In aide 0.18, equals rule handling is broken. AIDE totally ignores ny directories lower than an equals rule directory. Prior to this you could create secondary rules that allowed tracking of files below an equals directory. =/test/dir1 R =/test/dir1/dir1a R /test/dir2 R Suppose I want to track dir1 and specific things under dir1 but not everything. I create an =dir1 rule to just track the directory, then I create a =dir1/dir1a to track a sub-directory. This is upstream issue #154, https://github.com/aide/aide/issues/154, and the fix is https://github.com/aide/aide/commit/cf5026bf0852d350030d6d1a7a0351573c9512e6 upstream plans to do a new upstream point release with the fix which will go to unstable, and I will then backport the fix to 0.18.3 in bookworm. bullseye is not affected. Thankfully, Debian's default configuration does not use equals rules. Greetings Marc
