Yet another reproducer of the issue here. I also observed the failure in Xen's dmesg and confirm the issue occurs with PVH VMs. I haven't tried rebuilding with Valentin Kleibel's patch, but another potential workaround is to add: deb https://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20220801T032804Z/ bullseye main To /etc/apt/sources.list, then *hold* the GRUB packages at 2.04-20.
