Bug#1060056: mariadb-server: mariadb-hotcopy fails for performance_schema and sys
Control: forwarded -1 https://github.com/MariaDB/server/pull/2995 This will be fixed in Debian next month when MariaDB 10.11.7 releases

Bug#1060056: mariadb-server: mariadb-hotcopy fails for performance_schema and sys
> ... why use a simple tool, when a complex one is almost as good? Time for mariadb-hotcopy: 0.13user 5.50system 0:06.08elapsed 92%CPU Time for mariadb-backup: 0.92user 12.31system 0:28.54elapsed 46%CPU It is common Linux practice to send info to STDOUT, error to STDERR. mariadb-hotcopy gets this right, while mariadb-backup is extremely(!) chatty on STDERR. But then, these are not this bug... Cheers, Paul -- Paul Szabo p...@maths.usyd.edu.au www.maths.usyd.edu.au/u/psz School of Mathematics and Statistics University of SydneyAustralia
Bug#1060056: mariadb-server: mariadb-hotcopy fails for performance_schema and sys
You convinced me (I convinced myself?): I now use mariadb-backup instead, as per the lines in my patch in MDEV-33187: Seems mariadb-hotcopy is deprecated so maybe we should be using mariabackup? I guess this is progress: why use a simple tool, when a complex one is almost as good? Dear Otto, Thanks for your quick reply. MDEV-33187 is "new". MDEV-30259 is only year old, though the issue seems ten years old: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=735014 Thanks, Paul -- Paul Szabo p...@maths.usyd.edu.au www.maths.usyd.edu.au/u/psz School of Mathematics and Statistics University of SydneyAustralia
Bug#1060056: mariadb-server: mariadb-hotcopy fails for performance_schema and sys
Hei Paul! Thanks for taking the time to report these upstream along with patches! I don't see the upstream MDEVs having a status 'fixed' nor any confirmation/review about the patches yet. Let's wait a bit for a feedback round.
Bug#1060056: mariadb-server: mariadb-hotcopy fails for performance_schema and sys
Package: mariadb-server Version: 1:10.11.4-1~deb12u1 Severity: normal mariadb-hotcopy produces errors. For details and patch please see the upstream report https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-33187 (and probably also the older https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-30259 that really should have made it into bookworm). Please include those patches in the next point release!
