Bug#777123: ITA: zpaq -- maximum reference compressor for ZPAQ open standard)

2015-02-25 Thread pothos
Hello,

happy to hear this. Are you a DD or maintainer already?

First: The old package must go away, there are serious bugs and it's
totaly outdated. But as archives created with it are still supported by
the new version (Change from ZPAQLv1 to v2) this is not a problem.

Release happens always as zip-files, the github archive is not official,
so maintaining it without git seems to be the way to go.

I would really love to see it alive in Debian again. In future it could
be compiled in a way that a shared library could be used by file-roller
and other archivers.

Regards,
Kai

 Hi.

I intend to a adopt this package.

It would be great if Jari Aalto and Kai Lüke wanted to help.

Bug#760948: post-inst script fails while adding group systemd-journal if it exists

2014-09-09 Thread pothos
Package: systemd
Version: 215-2
Severity: grave

After installation systemd.postinst fails with code 1 when the group
systemd-journal already exists because then addgroup returns code 1 even
with --quiet.
To resolve this I added || true in line 98 so that the script continues:

addgroup --quiet --system systemd-journal || true

Thanks for reading so fast ;)

myuser@hostname:~$ sudo getent group systemd-journal
systemd-journal:x:1007:myuser

myuser@hostname:~$ sudo addgroup --system systemd-journal
addgroup: The group `systemd-journal' already exists and is not a system
group. Exiting.

Bug#756616: activate zswap support in kernel 3.16

2014-07-31 Thread pothos
Package: linux-headers-3.16-rc6-amd64
Version: 3.16~rc6-1~exp1
Severity: wishlist

Rightnow the kernel is not build with CONFIG_ZSWAP, which is a method
to compress RAM pages instead of swapping straight. Please add support
for it, as to enable it anyway the boot parameter zswap.enabled=1
would be needed and thus the default configuration is not affected.
By now Ubuntu is having support for it.

Regards,
Kai

Bug#749432: gnome-shell: overview draws window preview and the left app bar too much at the bottom or oscillates window and app bar

2014-05-26 Thread pothos
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.12.2-1
Severity: normal

(reporting late, but experienced with experimental 3.12.2-1 and all other 3.12
versions before)
When going into activities overview, either the window preview and the app
starter are positioned too much downwards as it can be seen here:
http://kailueke.spline.de/gnomeshelloverviewbug.png
Also for maximized windows mainly the overview oscillates faster than a second
beween showing the window and showing the app starter on the left (both at
bottom).
No other screen is attached to the system.

Bug#740097: nvidia-legacy-304xx-kernel-source: Module can not be loaded for Linux 3.13

2014-02-25 Thread pothos
Package: nvidia-legacy-304xx-kernel-source
Version: 304.117-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Upgrade to linux-image-3.13-1-amd64 made the nvidia module build fine by DKMS,
but loading failes with the dmesg entry:
kernel: nvidia: Unknown symbol acpi_os_wait_events_complete (err 0)

Using linux-image-3.12-1-amd64 however works.

Bug#652896: place of broadwayd

2014-02-08 Thread pothos
Instead of an additional package I would say the right place is
libgtk-3-bin which just neads to be aware of this new binary.

My workaround is apt-get source libgtk-3-0 and after
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --enable-broadway-backend
--enable-x11-backend --disable-wayland-backend
going to gdk/broadway and make broadwayd, then you can just copy this
binary elsewhere and run it.
./broadwayd :0
Tested via e.g. GTK_MODULES= GDK_BACKEND=broadway BROADWAY_DISPLAY=:0
gnome-tetravex
which should provide a new window under http://localhost:8080/
Or consider setting a password before: openssl passwd -1
~/.config/broadway.passwd

Greets,
Kai

Bug#716809: webkitgtk: uses unifont for korean text in standard fonts instead of Dotum like other programmes

2013-07-12 Thread pothos
Package: webkitgtk
Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

After installing unifont on the system all fonts in Gtk still behave the same
when showing hangeul (korean text) which means that e.g. DejaVu uses (Un)Dotum
for the korean text, it works in Gtk text fields, firefox, chromium etc. But
only in webkit-gtk (through epiphany, surf, midori, webkit2pdf) unifont is
selected which makes no sense and is very annoying. It could only be solved by
removing unifont.

Bug#652896: Compile broadway backend

2013-05-25 Thread pothos
Hello,
I would like to speak out again for this feature as it also has
multi-process support and is in the documentation:
https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/3.8/gtk-broadway.html
Recompiling the lib takes very long and so if you even think it's not
ready for sid yet, I would like to see it at least in experimental.
Regards,
Kai

Bug#583925: any news about new connman?

2011-08-31 Thread pothos
Why can't the new Ubuntu version of connman be synced to sid?
They have builds also in launchpad of the newest versions as well as old
versions.
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/connman/0.76-0ubuntu1/+build/2663774
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/armel/connman/0.69-0ubuntu2
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/76524520/buildlog_ubuntu-oneiric-armel.connman_0.76-0ubuntu1_BUILDING.txt.gz
I am planning to become a debian developer, but I am still to uneducated
for this ;) also I don't have the time (now). (Came from a volunteer
year in Ghana and will start to study next month.)

So, please, is there anybody having time, skills and rights to bring the
new version of connman to our Debian?
Thanks in advance,
Kai
