It is documented there. See:

Spamfighting and missing mail

The bug tracking system implements a rather extensive set of rules
designed to make sure that spam does not make it through the BTS.
While we try to minimize the number of false positives, they do occur.
If you suspect your mail has triggered a false positive, feel free to
contact ow...@bugs.debian.org for assistance. Another common cause of
mail not making it through to the BTS is utilizing addresses which
match procmail's FROM_DAEMON, which includes mail from addresses like
m...@foobar.com. If you suspect your mail matches FROM_DAEMON, see
procmailrc(5) to verify, and then resend the mail using an address
which does not match FROM_DAEMON.

And/or (even better) modifying reportbug so it will refuse such
 From: addresses ?

Feel free to file a bug against reportbug to do so.

Bug#225859: document it then?

2011-12-04 Thread Matija Nalis
I understand the reasoning for not allowing some From fields...

However, it does cause trouble (and has caused it to me recently too, using
quite legitimate and working r...@domain.name email) -- and I guess some of
the reporters do not notice it doesn't show up (especially as it takes some
time to show up on the web anyway, and by the time it's up the submitter
forgets to recheck) and some may even give up reporting as result.

So may I suggest that this (somewhat peculiar) feature be documented at
least at http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting ?

And/or (even better) modifying reportbug so it will refuse such From:
addresses ?

So people reporting bugs have a chance of configuring their reportbug
in a way the servers will receive bug reports.

Thanks,
