Bug#477650: ifupdown: ifdown should use /etc/network/run/ifstate in reverse order
Package: ifupdown Version: 0.6.8 Severity: important Problem: ifdown -a uses the statefile, located at /etc/network/run/ifstate, to bring all configured interfaces down. It downs them using the order they appear in this file. This will cause errors if one uses VLANs or alias-devices, because they are defined after the physical interface they belong to. Example: iface eth0 static inet ... iface eth0:1 static inet ... ifdown -a would first down eth0, then tries eth0:1 which is already gone. Solution: Simply let 'ifdown -a' use interfaces named in ifstate in reverse order. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages ifupdown depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.11etch1 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.1-23.2etch1 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii net-tools 1.60-17 The NET-3 networking toolkit ifupdown recommends no packages. -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#477563: ifenslave-2.6: bond is not destroyed properly on ifdown
Package: ifenslave-2.6 Version: 1.1.0-6 Severity: normal Tags: patch Problems found: On ifdown -a or ifdown bond0, the script /etc/network/if-down.d/ifenslave tries to loop through each interface configured in the slave stanza of the interface configuration to --detach it using ifenslave binary. This results in an warning about duplicate MAC addresses. Furthermore the bond device is still active, it's not brought down, even if it has no IP and MAC configuration. Diagnosis: This results in an warning about duplicate MAC addresses. It's because the bond-device gets it's MAC from the first enslaved device. If this device is the first detached from the bond (always assuming that there are at least 2 devices in an bond ) the detached device and the bond device will have the same MAC. Solution: Replace the for-loop in if-down.d script with a simple ifconfig $IFACE down This ensures the bond to be deassembled properly (it's also preferred in the man-page of bonding). All enslaved devices are released and the bond device is defenitivly down. Thats all. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages ifenslave-2.6 depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries Versions of packages ifenslave-2.6 recommends: ii net-tools 1.60-17The NET-3 networking toolkit -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#377072: Cannot sort package lists in Synaptic
Package: Synaptic Version: 0.57.8ubuntu11 Hello guys, I noticed that I cannot sort (order) the packages listed in Synaptic when I click on any of the collumn headers. Clicking several times on a collumn header should cycle through the following sorting modes: ascending, descending, and neutral (I'm not sure about this one). A little arrow (icon) appears in the collumn header as you cycle through the modes but the list itself doesn't change and remains untouched. I am running Ubuntu Linux Dapper Drake and will provide more information if necessary. Thanks in advance! -- Og B. Package: installation-reports Debian-installer-version: Fill in date and from where you got the image uname -a: The result of running uname -a on a shell prompt Date: Date and time of the install Method: How did you install? Output of lspci and lspci -n: Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot worked:[o] Configure network HW: [ ] Config network: [ ] Detect CD: [e] Load installer modules: [ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Create file systems:[ ] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system:[ ] Install boot loader:[ ] Reboot: [ ] Comments/Problems: The initial boot from CD works fine and I can get to the point of detection of hardware. After detection of hardware, it list several packages that are not available and what Hardware require them but states that continuing with install will make them available later. After clicking continue it fails to read the CD. Error given says this is probably because CD is not inserted, however it is. I burned the CD from image debian-31r0a-i386-binary-1 which I downloaed from a torrent. I've burned three different copies and all three do the same thing. I'm not sure if the missing packages is causing a problem or if my CD Drive is malfunctioning in some way. Please Respond with help if possible
