Bug#1021804: gnome-terminal: Wrong window name "Preferences" showing up in Gnome Dash and the application switcher (Alt-Tab) for running terminals

2022-10-16 Thread Patrice Duroux
Hi,

But isn't there like a redundancy between the two .desktop files?

Looking at the section [Desktop Action preferences] in
org.gnome.Terminal.desktop
and the section [Desktop Entry] in org.gnome.Terminal.Preferences.desktop
or using 'meld' to compare them, they are some similarities, no?

Thanks,
Patrice

It works for me. Please reinstall gnome-terminal. Then close all your
terminals and then try opening the terminal again.

Thank you,

Bug#1021804: gnome-terminal: Wrong window name "Preferences" showing up in Gnome Dash and the application switcher (Alt-Tab) for running terminals

2022-10-14 Thread Ronny Rentner
Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 3.46.1-2
Severity: minor
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-b...@ronny-rentner.de

Dear Maintainer,

when I run Gnome Terminal, it shows up under the name "Preferences" in Gnome
Dash and in the application switcher. This also makes the application grouping
fail in Gnome Dash.

This seems to be caused by having 2 .desktop files:
/usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.Preferences.desktop
/usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.desktop

After I have manually deleted the org.gnome.Terminal.Preferences.desktop file,
the problem goes away.

Thanks in adance,

Ronny
