Bug#785940: xserver-xorg: xserver fails to start cannot read int vect

2015-05-20 Thread tim schmidt
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.7+9
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Updating to 1.17.1 renders xserver unable to start for some using VESA.
It appears that a patch is in the ubuntu repositories but has not yet made
it back to debian. Link below

Bug#782659: iceweasel: cookie exceptions retained in private mode

2015-04-15 Thread tim schmidt
Package: iceweasel
Version: 31.6.0esr-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I use the following custom settings for history:

always use private browsing mode
accept cookies from sites
accept 3rd party cookies: never

I noticed that in the exceptions area on the privacy tab it keeps a list of
exceptions and this list is
retained after restarting the browser or even the computer. As this keeps a
tally of where I've been,
I believe this to be a privacy concern, as private browsing mode is supposed to
leave no trace of activity
on one's PC. This list can be manually deleted, however many people may be
unaware of its existence and
having to manually delete information defeats the purpose of private mode.

Bug#762592: apper Unable to open database read-only in current debian testing

2014-09-23 Thread tim schmidt
Package: apper
Version: 0.9.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

lastest update to apper in debian testing resulted in the following error on
startup:

Unable to open database read-only: Database action 'prepare app insert
statement' failed:
SQL logic error or missing database (table applications has no column named
unique_name)

This renders apper unusable.

Deleting the Listaller cache DB seemed to fix the problem for me. command used:

rm -r /var/lib/listaller/db/

Bug#747086: apper: Apper crashing when updating or showing installed apps

2014-05-05 Thread tim schmidt
Package: apper
Version: 0.8.1-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After recent upgrade apper no longer functions for testing. Each time I
attempt to upgrade or list installed packages it crashes.

When run from terminal apper produces the following error: apper: symbol
lookup error: /usr/lib/apper/libapper.so: undefined symbol:
appstream_database_new

apt-get upgrade still works, but less technical uses who are unfamiliar with
apt-get could be stuck unable to upgrade all packages indefinitely.
This might be fixed in 0.8.2 however there is no way to upgrade other than
using the terminal at this time. That might cause issues.

Thanks!
