stated. If it is an utility program,
the what is arbitrary precision foo is secondary WRT what the
program actually does.

A fair while ago I consulted debian-legal on the public domain license
and got the polite reply from Glenn Maynard stating that problems
might exist with it not disclaiming warranty.
Further discussion with upstream created this short license:
Netbiff may be redistributed in any form without restriction.
   Netbiff comes with NO WARRANTY.
Since this is a new license I'm asking debian-legal for completeness if
there could be any problems with this licensing? It should be DFSG free
as far as I can understand, right?

Nope. You are not allowing modifications and distribution of modified
versions, nor copying. Try:

Netbiff's copyright holders grant you the right to copy, redistribute,
modify and distribute modified copies of Netbiff, without any restriction.
Netbiff comes with NO WARRANTY.

This should be enough.

I agree it would be good to sync up the patches, but I don't think
there is any need to include the .6 in the debian version as we
 never did this for 2.6.8.
It is much more user-friendly, and it readly provides information on

I second that.
