Bug#395386: avifile build failure
Hmm have you tried the CVS tree compilation? For a while I'm now without reasonable working Debian machine (hopefully this will get fixed within some near time) but at this moment I've only some Fedora boxes available :( 2007/6/29, Martin Michlmayr [EMAIL PROTECTED]: So, GCC has tagged this issue as waiting for the C++ committee to resolve, but for now GCC rejects this code. Hence, avifile needs to be changed. Have you tried the patch Ben submitted? Can you forward it upstream? -- Martin Michlmayr http://www.cyrius.com/

Bug#290069: Improper copyright file
On 3/1/06, Justin Pryzby [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Can I expect to see this bug fixed for etch?http://bugs.debian.org/290069Well ffmpeg seems to be creating list of such copyright/licence - so it will be slowly getting fixed - for now I cannot make a new release, becausethere is a real mess with SDL libraries - so until there will bea workable SDL library there won't be made a new release...But if you imagene there will be licence cypyright holder know for each line of code - I'm mostly sure it will not happen anytime soon(if ever)
Bug#330012: avifile NMU
On 10/21/05, Nathanael Nerode [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Please NMU this if the maintainer doesn't upload in a few days. There is alot wrong with the package which can be fixed by a simple upload.Mostly there is the C++ transition (330012, 327932, 324848).Qt3 is ready as of a few days ago. (This is preventing dvr from transitioning, among other things.) Hmm just give ma a few days to come up with solution which allows compilation of of soem problemations code under the latest gcc (Missing some general_regs in ffmpeg routines) kabi
Bug#175039: Intention to NMU
Hi Have you made these changes agains the latest CVS version of Avifile (on sourceforge)? I'm planning already for two week to make a new regular release. On 10/19/05, Luk Claes [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-Hash: SHA1
Bug#328558: avifile-utils unavailable for powerpc
On 9/16/05, Albert Cahalan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Package: avifile-utilsVersion: 1:0.7.43.20050224-1Severity: importantI see no reason why this package should be restricted to just PCs.I wish to modify avi files on my Mac. Well I see the one - I'm the maintainer of the packages and as well as developer of avifile itself - I really don't have time to work on all platforms - if you have time and knowledge and you want to help me with making this packages usable on PowerPC you are welcome - avifile is written portable and if it doens't work on bigendian machines it's obviously a stupid bug somewhere (and I know it used to work on PowerPC) - but as majority of people are using mplayer which has tons of developers across all the platforms - I'm just about happy I do handle update of libs and so on for avifile for i386 platform ;) So you can consider this a request to allow building for all the otherports as well: alpha, hppa, sparc, mips... Well if you wish to help me with this you are welcome - I'll be happy when I make a new relase with new libs within next few weeks for i386 (note - use CVS version from sourceforge if you want to help me) kabi
Bug#324970: avifile: Does not document the copyright of source code properly
On 8/25/05, Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Package: avifile Version: 1:0.7.43.20050224-1 Priority: serious I really don't see any reason for this priority anyway - ffmpeg is: Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard et al. - ffmpeg/libavcodec/ppc/dsputil_altivec.c says This is clearly nonsence - the whole ffmpeg project has LGPL licence except for the the postprocess library which is GPL. I'm NOT going to list all names of the project into the debian copyright file (more or less these people are already listed in the ffmpeg project documentation which is enclosed in the source code. IMHO it would be crazy idea to keep such file in sync - it doesn't make sence - as it's stated in ffmpeg doc that all the changes in ffmpeg are bellow LGPL licence and if developer doesn't agree with this his changes are not accepted ( there was just one minor exception with postprocessing part which is GPL - as it's been developed originaly for GPLed mplayer.) So unless you will find a better reason for pushing me to such sensless work I'm not going to fix it this way. I could probably add more info about Project/Codecs Licence - but there are nothing else except LGP and GPL part (GPL is mainly because of Qt licence that doesn't allow LGPL - thus parts using GPL Qt are obviosly GPL) And there are some plugins which are also GPL. Is there some new Debian memorandu which states that copyrign file should contain which line of code was written by whom ? As this is clearly what you wish from me to do - but hey I'm a programmer which develops avifile - I'm not a secretary for this kind of work - so if you propose to activily create and maintant such file - I'd happily accept your updates for such file.
