Bug#714551: gnome-shell: In overview mode, search field, app menu, workspaces, are not visible

2013-06-30 Thread ygmarchi
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.4.2-9
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

in overview mode, search field, app menu, workspaces, are not visible.

Actually it appears as though I had a much larger display so that all these
items are flushed to the right, to much to the right, so that they cannot be
seen anymore.

It is as though gnome-shell remembered having had too display joined in a
single screen, which actually happened in the past, but not currently.

I took a look at xorg.conf, but there is a single device/display/screen defined
there. Also, opening Displays from System Settings, my only current display
appears configured correctly.

Carlo.

Bug#714554: epiphany-browser: Google account 'two step' verification doesn't work with Epiphany

2013-06-30 Thread ygmarchi
Package: epiphany-browser
Version: 3.4.2-2.1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Google account 'two step verification' doesn't work with Epiphany,
even though I have the 'always accept cookies' option enabled.

The 'two step verification' is a mechanism devised by Google to
enhance security by keeping control of which devices and which programs
can login to your Google account.

The first time a device tries to login a verification code is sent
to your primary device (in this case my mobile phone) are you are
challanged to enter it on you new device.

Of course this is useful if the verification code is asked just the
first time, which, with Epiphany, doesn't happen: it is asked every
time I open the browser.

Carlo.

Bug#668704: gnome-gmail: Default browser setting

2012-04-13 Thread ygmarchi
Package: gnome-gmail
Version: 1.8.2-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

the package doesn't consider the user preferences about the browser.
Here's a patch that would.

Thanks,
Carlo.

Bug#665453: gnome-control-center: Allow the user to disable screen turn off

2012-03-24 Thread ygmarchi
Package: gnome-control-center
Version: 1:3.2.2-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

please allow the user to disable screen being turned off in the Screen settings
dialog.

I read the useful analysis at http://blog.tordeu.com/?p=292. Actually of the
three properties

org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-display-ac
org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-display-battery
org.gnome.desktop.session idle-delay

it appears that the last one is not used anymore (setting it via 'gsettings set
org.gnome.desktop.session idle-delay' has no effect). So I think the dialog
should be modified in two ways

1) It should reflect that there are actually two keys (sleep-display-ac and
sleep-display-battery)

and above all

2) it should allow the user to disable the screen being turned off at all (by
setting the keys to 0)

Thanks,
Carlo.

Bug#660690: gnome-shell-extensions: user-theme extension is recognized in gnome-tweak tool because of a different namespace

2012-02-20 Thread ygmarchi
Package: gnome-shell-extensions
Version: 3.2.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

all extensions have this weird namespace

gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com

The gnome-tweak-tool instead thinks the namespace should be

gnome-shell-extensions.gnome.org

Because of this disagreement, the tweak tool thinks user-them is not active and
the combo for specifying a user them is never enabled.

These are the relevant lines in tweak_shell.py:

THEME_EXT_NAME = user-th...@gnome-shell-extensions.gnome.org
#
if ShellThemeTweak.THEME_EXT_NAME in extensions and
extensions[ShellThemeTweak.THEME_EXT_NAME][state] == 1:
#
else:
error = _(Shell user-theme extension not enabled)

I think there quite some people going crazy about this out there :-)

But given my /etc/apt/preferences which is

Pin: release a=unstable

Pin-Priority: 990

Package: *

Pin-Priority: 500

Package: *
Pin: release a=experimental
Pin-Priority: 100

(if you suspect that I wanted to try the gnome shell, you're right!), I would
expect the experimental priority to be 992.

In fact, if I do install the package with the command

aptitude install gnome-control-center

the experimental version is installed, which I actually appreciate.

So I think that the output of the versions option is broken and misleading.

Bug#623818: I must believe my eyes

2011-05-24 Thread ygmarchi
Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 2.30.2-1
Followup-For: Bug #623818

Hello,

today I recognized that the gnome-terminal is back. I don't know why. I haven't
seen recent updates about it.

Recently I replaced the radeon driver with the unfree fglrx ati driver (I have
a 5400 Radeon HD card and the radeon driver doesn't use its 3d features).

Could it be the transparency works thanks to the drive replacement?

Bug#623818: gnome-terminal: Terminal completely transparent using compiz

2011-04-23 Thread ygmarchi
Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 2.30.2-1
Severity: normal

When using compiz the terminal is completely transparent and then unusable.
gnome-terminal gnome-system-monitor are the only two applications I know
showing this wierd behaviour, so I suspect it should be considered a problem of
theirs, not of compiz.

Bug#623819: gnome-system-monitor completely transparent when using compiz

2011-04-23 Thread ygmarchi
Package: gnome-system-monitor

gnome-system-monitor and gnome-terminal (for which I filed a separate report)
are completely transparent when using compiz. They're the only applications I
know showing this wierd behaviour. So I tend to think it's a bug of theirs, not
of compiz.
