Reading the bug report does that make it workrave's fault then?

Simon.

I don't understand how that's possible, unless 0x2a78886 is, in fact,
the xscreensaver virtual root window, and this workrave program
(whatever that is) has for some reason changed the *name* of the root
window. See xscreensaver.c line 1619: that message is not printed out
unless window == RootWindow.

This workrave program is in Debian so you can find out whatever it is
at: http://packages.debian.org/sid/workrave

I have no idea if it's changed the name of windows but I get the message
a lot since I started running xscreensaver in an attempt to find
something to lock my screen and do DPMS for me.

It seems amsn also provokes this when it gets a new message and flashes
for attention.

I get lots of:
xscreensaver: 00:06:11: 0: unrecognised ClientMessage _NET_WM_STATE received
xscreensaver: 00:06:11: 0: for window 0x3400136 (container_0 / Chatwindow)

(the timestamps show just how many lots of them I get :( )

Ok, but I'm not going to because I don't care.

I have no idea if it's changed the name of windows but I get the

a lot since I started running xscreensaver in an attempt to find
something to lock my screen and do DPMS for me.
If you had sent me the whole log, instead of just the part you
incorrectly assumed was all I'd need, I could have answered the
 question myself.

Which whole log? It doesn't seem to be logging to .xsession-errors
sadly just spamming which ever xterm it was run from...

Simon.
