The standard default is info so that there is a reasonable amount of
information included in bug reports.

It's just a default, and you can trivially override it on your machines
as you see fit if it doesn't work for you.

Bug#1066076: Current loglevel in system.conf is too verbose by default

2024-03-11 Thread Neal
Package: systemd
Version: 255.4-1
Severity: minor
File: /etc/systemd/system.conf
X-Debbugs-Cc: tombrown9...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

Current kernel message verbosity during Debian boot significantly hampers the
ability to identify critical system alerts, with important messages quickly
lost in the noise. This situation presents challenges for both new and
experienced users; newcomers may find the volume of information daunting and
misinterpret its importance, while seasoned users may struggle to quickly
pinpoint vital warnings or errors. To address these concerns, it is proposed
that the default kernel log level be set to "Warning." This adjustment will
streamline the boot process, making critical messages more visible and less
likely to be overlooked. Such a change not only aids in diagnosing and
troubleshooting by highlighting essential alerts but also enhances the boot
experience for all users by focusing on the most pertinent information.

Thanks
