Bug#1070976: RFP: cntr -- cntr is a replacement for docker exec that brings all your developer tools with you

2024-05-12 Thread Marcos Dione

* Package name: cntr
  Version : 1.5.3
  Upstream Contact: Jörg Thalheim
* URL : https://github.com/Mic92/cntr
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Rust
  Description : cntr is a replacement for docker exec that brings all your
developer tools with you

cntr is a replacement for docker exec that brings all your developer
tools with you. This is done by mounting the file system from one
container or the host into the target container by creating a nested
container with the help of a FUSE filesystem. This allows to ship
minimal runtime image in production and limit the surface for exploits,
while beign able to debug containers with more tools. It support most
container technologies.

I think it's a cool tool to have (containers are famously hard to debug
from the inside and the outside. This tool provides both worlds
together. More info at

retitle 1063591 RFP: anew -- Tool for adding new lines to files, skipping
duplicates (program)
noowner 1063591

The anew project isn't very active at the moment.
There are open bug issues on GitHub that haven't been addressed.
For this reason, I won't proceed with the effort to package anew for Debian.

I've opened an issue on the project's GitHub repository, but haven't received
any responses.
This is yet another reason not to pursue this packaging task further.

I am immensely grateful for the work done by the upstream team, but adhering
to Debian's best practices, it doesn't make sense to continue with this
packaging endeavor.

Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi there!

On tracker.debian.org when I click on the Maintainer name, a request is made
to https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?email=, but the page does not show
correct information, at least in my case.

I made several uploads using the address ta...@debian.org, but these are shown
in another address, ta...@users.sourceforge.net, an address I last used many
years ago. This occurred to all items of type "Sponsored/other uploads", and
for some NMUs, and QAs.

To leave no doubt about the issue: When I access [1] it shows all
"Sponsored/other uploads", some NMUs, and QAs, that I upload with
the address ta...@debian.org, and they aren't shown in right place [2].

Tested again on 12.4 on Gnome: the remote control window shows up, it
allows for moving/resizing once and then stop responding to the decoration.
I can close the window from the taskbar both in LXDE and Gnome, which is

Bug#1051428: veyon-master: Veyon remote control screens lack decorations (title bar and icons) on LXDE.

2023-09-07 Thread Marcos García Ochoa
Package: veyon-master
Version: 4.7.5+repack1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

On Debian Stable, veyon-master starts up correctly, showing the computers to be
managed when the group is selected.
Selecting remote control on a computer works (the screen shows up on the
desktop, the remote computer can be interacted with) but there is no title bar
nor any options to move it around like in the rest of the screens.

The attached screen capture shows a remote screen (with no decorations) and the
main veyon-master window in the background.

Thanks for your reply. I did some work on the package, and have
uploaded it here:
https://mentors.debian.net/package/netkit-telnet-ssl/

The source for it can be found here:
https://salsa.debian.org/marado/netkit-telnet-ssl

One of the changes I did was to 'adopt' the package by claiming to be
the maintainer,
https://salsa.debian.org/marado/netkit-telnet-ssl/-/commit/9e2ca9aadab47bfbe1ece0b55b570d5ea5673bbd

However, lintian does not seem to want the adoption message on the
changelog marking the orphan bug (this one) as closed:

> Package closes bugs in a wrong way: Bug #1014046 is a O bug

Should I just remove the bug number in that changelog entry? Or should
I do something else/instead?

Best regards,

This was fixed on netkit-telnet (see #835977 ), and netkit-telnet-ssl

Bug#1029319: arp-scan: should be built with libcap support

2023-01-21 Thread Marcos Fouces
Hi Sven,

Thanks for your report!

arp-scan is an admin command. It is installed (by default) in
/usr/sbin/, this directory is not in the $PATH of a normal user.

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea for a non-privileged user to
execute administrator commands, although it's a matter of preference.
In my opinion, this is fine this way and this bug should be closed.

Greetings,
Marcos

Bug#969113: spell: Please upload new upstream version 1.1

2023-01-09 Thread Marcos Talau
Control: tags 969113 + patch

Hi there!

The main difference between the upstream and Debian versions is the
"-ispell-dictionary, -D" option. The attached patch implements this
option in the upstream release (1.1).

Bug#1022844: man subsection directories are needed for mandoc(1)

2023-01-06 Thread Marcos Fouces
Hello Alejandro,

Debian policy is clear on this point: manual pages should be assigned
to man[1..9]/ dirs [1]. Lintian also issues error tags when this
behavior is not observed [2].

The desired section expressed through the file extension and the .TH
field is not modified. All .so links are corrected to point to the
corresponding man page.

>From dh_installman(1) manual page:

" ...you tell dh_installman what man pages go in your packages, and it
figures out where to install them based on the section field in their
.TH or .Dt line. If you have a properly formatted .TH or .Dt line, your
man page will be installed into the right directory, with the right
name (this includes proper handling of pages with a subsection, like
3perl, which are placed in man3, and given an extension of .3perl). If
your .TH or .Dt line is incorrect or missing, the program may guess
wrong based on the file extension."

What is the precise drawback of this solution?

Greetings,
Marcos

Bug#1023217: manpages: Wrongly sorted man pages

2023-01-06 Thread Marcos Fouces
Hello Helge,
The presence of these *.2 and *.3 manpages in the manpages package
instead of manpages-dev is to avoid sending broken links in the
manpages-dev package.

The source package even provides a script [1] to check for this problem
and make corrections.

There is also an example in the manpages-dev package: console_ioctl.4
is moved to the manpages-dev package because it points to
ioctl_console.2.

Unless a better solution is proposed, I think it's best to close this
bug in a few days.

Greetings,
Marcos

Bug#1014046: netkit-telnet-ssl adoption

2023-01-03 Thread Marcos Marado
Hi there,

I'm not a debian developer, but a long time user of netkit-telnet-ssl,
and I'd like to
see this package adopted.

I'm not changing this into an ITA since the original orphaning message a good
candidate for adoption was already mentioned, and in any case I would need a
sponsor. Still, I wish to register here my interest, and please let me
know if I can
be of help.

First, I apologize for what happened.

I was working on changing the Maintainer field of orphaned packages to QA Group.
I started the work by looking at page [1] to get the list of packages. I did the
change for ~166 packages. In this list, on 27 packages, I removed the Uploaders
field. I checked every package and this mistake occurred on this package and the
packages statcvs and closure-compiler, which were already fixed (thanks Jochen).

Again, very sorry for that.

Heheh, sorry for that, and thanks for the info :D

The Maintainer field has not been changed, and I prepared a series of NMUs
against the same issue.

I will cancel the NMU and do a QA to fix the issue, and I'm going to take the
opportunity to update the Maintainer field to Debian QA Group.

Bug#1016612: ITP: tanidvr -- tool for DVRs and IP cameras based on DVR-IP protocol used by Dahua

2022-08-03 Thread Marcos Talau
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Marcos Talau
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-de...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: tanidvr
  Version : 1.4.1
  Upstream Author : Daniel Mealha Cabrita
* URL : http://tanidvr.sourceforge.net
* License : GPL-3
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : tool for DVRs and IP cameras based on DVR-IP protocol used
by Dahua

TaniDVR is a CLI tool for accessing DVRs and IP cameras used
for CCTV surveillance systems based on the proprietary DVR-IP
protocol (port 3/TCP).
.
The main use of TaniDVR is to dump video from a device. With
this you can record to a Matroska (MKV) file or play the video
in realtime with an external player.
.
TaniDVR works with OEM DVRs and IP cameras produced by Dahua,
sold under several brands, such as:
  * Apollo
  * Acorn F
  * BCS
  * C2Max
  * DVR365
  * GWave
  * Intelbras
  * IntelliPix
  * Kompsos
  * Mace S. P.
  * New Surway
  * NextVision
  * Q-See
  * WatchNet
  (and dozens more)
.
But if the device works with the DVR-IP protocol, it is expected
to work.
.
TaniDVR is confirmed to work with the following devices:
  * BCS BCS-DVR0801QE II
  * BCS BCS-DVR1602Q
  * BCS BCS-DVR3208M
  * BCS BCS-IPC-HFW2100
  * BCS BCS-NVR0802

  * Dahua DH-NVR3816
  * Dahua IPC-HDB3200C
  * Intelbras VD 8E 240
  * Intelbras VD 16E 480C
  * QVIS Apollo
  (see updated list at TaniDVR's website)

Bug#1015173: ITP: pwncat -- reverse shell handler with all netcat features

2022-07-16 Thread Marcos Talau
Package: wnpp

* Package name: pwncat
  Version : 0.1.2
  Upstream Author : cytopia <https://github.com/cytopia>
* URL : https://pwncat.org
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : reverse shell handler with all netcat features

pwncat is a fully compatible netcat fork written in Python with many more
aggressive network features on top.
.
It comes with a Python Scripting Engine (PSE) that allows you to manipulate
incoming and outgoing traffic to your needs. This can reach from wrapping
current TCP/UDP traffic into higher protocols such as HTTP, FTP, Telnet,
etc or even go to encrypting and decrypting your traffic.
.
Besides regular netcat features like full IPv4, IPv6 and UDP/TCP, IP ToS,
port scanning, server/client, bind, and reverse shells, it also comes with
pivoting features, ssh-less local and remote port-forwarding, port-hopping,
target self-injection and many more.

Bug#1012935: gf-complete: ftbfs with GCC-12

2022-07-16 Thread Marcos Talau
Control: tags 1012935 confirmed

Hi there!

This week I've been working on this bug and I've come to some conclusions that
might help in your solution.

1. I confirmed the existence of the bug
 This bug occurs during "dh_auto_test" when gcc-12 is used in the "gf-complete"
compilation process. I used gcc-11 and verified that "dh_auto_test" ran without
errors. Switching to gcc-12 had the same problem reported here.

2. I compiled the package "qemu-user-static" with gcc-12
 After compiling, the problem persisted.

3. I compiled "qemu" using your latest version of git with gcc-12
 Using the development version of qemu also did not solve the problem.

4. I compiled each file that forms the library "libgf_complete.so.1.0.0"
separately
 I created a script and used the gcc-11 compiler as default and performed the
compilation of each .c file in the "./src" directory. After that I tested with
the following command the existence of runtime errors:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/tests/gf-complete/src/.libs qemu-x86_64-static \
-cpu qemu64,-sse3,-ssse3,-sse4.1,-sse4.2 ./test/.libs/gf_unit 64 A -1 -

 Having no errors in the execution, I changed the compiler of each file to
gcc-12,
until I found the files that had problems when gcc-12 was used. Finished the
process, I located the following files: gf.c, gf_w64.c, and gf_rand.c.

5. I checked the difference between the objects generated by gcc-11 and gcc-12
 Before checking the difference, I had already read the documents [1], [2], and
[3], and I had not found anything to justify the problem that was happening.

[1] https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-12/porting_to.html
[2] https://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-12/changes.html
[3] https://salsa.debian.org/toolchain-team/gcc/-/blob/master/debian/NEWS.gcc

 Rereading the qemu error message: "Illegal instruction", I decided to check if
there were any significant differences between the instructions generated by
the gcc-11 and gcc-12 compilers. To do this I used the "elfx86exts" software.
Taking object "libgf_complete_la-gf.o" as an example:

# wget
https://github.com/pkgw/elfx86exts/archive/refs/tags/elfx86e...@0.5.0.tar.gz
# tar xvf elfx86exts\@0.5.0.tar.gz
# cd elfx86exts-elfx86exts-0.5.0
# cargo build

# cargo run -- /tmp/gcc-11/libgf_complete_la-gf.o
Finished dev [unoptimized + debuginfo] target(s) in 0.02s
 Running `target/debug/elfx86exts /tmp/gcc-11/libgf_complete_la-gf.o`
MODE64 (push)
CMOV (cmovns)
SSE2 (movdqu)
SSE1 (movups)
CPU Generation: Intel Core

# cargo run -- /tmp/gcc-12/libgf_complete_la-gf.o
Finished dev [unoptimized + debuginfo] target(s) in 0.02s
 Running `target/debug/elfx86exts /tmp/gcc-12/libgf_complete_la-gf.o`
MODE64 (push)
CMOV (cmovns)
SSE2 (movd)
SSE41 (pminsd)
SSE1 (movups)
CPU Generation: Penryn

 Comparing the instructions presented above, generated by the gcc-11 and gcc-12
compilers, it can be seen that gcc-12 generated instructions that gcc-11 does
not. That's why qemu gives the error of "Illegal instruction" when using gcc-12
with the options "-cpu qemu64,-sse3,-ssse3,-sse4.1,-sse4.2".
