Bug#891036: libusbip: error: port number exceeds 128

2018-02-21 Thread wzab
Package: usbip
Version: 2.0+4.14.13-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

When I try to access the USB devices exported with usbip from another
machine,
even before I try to access the remote usbip server I gaet the strange
error:

# modprobe vhci-hcd
# usbip port
libusbip: error: port number exceeds 128
usbip: error: open vhci_driver
usbip: error: list imported devices

Of course I'm not able to attach any device.

# usbip attach -b 4-1 -r 192.168.0.82
libusbip: error: port number exceeds 128
usbip: error: open vhci_driver
usbip: error: query

Even though the device is visible for my machine:
# usbip list -r 192.168.0.82
Exportable USB devices
==
 - 192.168.0.82

I have attempted to attach the device to the virtual machine (Knoppix
8.1) running
under QEMU. Everything worked correctly. So obviously it is a problem
with the current
version of Debian/testing.

Bug#859573: inkscape: Wrong bounding box if export to PDF is done with a single object selected

2017-04-04 Thread wzab

Package: inkscape
Version: 0.92.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When I export different objects into separate files (e.g. to create
overlays for LaTeX prosper

package), I get incorrect page size in created PDF files.

I attach sample svg file (test.svg) containing two objects: obiekt1 and
obiekt2 and results

of the export.
They were generated by:
$ inkscape -z -C -A test.pdf  test.svg $ inkscape -z -C -i obiekt1 -A
test1.pdf  test.svg

The test.pdf file has correct bounding box, while test1.pdf has
incorrect one.

With best regards,
Wojtek

Bug#644174: Probable cause of freeze of Dell Vostro 3750, when booting with device connected to USB 3.0 jack

2012-09-04 Thread wzab
I have found some facts which hopefully may explain the problems with
booting of Dell Vostro 3750.

1. The system hangs, when it attempts to service cooling devices
controlled via SMBus
2. The SMBus controller and the USB 3.0 controller share the same IRQ 18
line (is it a standard solution or design flaw?)

3. The interrupt service routine in the i2c-smbus.c driver seems not to
support shared interrupts.

All above findings are described in more detailed way in the bug report:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42844

particularly:

Bug#661887: mxml: Bad control character error when attempting to load banks

2012-03-22 Thread wzab
Package: zynaddsubfx
Version: 2.4.0-1.2
Followup-For: Bug #661887

Dear Maintainer,

I experience the same situation on my system.
To investigate the problem, I have run zynaddsubfx via strace:

strace -ff -o log zynaddsubfx
That's what I've found in one of the logs, after I tried to select one of banks

open(/usr/share/zynaddsubfx/banks/William_Godfrey_Collection//0045-Hard Stereo
Sweep Synth.xiz, O_RDONLY) = 7
fstat64(7, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=2860, ...}) = 0

mmap2(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) =
0xb0059000
fstat64(7, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=2860, ...}) = 0

_llseek(7, 0, [0], SEEK_SET)= 0

read(7,
\37\213\10\0\0\0\0\0\0\3\355\\Qs\3338\16~\357\257\360\371\275\353\310\211c{\246\355\216/...,
 2860) = 2860
_llseek(7, 2860, [2860], SEEK_SET)  = 0

close(7)= 0

munmap(0xb0059000, 4096)= 0

write(2, mxml: Bad control character 0x1f..., 62) = 62

When I opened the
/usr/share/zynaddsubfx/banks/William_Godfrey_Collection//0045-Hard Stereo Sweep
Synth.xiz
without decompression, I can see, that indeed the first byte is 0x1f

However if I rename it e.g. to test.gz and perform gzip -d test.gz, I can see
correct XML file.

So the source of the problem is that zynaddsubfx does not recognize the .xiz
files as compressed, and attempts
to open them directly as XML.

Bug#658638: wings3d: I'm not able to save the file when Weld operation deletes a hole

2012-02-04 Thread wzab
Package: wings3d
Version: 1.4.1-1+b1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I was editing the attached file w8.wings. I tried to remove the whole
an one end of the created pipe using the connect and weld operations.
However as soon as the hole disappears due to welding of the vertex
located in the middle of one edge to the vertex located on the end of this
edge, I'm not able to save the file any more.
The program creates the attached wings_crash.dump file, and after
click resumes operation, but I'm not able to save the resulting file
any more. (So finally I have to quit program loosing all my work).

Bug#627087: xpdf causes screen corruptions when another window is dragged over its window

2011-05-17 Thread wzab
Package: xpdf
Version: 3.02-12
Severity: important

When I drag another window in front of xpdf window, the other windows
gets corrupted (see attached screenshots).

I've noticed this problem in two machines with Intel
chipsets (82865G and 945GM/GMS/GME) so it may be associated with
known problem with Intel driver (e.g.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=596085 ).
Two other machines with [SiS] 65x/M650/740 PCI/AGP VGA and
nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX4000] chipsets didn't show such problem).

Anyway with Linux kernel 2.6.38 the problem on Intel machines occures
only with xpdf, so it must be associated with particular way in which
xpdf interacts with the Xserver.

Looking for bugs related to Intel chipsets I've found

It seems, that this bug also is best visible with xpdf.

appeared to be related to simple software bug in Intel

Bug#626850: The successor of guitarix - gx_head is available

2011-05-15 Thread wzab

Package: guitarix
Version: 0.11.1-1
Severity: wishlist

I haved just stated, that gx_head - the improved successor of guitarix
(still available via http://guitarix.sf.net) is available
and cleanly compiles and installs in debian/testing.

I have simply downloaded and unpacked the sources,
then I have changed the name of directory:
$mv gx_head-0.14.0 gxhead-0.14.0
automatically debianized the sources:
$dh_make --createorig
and compiled the package:
$fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage
finally I've installed the created package:
$su -c dpkg -i ../gx-head_0.14.0_i386.deb
So compiled and installed gx_head works perfectly for me.

Bug#623119: libsane: Problem with setting of device node permissions

2011-05-14 Thread wzab

Package: libsane
Version: 1.0.22-2
Followup-For: Bug #623119

I had also problem with the permission of scanner device node.

Investigating the problem I have found that:
1. The original 60-libsane.rules doesn't work because the setfacl program
   is available as /usr/bin/setfacl, not as /bin/setfacl
2. setfacl is not able to modify permissions of device node:
   When I ran it from command line, I get the following error:
   #/usr/bin/setfacl -m g:scanner:rw snanner_device_node
   setfacl: 002: Operation not supported

I thought, that the second problem is caused by the fact, that my kernel
has the following configuration:
# CONFIG_TMPFS_POSIX_ACL is not set
But I've tested it on the regular file in my reiserfs root filesystem
and got the same result:

#/usr/bin/getfacl  /root/test
getfacl: Removing leading '/' from absolute path names
# file: root/test
# owner: root
# group: root
user::rw-
group::r--
other::r--
#/usr/bin/setfacl -m g:scanner:rw /root/test
setfacl: /root/test: Operation not supported

I've checked, that ACLs for reiserfs are on:
CONFIG_REISERFS_FS_POSIX_ACL=y

Bug#618903: empathy: I can't select video source for video chats

2011-03-19 Thread wzab

Package: empathy
Version: 2.30.3-1+b2
Severity: important

I use a system with multiple video input devices.
Unfortunately when I start the video chat, empathy automatically tries
to use the TV tuner as video input and freezes (due to format
incomaptibility?)
There is no settings window, in which I could select the video source
to be used with Empathy.

It seems, that this problem is specific fo lmms...

Bug#553509: Subject: gtkwave: New upstream version is available

2009-10-31 Thread wzab
Package: gtkwave
Version: 3.2.0-1
Severity: wishlist

*** Please type your report below this line ***
I have just found, that the new version 3.2.3 is available
on the gtkwave.sf.net
It has some significant improvements, like possibility
to work with fractional types sfixed and ufixed defined by VHDL-2008,
which may appear in the GHW files generated by GHDL.
I was able to compile the working debian package after only small
adjustment of sources described in:
http://www.mail-archive.com/geda-u...@moria.seul.org/msg14662.html
and using just:
$ dh_make --createorig
$ fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage
So probably it should be easy to upgrade.

2008-10-21 Thread wzab

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

*** Please type your report below this line ***

 Package name: zebra
 Version : 0.5
 Upstream Author : Jeff Brown [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 URL : http://zebra.sf.net
 License : LGPL
 Programming Lang: C, C++, Python
 Description : Zebra barcode reader

The zebra barcode reader is a small, layered bar code scanning and decoding
library implemented in C (C++ wrappers are also provided). It supports many
popular symbologies (types of barcodes):

   *  EAN-13/UPC-A
   *  UPC-E
   *  EAN-8
   *  Code 128
   *  Code 39
   *  Interleaved 2 of 5

The library comes with two linux application front ends for:

   * decoding captured bar codes from an image file
   * using a video4linux device (eg, webcam) as a bar code scanner

as well as ready-to-use widgets for popular toolkits:

   *  the Qt toolkit
   *  the GTK+ toolkit
   * PyGTK - Python wrappers for the GTK+ widget

Bug#498021: more details

The SD card reader which caused the reported problem was not SDHC
compatible.
Anyway handling of the reader not getting ready seems to be a little
problematic...

Bug#484554: foomatic-filters: Cancelling of job form CUPS doesn't kill the gs process sending the data to the printer

2008-06-04 Thread wzab

Package: foomatic-filters
Version: 3.0.2-20080211-3
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***
I have received the information, that the problem is already fixed in the
newest foomatic-rip available from http://www.openprinting.org/foomatic-rip
So this report is mainly an upgrade request...

Problem description follows:

When I cancel the print job via http://localhost:631 interface on my Debian
GNU/Linux system, I can see, that data are still transmitted to the printer.
It is not the problem with the internal printer cache, because even multiple
switching the printer on/off doesn't help.

When I investigated the processes running with the #ps uxa I could see the
following process still alive:

lp6288  0.2  0.9  30544 19180 ?S21:02   0:00 gs
-sstdout=%stderr -dBATCH -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=hl1250
-dEconoMode=0 -dSourceTray=0 -sOutputFile=%stdout -_

So it seems, that cups doesn't kill the processes run by the lpd to send the
data to the printer...

However, when I configure the wlan0 interface, it causes the system to
freeze after a random time (from a few seconds to ca. 30 seconds).
When I configure wlan0 from the text console, I get the panic log, which
can be seen there:

The problem occures both with HT enabled and with HT disabled, so it is not
associated with the SMP/HT extensions...

Bug#364295: libfltk: Some new programs (like flpsed v 0.4.1) require fltk2

2006-04-22 Thread wzab
Package: libfltk
Version: libfltk1.1
Severity: wishlist

The fltk2 is getting more popular, so I think it would be god to package
it for Debian paralelly with version 1.1.
The most significant feature from my point of view is better handling of
international characters.

Bug#364300: Newer and better flpsed (v. 0.4.1) is available,but needs fltk2

2006-04-22 Thread wzab
Package: flpsed
Version: 0.3.6-1
Severity: wishlist

I've found the newer version of flpsed (0.4.1) which allows me to use
unicode characters when adding text to PS documents.
It is very essential eg when filling in tax forms in my country.
This version however needs also a newer version of fltk (fltk2),
which is not packaged for debian yet.

BTW, when compiling flpsed 0.4.1 with fltk-2.0.x-r5017 I had to
copy the utf8len function from TextBuffer.cxx in fltk2 to Postscript.cxx
in flpsed sources.
I had also to change the char *file declarations into const char *file
in a few places in flpsed.cxx source (lines 117, 132, 174, 216 and 248).
