I have included a patch to build bind 9.3.4 (today's latest in etch) with sdb-ldap. It protects the ldap inclusion with the SBD_LDAP directive so it can easily be en/disabled at compile-time. I would prefer to have this as an option to configure and will hopefully turn it into one soon.
If I have the time/inclination I will consider making SBD modules loadable at runtime (and therefore a bind-ldap package can be created) but I expect this will be a large job. I am happy to deal with any bug reports relating to the back-end, but still I suspect the maintainers will want to disable LDAP by default and let users compile their own package.
