Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
configuring ipv6 address for a hostname in /etc/hosts and ipv4 target
 address in rsyslog.conf action.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   Steps to recreate
   1. Edit /etc/hosts file and add the following line
   fe80::2204:fff:fef7:3dbe dns6

   2. Edit /etc/rsyslog.conf and add the following two lines.

$template MyFormat,"<%pri%>1 %timegenerated:::date-rfc3339%
%hostname% %app-name% %procid% %msgid% %structured-data%
%%!msg1%"
   *.info action(type="omfwd" Target="dns6" Address="100.1.2.61"
   Device="mgmt" Port="514" Protocol="udp" Template="MyFormat")

   3. run rsyslogd daemon and observe crash.
   root@docker-core:/# /usr/sbin/rsyslogd -n
 Segmentation fault

   * What was the outcome of this action?
rsyslogd crashes with the following trace
(gdb) bt

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
rsyslogd can print a error log but shouldn't crash.

Bug#916270: fortunes-eo: extremely racist fortune present/estas treege racisma fortuno

2018-12-12 Thread tristan alexander mc leay
Package: fortunes-eo
Version: 20020729b-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer, (English above/Esperanto sekvas)

The fortunes-eo package contains the following fortune:

"Lavu tutan jaron, negro ne blankiĝos"
i.e. "Wash for a whole year, a negro won't become white"

It uses both offensive language (Prevo marks "negro" as evitinda) and offensive
imagery to make its point. It is not appropriate in Debian.

Kara Zorgulo, (English above/Esperanto ĉi tie)

La pakaĵo fortunes-eo enhavas la sekvantan fortunon:

"Lavu tutan jaron, negro ne blankiĝos"

Ĝi uzas kaj malĝentilegan idiomon (Prevo rigardas "negron" kiel evitinda) kaj
malĝentilegan bildecon por fari ĝian celsignifon. Ĝi ne estas taŭga en
Debiano.

Bug#895895: linux-image-4.15.0-2-amd64: shutdown, suspend operations do not work

2018-04-17 Thread tristan alexander mc leay
Package: linux-image-4.15.0-2-amd64
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

My computer boots directly into X. If I:

   (a) run "shutdown -h now" or otherwise initiate a shutdown
   (b) close the lid or otherwise attempt to suspend the system

the computer hangs instead of completing. In case (a), the computer will
not shutdown. Instead, whatever state the screen was in when I initiated
the shutdown command remains on screen.

Likewise, in case (b), if I ask it to suspend, it doesn't work. Instead,
the screen goes black and it looks as though it's really suspending, but
the computer remains hot, the fan will turn on if it has to, and whether
I open the laptop or press the power button, the system will not resume.

I have now booted into 4.14, and it works normally.

Here's the contents of lspci which I think might be useful in this case.
If some other information is more useful, please reply by email.

Bug#870347: fortunes-eo: offensive fortune in non-offensive collection

2017-08-01 Thread tristan alexander mc leay
Package: fortunes-eo
Version: 20020729b-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer (An esperanto translation follows; Esperanta traduko sekvas),

In the esperanto fortunes, there is a fortune thus:

Virino scias -- tuta mondo scias

meaning "A woman knows — The whole world knows".

It indicates that woman are uniquely well-described as being gossips. This is
simply not the case and the sexism is greatly offensive. Whatever truth it has
in one particular time and place, it does not hold general truth.

It should be removed or at least relegated to a collection of potentially
offensive fortunes.

 Esperanto:

En la esperantaj fortunoj, estas fortuno tiel:

Virino scias -- tuta mondo scias

Ĝi signifas, ke virinoj estas ununure bone-priskribitaj kiel klaĉuloj. Tio

Bug#866224: Fwd: gimp-gap 2.6.0 is wrong for gimp 2.8.x

2017-06-28 Thread mc

Package: gimp-gap

Version: 2.6.0+dfsg-5+b2

from

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=749290

Note that the GIT master was still compatible with the older GIMP-2.6.x
releases

until 2015.05.14, but since this date it has been updated to the level of
the gap-2-8 branch.
Note that GIT master is now intended for further updates
to follow GIMP-2.9.x and later API changes.

Now Now master and 2.8 gimp-gap branches are the same.

gimp-gap 2.6.0 is broken in many functions with gimp 2.8.xx

Bug#618453: emacs23: nxml-dynamic-markup-word misplaces closing tag

2011-03-15 Thread patrick mc allister
Package: emacs23
Version: 23.2+1-7
Severity: normal

Run emacs23 -Q and open an xml file in nxml-mode with the following content:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
dinner
  monday
firstCoursesoup/firstCourse
mainCoursepumpkin/mainCourse
  /monday
  tuesday
soup

Calling nxml-dynamic-markup-word with the cursor behind Tuesday's soup results
in

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
dinner
  monday
firstCoursesoup/firstCourse/firstCourse
mainCoursepumpkin/mainCourse

The problem is that Monday's firstCourse is closed twice, and Tuesday's
firstCourse isn't closed.

I'd expect a result as follows:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?

Not sur if this really is a bug - or I simply don't understand

no such file exists. the man page to apt-file does state that it

non-free in the sources.list apt-file still seems to find this

Ah. good to learn.

As there is an upload scheduled anyway I hope this bug gets fixed with
the next upload automatically. Thomas, could you please double-check
  before uploading?
Not automatically, but the next upload will fix it.

That'll make people happy :-)

Bug#320669: qiv: fullscreen mode occupies cursor in dual screen setup

2005-07-31 Thread patrick mc allister
Package: qiv
Version: 2.0-4
Severity: normal

hello,

i'm using a dual display setup. on one display, i'd like to view
images with qiv in fullscreen mode and have another app running on the
other screen. this basically works, except for one annoyance: the
cursor is occupied by qiv on all screens, i.e. when i move the cursor
to another screen than the one qiv is running on, it doesn't change
back to the default but is retained by qiv (it stays in the form of a
mouse and doesn't become an arrow, and every mouse action gets sent to
the qiv window in fullscreen mode). that makes the cursor useless,
which in turn makes it impossible to focus on other windows (at least
in my windowmanager, afterstep).

regards and thankyou for a very efficient piece of software,

pma

Bug#310842: additional information

2005-07-18 Thread Rico -mc- Gloeckner
Additional Information which may or may not help some people and/or is
related to this bugreport.

I had one poller silently failing, with either cmd.php or cactid.

Turned out that cacti works by:
 - polling items - writing values into sql
 - fetching values from sql - writing into rrd

The second step failed since the queue of data in the sql DB raised
too high, thus throwing an OOM exception within the php script.

Setting php4-cli/php.ini to mem=512M solved *this* issue. Maybe its
wise to ini_set() mem higher in poller.php.
