Bug#1061770: ipmitool: unsupported LAN parameter lookup command returns an error

2024-04-29 Thread Miao Wang
Hi, all

The ipmitool repo has been migrated to https://codeberg.org/IPMITool/ipmitool
and I have fixed this problem in the commit
https://codeberg.org/IPMITool/ipmitool/commit/137aeb

I raised the severity because this bug makes ipmitool lan unusable on several
different platforms. I also hope maintainers can also backport this fix to the
current stable version.

Cheers,

Miao Wang

Bug#1061770: ipmitool: unsupported LAN parameter lookup command returns an error

Package: ipmitool
Version: 1.8.19-4
Severity: normal
Tags: patch upstream

Dear Maintainer,

Upstream version of ipmitool contains an unresolved issue:
https://github.com/ipmitool/ipmitool/issues/388

Personally seen this on an iLo4 BMC:
~# ipmitool -v lan print
Loading IANA PEN Registry...
IANA PEN registry open failed: No such file or directory
Running Get VSO Capabilities my_addr 0x20, transit 0, target 0
Invalid completion code received: Invalid command
Discovered IPMB address 0x0
Set in Progress : Set Complete
Auth Type Support :
Auth Type Enable: Callback :
: User :
: Operator :
: Admin:
: OEM :
IP Address Source : Static Address
IP Address : 10.0.4.24
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
MAC Address : d0:67:26:9c:9f:23
SNMP Community String : public
Get LAN Parameter 'IP Header' command failed: Unsupported parameter

As a consequence none of the other parameters are displayed.

Since the github repo is archived it does not look like a fix can be
expected upstream any time soon.

There's a patch available on a fork on github that fixes it for me:
https://github.com/Cray-HPE/ipmitool/commit/b7c0d66cd6b9eaf45648f6b2651b6ef5158de811
