The RGtk2 package (source rgtk2 for us, binary r-cran-rgtk2) was an important package in its day in bringing a modern and pretty UI framework to R across different OS, and I looked after it for 15 years. It never made the move to Gtk3 though, and usage moved more and more to dashboard in browsers instead. Consequently, RGtk2 was now retired at CRAN. We should remove it too.
