Bug#685801: Wheezy can't boot on netbook

2012-08-25 Thread os.n...@gmx.de
Hello Ben,

please have a look at bug 655505. I reported the same or similar bug at 11.
January 2012 with the installer. Now I wanted to try out if the bug is solved.

Because I use the netbook daily for work now, I don't install a new release at
my own risk. That's why I first try a live version and if everything is fine I
will install later. Because there is no official live built image of Wheezy I
had to built it myself.

For testing a beta release of Wheezy it would be good if you create an official
live built image rather than to force the user to make an installation.

Best wishes
Oliver

Bug#685801: Wheezy can't boot on netbook

2012-08-24 Thread os.n...@gmx.de
Package: installation-reports

I built the following live iso-hybrid from http://live-build.debian.net:

distribution: wheezy
package-lists: kde
architectures: i386
bootstrap-flavour: standard
linux-flavours: 486
bootappend: locales=de_DE.UTF-8 keyboard-layout=de timezone=Europe/Berlin

Then I copied the iso-hybrid file to an USB stick and booted my Asus EeePC
1015BX netbook. I saw the first screen (where you could enter the boot
options), pressed the return key, Wheezy begins to start (I saw the some lines
of the boot process) but than hang up with a black screen. When I switch to
another console (Alt+F2 key) the screen is almost black with some casual white
lines but no text or command prompt.

Debian Stable (Squeeze) works fine on my netbook.

If you need further information please let me know.

Best wishes
Oliver

Bug#655505: (no subject)

2012-02-13 Thread os.n...@gmx.de
I assume that the problem is due to drm (direct rendering management). I tried
Knoppix (kernel 3.0.4) and got the same problem until I set the cheatcode
nodrm. Then Knoppix worked well. So it might be good if the Debian installer
could disable drm.
Best wishes
Oliver

Bug#655505: Testing (Wheezy): No usable screen after installation with Debian-Installer

2012-01-11 Thread os.n...@gmx.de
Package: Debian-Installer

I installed Debian Testing (Wheezy) from CD-ROM (net-install) on my netbook
Asus EeePC 1015BX. The installation worked fine but when I removed the CD-ROM
and rebooted the netbook I didn't get a usable screen. The screen is totally
unusable, many black, grey and white lines and dots, no text is visible. For
your information the x-server is not installed yet.

On the other hand Debian Stable (Squeeze) works fine on my netbook. I tried the
live-cd from Xubuntu 11.10 and it works, too.

If you need further information please let me know.

Best wishes
Oliver

Bug#603506: Mplayer needs libavformat_52 (in Squeeze)

2010-11-14 Thread os.n...@gmx.de
Package: mplayer
Version: 2:1.0~rc3++final.dfsg1-1

I installed mplayer and mplayer-gui from Debian testing. When I run gmplayer I
get the following error message:

gmplayer: relocation error: gmplayer: symbol codec_wav_tags, version
LIBAVFORMAT_52 not defined in file libavformat.so.52 with link time reference.

You can find a similar bug report with number bug=595241. The bug seems to be
not fixed till now.

2010-11-13 Thread os.n...@gmx.de

Bug#602602: XFE: window position after start is wrong (Squeeze)

2010-11-08 Thread os.n...@gmx.de
Thank you for your answer. I installed xfe-i18n and xfe-themes, but the problem
is still the same. Of course I can select move application from the menu of
my window manager and then activate the option remember position. This works.
But if a new user starts xfe the very first time he has no window decoration
and I assume that he will be helpless. So it would be great if you could fix
the bug in xfe 1.32.1-4 because this will be part of the next stable release of
Debian.

Best wishes
Oliver

Bug#602602: XFE: window position after start is wrong (Squeeze)

2010-11-06 Thread os.n...@gmx.de
Package: xfe
Version: 1.32.1-4

I use JWm (joe's window manager). when I start xfe 1.32.1-4 the window
decoration is not visible because the application window is outside the range
on the left top side. The problem was already addressed here:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=2898004group_id=64835atid=508822
and fixed in xfe 1.32.2. But it isn't fiexed in xfe 1.32.1-4 (Debian Squeeze).

Bug#602432: Right click menu command uses wrong file in Squeeze

2010-11-04 Thread os.n...@gmx.de
Package: rox-filer
Version: 2.10-1.1

When you start rox-filer and right click on a file the command of the menu
(e.g. Open As Text) opens the selected file. If you then right click on
another file this file is not selected and the command of the menu still uses
the old (first) file.

Rox-filer 2.7.1-1 (Lenny) was fine.
