Because the scheduled autoremoval day is today and because Jonas'
packages are generally on the LowNMU list, I am uploading this as a
NMU now.

Thank you,

Bug#1051241: headsup for gtk + pipewire update

2023-09-28 Thread Jeremy Bícha
Control: severity -1 serious

I am bumping the priority now because we are uploading the new Rust
GTK libraries now. It will take several hours for the libraries to
build.

Thank you,

Control: severity -1 important

Jonas,

I went ahead and pushed helvum 0.4.1 to a wip/gnome45 branch of the
Salsa repo. (I also pushed the pristine-tar and upstream/latest
branches since that seemed to be helpful.)

We are nearly ready to upload the new Rust GNOME 45 stack (rust-gtk
0.7, rust-glib 0.18, etc.) to Unstable. The new Rust libraries are
currently staged in Experimental.

My helvum package update built and appeared to run fine for me.

There is a smaller transition for rust-pipewire 0.7 but since that's
currently blocked by needing rust-convert-case accepted through NEW,
we intend to do the rust-pipewire transition later.

There is a newer helvum, 0.5.1, released today but maybe easiest to
wait for that update until we do the rust-pipewire transition.

Thank you,
Jeremy Bícha

Hi Jonas. This is just a heads-up for the upcoming gtk + pipewire
transition I am working on. the latest (0.4.1) release of helvum
does depend on the versions I will update to anyway; so this won't be
much of an issue. A problem might be helvum 0.4.1 depending on rustc
1.70. Can you maybe test if you can get it to build with the older one
currently in debian ? note that I patched all gtk-rs crates to use the
older version; they are compiling fine.

I will upload gtk-rs probably until eow.

Please release gtk-rs to experimental first, so that I can test-build
against.

Thanks,

  - Jonas

I uploaded all -sys crates with their regenerated code and new upstream
to experimental.

The regular crates can't be built atm because they require rustc 1.70.
The update will commence once the newer rustc lands.

best,
