After having run the new Angband for a few runs through the dungeons,
/var/games/angband has files in "scores" and "save" directories. The
"save" is the save files, and the "scores" contains historic summaries
of characters who were killed. I suspect, but don't know, that this is
what the old version did as well.

You are right, it would make more sense to save this info in
~/.angband but that does not seem to be what it does. That's where I
looked in my backups, but to no avail (I don't back up /var).

No great loss, really, in my case, but some might be more upset.
Certainly I think it's as worthy of a mention as the SDL font issue you
nicely put in the NEWS.Debian.

Bug#1054904: Missing user data

2023-10-29 Thread Chris Carr
Hi,

After an eight year gap I'm afraid save files were not compatible anyway,
but please could you expand on what you mean by character history? Which
files are missing? Most personal stuff should be in ~/.angband/Angband,
which is not cleansed. I didn't have anything in /var/games/angband when I
tested the package, so curious to know what you lost.

Thanks

Chris
