Bug#387044: wrong rendering of newlines in description

I can confirm this behaviour (independent of the terminal width).
The interesting point is that (besides debian/control looking as
expected) debc and dkpkg --info present the long description in a
 sane way.

Guessing: Could this be an aptitude problem? Maybe caused by the
 hash (#)?

/me guessing too:

probably it's not aptitude, but the description is really wrong, since I've
seen the same problem many times in various packages and he maintainer
probably just needs to read up the spec on how sane descriptions are allowed
to be formated.

Bug#386579: Patch: apt: please mention in the manpage, that --option can be used multiple times

Somehow the patch for the docu didn't make it. I'm submitting it with this
mail.

Bug#372256: [Pkg-cups-devel] Bug#372256: unclear wording in NEWS file

2006-06-09 Thread tpo
Zitat von Martin-Éric Racine [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Please note that 1.1.23-15 never made it to Testing. Instead, we have
1.2.1-2 there. Could you please compare and check if it still applies?

Oh, actually that's from the text I got when in installed 1.2.1-2. I don't
know why the bug report indicates version 1.1.23-15 - probably I was too
quick. Anyway - I have checked the bug reports against cupsys and there was
not mention of any problem/fix of the NEWS file - so I very much assume that
it still applies.

The NEWS file contains unclear wording. I suggest instead of:

  -
* Port/Listen and Browsing parameters are splitted from newer
  /etc/cups/cupsd.conf. You can modify /etc/cups/cups.d/ports.conf
  and /etc/cups/cups.d/browsing.conf by 'dpkg-reconfigure cupsys'
  or by hand.
If you'd like to use this feature, replace Port/Listen
  line of /etc/cups/cupsd.conf with
'Include /etc/cups/cups.d/ports.conf' and replace Browsing line
  with 'Include /etc/cups/cups.d/browse.conf'.
(Parameters are already taken from old /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
   automatically.)
  -
  to write:
  -
* Port/Listen and Browsing parameters have been split off of
/etc/cups/cupsd.conf into separate files. You can modify
  /etc/cups/cups.d/ports.conf and
  /etc/cups/cups.d/browsing.conf by runing
  'dpkg-reconfigure cupsys' or by hand.
If you'd like to use these features, then replace the lines
  'Port/Listen' inside /etc/cups/cupsd.conf with
  'Include /etc/cups/cups.d/ports.conf' and 'Browsing' with
  'Include /etc/cups/cups.d/browse.conf'.
(These settings are being moved automatically from the old
/etc/cups/cupsd.conf config file to the new files
   /etc/cups/cups.d/ports.conf and /etc/cups/cups.d/browse.conf)
